Jones is more likely to take them down than into the playoffs - he can't hack it anywhere else other than Luton, should never have left them.

We will see, in all fairness what manager ever does well at stoke? And did he really get a chance at southampton? In the prem a stuggling team and to manage what about 10 games? Theres a difference between league 1 and prem he will turn them around

They're 21 points off 6th, and 6th have two games in hand...

Stevenage's PPG will see them end with around 84 points if they carry on as they are. Charlton can only win 48 more points, meaning the highest they can get to is 79, and that's if they go on a 16 game winning streak.

The 16 game winning streak is even more unlikely when you consider the following. They've only won 7 all season. They've conceded more than anybody except for Fleetwood (23rd) and Carlisle (24th). In their last 5 games, they have 1 point. Now that CBT has left, their second highest scorer has a whopping 3 league goals.

They definitely have a chance of getting out of League One, just not the right way.

Forest did it in the championship and jones is a good manager

I think charlton will go up in the play offs

In all fairness i didnt realise how far down they are but i feel they will have a good end to the season! If jones take over they do have the squad to do it! But i agree it might be too late. But i think they will be close from where they are

  4. It abit in the air for me without the long balls over into the corners he tries too often its ok not great, but ok when nml went off. we were way more playing into the midfield and probably the most enjoyable game in a while once nml went off ( not saying it nml fault)

That’s your only contribution to the match thread? Wait until Bird changes position and have a pop?

Not really having a pop at max bird, im saying hes had a good game! I have always said bird is better going forward. Good team proformance. ( i could of been a c*** and about bird through ball to collins beng slightly behind but he was in the game and played well) i dont mind saying it its the consistency i have always questioned

He is one of our top 6 players on the player ratings.

He is having an ok season. Not great but ok.

    Not a passenger

Yes i would of said about 6th, but 6th isnt our best or have i got my maths wrong?

Probably our best player now Bird has gone.  I’m just making the point really that he won’t stay in League 1 next season if we don’t go up.
Of course I want promotion who wouldn’t but it’s by no means a given now after failing to get a CF in .

What do I know but we were poor against Cheltenham but our only CF and Bird dug us out

Thats just your view! Then against cheltenham he was non-exsistant before his goal, he is too inconsistant after his goal yes he was one of the players who turned the game on its head

We have Barkhuizen and NML who could play up top if we were desperate.

Then we have Washington and Waghorn returning from injury.

Then we could use u21 strikers.

So its ridiculous to say that we've got nobody.

Wag and wash sounds like there about 3 weeeks away then also having to get match fit, barkhuizen i agree i would like to see more of him in that role. Nml is hit and miss down the middle better out wide

The fact he has gone to a non league club would lead me to believe we don't think he is ready for League One football yet?

Maybe but surely its better having someone for back up, then nobody?

  10. 2 minutes ago, G STAR RAM said:

Yes but in the position we are in we cant just go out and replace him.

We took a risk extending his loan, I'd imagine with a view to persuading him to join us next season, and it has backfired.

Tough titty. We have to accept injuries as part of the game and also understand the reason we have been getting players prone to injuries.

We could of kept brown tho. At least until we managed to sign someone. I do think its a good move for brown but if we dont get someone on a free now we are struggling

    Why is it an excuse?

Transfer plans sometimes come together and sometimes fall apart. There are failed transfers in every single window. Why get so worked up about this particular one?

If we have a business plan that we have to follow rigidly and stick to, then it’s an obvious factor in why other clubs can complete deals more smoothly and why it is more problematic for us.

The power is with the EFL and the conditions they have put in place and the clubs who will try to take advantage of such a situation.

Are you having a laugh hes been after players like smith/ gregory  not going to be dirt cheap on wages to not signing anyone! its his style not the funds!

  12. 1 minute ago, Jourdan said:

It will help the club financially, which is still an important consideration to make whether people like it or not.

And perhaps we’ll have more muscle when the transfer window comes around again in the summer.

Please not another warne needs another window, any more windows he will be living in a glass house he doesnt sign players

Please tell me we have somebody or a team looking to invest in Derby in the summer to join clowes get rid of the older players and started doing some proper scouting in the lower leagues and league 2 and bring in players who we can make money on instead of leaving for free every season and not generating any money to invest and get rid of the current ceo and replace him with a football person or a director of football

    Mel morris 😂

Lampard and Morris - not doing anything these days.

Or, if you prefer, how about McClaren and Simpson - Schteve won't be at United much longer.

Come on, it would be more fun than what we're going through, eh?

"We are winning games and warnes a expert of getting teams out the league!" Has as much pulling power as a sloth on sleeping tablets! This is the window where we had to give him the chance 😂

  15. 8 minutes ago, Jourdan said:

Yes, but surely if we are under restrictions and have to sell first to bring players in, then any incoming movement is dependent on any outgoing deal being completed first?

Maybe if Bristol City had acted sooner, we might have seen the trickle down effect.

Disappointing? Maybe. A disgrace? Not when we are the mercy of the EFL (and other clubs know this!) who have to ratify deals first and foremost and it’s not something they will do on an if, but or a maybe.

Or maybe paul warne has no pulling power to the players we are after, thats why this happens every transfer window? Sh*t style of football! Funny how we only sign players our current players have had the effect on players to sign for us not warnes nicey nicey text messages!

I guess because he’s unproven as a goal scorer at this level in stark contrast to Gregory and Smith.

I appreciate we won’t know until he’s given a shot but quick results seems to be the order of the day.

Still shouldnt of let brown go until we had someone lined up and ready to come straight in! If we dont sign someone then we are really lightweight up front for another month or so when waggys back

  17. 14 hours ago, Curtains said:

I’d give him game time but it’s a risk as he’s unproven at League 1 level.  He was on the bench on Saturday

Will hughes was unproven in the championship and smashed it, age doesnt matter if your good enough, then your good enough. People always say bird is a dm? I achually think hes better going forward and think he is wasted in our team because he goes missing too much in that role saturday shown us that, one in more of a attacking role he played alot better

No - nothing changes as a result - the performance was cr@p, the game has gone and the result stays the same 2-1 to Derby - and be that lucky, poor or whatever it ….it’s still 3pts in the bag with only 2 defeats and 2 draws in the last 14 games. We remain 3 points away from top - and 7 points clear of 7th with 17 games to go. 👍🏻🐏

Fair enough on you looking positives, but we are poor! If the results were based on the performances we have been putting out and losing instead of grinding out results he would have been gone by now
