"We should be able to attract a decent striker to the club" doesnt mean we will, decent strikers would they want to play for warne? Unless if its just a target man. I know alot like the ball  into feet not having to drag out wide to receive the ball or chasing lose balls

3 points off top so no time soon

3 points off top but the way we have played the last 2 games we could of been 2 points top? I get everyone looks at the table i get it hes getting points i look at it from the football it self and entertainment and its poor

I listened to the podcast he was on when he was Rotherham's manager, and I don't think it's fake at all. I thought he came across as a really genuine person. Could be wrong of course.

I know what you mean, i think sometimes people try too hard to be nice ( i think personally he trying too hard to be nice)

The weird thing is, I think he's a likeable bloke (maybe I'm wrong), but he gets less leeway because of the style he adopts.

The reality is that if you play an ugly style and win, you can get away with it. But if you play one and lose you get less sympathy from fans.

I get people like him for being nice but it does my head in hes too nice its like hes being fake sometimes you have to have abit aggression to be a football manager and he doesnt its why refs are crap all the time, you get someone like warnock and it changes

    Wasn’t the reason we lost.

We don’t know situation, Tommo could be managing something. Hourihane and Bird are his senior players so he’s relying on them, the former because he can have a poor game and still win you a match. We’re light in midfield right now and I think you’ll see Tommo play a big role in the run in. He hasn’t really got a lot of options, he can’t rely on Fornah based on his performance in the Trophy the other week.

Thats rubbish bird and hourihane doesnt work simple! You dont need to be a senior player to play if your good enough your good enough give robinson a chance try something different try fapetu get some legs in midfield! Look when clough was here hendrick hughes and thorne in midfield and none over the age of 23, teams play on our midfield because we are poor! You press quickly on bird and hourihane and they lose the ball because there slow and have a touch too many too many times

All this crap starting to emerge again about style of play after 1 defeat. It’s tiresome. Idiots on Twitter (including some of our prominent podcasters) flip flopping again from it’s all brilliant to the world is now caving in, saying the performances for weeks have been awful and this is a continuation. b*******. While our performances haven’t been scintillating they haven’t been bad. We lost to a Posh side who is flying right now (can happen with young teams, can just as easily fall away), the Fleetwood and Burton games were patchy, we were good for 50 mins against Burton before we let them back in with individual errors. Lincoln was a struggle but seemed like one of those games to get through unscathed, that happens.

Last night was abject in every sense of the word. One of the worst performances under Warne and far worse than recent games. Where as Lincoln made everything a fight and a contest, Reading were there for the taking and we missed a huge opportunity. And it wasn’t down to style of play or Warne’s tactics, wasn’t even down to his subs although I agree he should’ve left Liam on. It was down to players not doing their jobs and underperforming. Not doing the basics such as being able to pass the ball to another teammate, poor first touches, wrong decisions. Frustrating given a lot was at stake last night but this performance is on the players and they need to put it right.

4 winnable games coming up now, we move on.

Warnes tactics The only midfielder doing anything and because bird and hourihane are undroppable like alot of players in warnes team he has to replace tommo because why?

Ah, so it's style you want, not results?

You don't get points for style. It's great of you can achieve both, but I very much care about how many points we are off the top, because that will dictate which division we're playing in next season, and I'd prefer it to be the Championship. As it stands, Warne has a better chance of taking us there than a new manager with no chance to bring in "his" players and no chance of a honeymoon period. Sacking a manager when you're in the play-off positions doesn't have a great history of success AFAICR.

So what happens when we miss out on autos and lose in the playoffs what the point in it then? Football is ment to be entertaining it not!  If we go up we will come straight back down as we are poor with no style of football look at billy davies he won games 1-0 poor football went up and had no chance warne is basically doing exactly the same i would prefer to watch good football and walk away from the game and be like that wss really good (ie wembley vs qpr) then be bored watching us stuggle to a league 1 team get a 1-0 win just

Wow that's some statement yoof what's it based on...2 away games?, Teams have a wobble or in Crewtons mind a "Wibble 😁", I was really hoping we'd be sitting on top of the division this Morning, It would have been nice to see for all the hard work that's been put in the last couple of months...but alas we're not.

There's no magic wand where football is concerned, Players have to want it, I believe last night they wanted it, Unfortunately a team called Reading put the mockers on their plans, A Reading that are in turmoil but a Reading team that has a pretty good performance rating this last 6 games.

I was disappointed last night...so much so that I turned down a free ticket for Saturdays game, I'm a bit like you I can get wound up by results and performances, PW commented after the Burton game when asked "have we a few more gears to go through" PW said "maybe we are at 5th gear now" so this is it, We're a league1 team with League1 players that sometimes play well and sometimes play bad, Just because we get the top end of 26/28k home gates and we have EPL standard ground and training facilities, We need better players to go with it...ATM we have a squad capable of getting to the play offs at the very least...time will tell if Warnes happy to stay down with the dead men 😉

I feel warne knows if we go up we will struggle, we are not good enough for the championship how many times has warne said himself that we wasnt our best? Thats why everytime we get close we drop off again. I agree reading are a very good side i said before the game it would be tough but i didnt think we would be as poor as we were, after the weekend i didnt think we could get worse but we did

So why didn't Warne sign another RB, what will we do if Nyambe gets injured?

I do agree, yet smith when hes fit would be my replacement if he got injuried. I would like to keep our funds for a striker and cm. Week in week out our midfield doesnt work bird had 1 really good game out of 7 and all the rest we lose our midfield. I feel wildsmith does alot more for our team then alot realise as we seem to sit alot deeper with vickers in goal

Thing is even when we were winning i said we were sh!t, warne only knows how to grind out wins, i think theres a hand full of games this season i have said we were good today! Unlike most where its perfectly fine to play poor and win but when we play poor and lose everyone agrees

I don't like Warne football as much as the next pessimistic supporter. His objective was promotion and we are still well in the race. Back to back wins and we'll be pulling away from the pack again. He just needs to stop this mini rot of bad performances and now poor results. I still believe we will be top 3, if the manager actually starts to rest his better players more often. We've got a lot of over 30s who are our star players, their game time needs to be managed far smarter than they are now.

My main concern, forget about how dire the football can be when it goes wrong, is he going to learn his lesson from last season and manage the fitness of the squad properly? Ultimately this killed our momentum and we left it too late at the end. Ironically, he had Collins sat on the bench 2nd half of last season and he refused to play him from the start when we really needed to give NML a break. Now we have completely burnt Collins out, burnt out NML and let a young striker out on loan, granted we should be bringing in a striker soon.

He thinks another player will be enough, I'd argue he needs 3 or 4 more for depth. A tight squad with an older average age needs help.

Is it tho? CBT said the 12-18 month plan so does that mean he has another year at getting promotion? I think warnes happy at playing the long game and keeping us in league 1 its crap! The football is crap and the resaults are starting to be crap again

Don't think I've ever felt so out of kilter with our fanbase. There's always been a few on here, but since Covid it's been an absolute deluge. The amount of new members joining just so they can join the pile on is staggering. We've literally gone from being the most staunch set of fans in the entire EFL, to this, all in 18 months or less. Fortunately, our most loyal fans, especially those who seem to go to every game, come rain, wind or shine, seem able more than able to take the knocks without the kind of histrionics we see on the matchday threads.

Ah well, a big performance is a must now against Cheltenham, or this forum will be toxic beyond belief.

Thats bollxs the reason was coz we were fighting! Now we are expecting again . Thats all

You got torn a new one, as you put it, for posting like a hangry baby. The fact that you welcome others doing the same speaks volumes.

FWIW, If you and others seriously believe that you are the only ones who can see that there are issues with the team, then you need to brush up on your reading skills. Equally, if you think this squad would prosper in the Championship, then I'd beg to differ. That's just something folk say to bash Warne I'm afraid. Same people continuously pumping the same line, then calling the team garbage every week, like nobody will notice the contradiction. We're a L1 side and that's all we are until we're not.

Im not saying they would prosper in the championship, im saying we arent even a league 1 side at this point, weve achieved nothing in the last 4 games, and were lucky to make any points off the teams since peterborough! There is no style of football to see and warne has been having his "style" implemented for nearly 2 years now, no further along or better off for it.

No urgency, no bite in midfield, terrible terrible performance. 1 point out of these last 2 games isn’t good enough. Cash in on Bird and get some damn legs in that midfield and someone who can receive the balL on the half turn.

    Or………………. Just absolute 💩

I havent said this for months and all i get is 💩
