NellyRam reacted to RodleyRam in James Collins live now on the EFL Pod - talks the end of season & confirms Las Vegas
Some people had that view going into this season...

Are we sure about Bogle and Lowe? That would be so not Derby to sell them for £11m and get them back for free

In what world would Smith accept a pay as you play? Or would Alfie May come cheaply?
Some in this thread are on a different planet, I swear.

Record amount of points in a season, most ever amount of away wins in the history of the club and gained automatic promotion despite having a squad full of free transfers.

The criticism at the time wasn’t unreasonable. We were crap and looked like we were going nowhere.
Fair play to the ones who backed him to turn it around.
He’s our manager, a good man, and he’s written himself into Derby County history.
Up the Rams.

NellyRam reacted to G STAR RAM in Paul Warne
Hey? I thought they were promoted in January, along with Oxford in September and Barnsley/Bolton in February.
Not been looking at the league table, so assumed yesterday was a celebration of staying up with so many teams being better than us!

I have a thought (yep, rare), Warne has his critics who say his football is dire and hard to watch.
Peterborough played attractive football, but they’re not second.

He went as soon as he realised his mates weren’t going to be able to buy the club
Best of luck to him in his managerial career but I’d take Paul Warne over him and his crew any day.

NellyRam reacted to Simmo’s left foot in 'Compensation' for not going up
For me the division we play in is secondary to still having a club and a stadium to play in.

Yes you do tediously keep saying the same thing. But I for one totally disagree with you. I am happy with the way the team has (nearly) achieved promotion, the way the whole club has developed. We have done this season, what we needed to do to get out of this league, despite lots of injuries and having to play people out of position.
I am confident we will recruit what we need to be competitive.
I hope just to keep you happy over the summer that our 3(?) midfielders pass the ball to each other on Saturday and your boy Sibley gets a goal.

Tell you what's amazing- how Bird and Hourihane have got 5G/7A and 5G/8A, respectively, when Warne's tactic is ''not to use them''... Outstanding goal contribution stats for central midfielders; almost like you're just generalising since Bird particularly has also played some of his best football in a Derby shirt this season. Funny that. 🤔

It's not that there's anything outrageous about this statement, there isn't. Of course, he's right, but it's also blindingly obvious; loans going back and contracts expiring - we'll need those signings regardless of the league we find ourselves in.
It's that it consistently happens in the wake of a win, which makes it look like Bris is content to urinate on everyone's chips and bring the mood down. All people want to do is enjoy the good feeling 3 points bring, and be excited about promotion.
Let us worry about next season after (hopefully) basking in the glow of a first promotion in 17 years. I'm going to enjoy it and praise the good job Warne has done this season. Record points tally, record away wins in a season... it is about time the club and fans had some good times.

That wasn't the argument being made. The argument is that you pay to watch entertainment. You don't, you pay to watch competitive sport with no guarantees beyond that.

Two of David Clowes’ aims when he took over the Club were to bring integrity and also establish ourselves in the Championship within 5 years. We didn’t get promotion last year, much to many fans angst. On reflection, it was probably a good job we didn’t. We would still have been working to a strict business plan which would have tied our hands in the transfer market to some degree and made the season very difficult.
We have recruited quite a few players this year who will be able to play in the Championship next year. Some recruits haven’t been quite so successful. We will have a reasonable pot for transfers this year we have been told. Probably, Wildsmith, Nyambe, Cashin,Nelson,Elder,Ward,Wilson,Mendis-Laing,Blackett-Taylor,Sibley,Forsyth,Rooney should be ok in the Championship - I personally have more concerns about Smith, Collins, Barkhaizen, Thompson, Fornah, Gayle, Washington, Vickers. We will lose Bird and Adams (for now?)
I think, with some shrewd business, we should be able to put together a competitive squad.
in terms of integrity, I think our progression has been amazing. There has been hardly any, if at all, negative news regarding our club in the media. The Management team all absolutely appear to be working together to a common goal. We have recruited (not to everyone’s like) good people, who want to play for the shirt, not just here for the money, as in the past. The Academy has made good progress in its rebuild and the are a few players who look to have good futures, hopefully as Derby players.
At our best and most confident, we do play some exciting football, score goals and don’t concede many. Yes, we would like to see more of the exciting times but our main aim has been to get out of this difficult league this year. Too often in the past we have had a soft underbelly and have struggled against strong, aggressive teams. We currently have a side, which mainly, doesn’t buckle against this type of side.
So I am happy with the progress of Derby County this last two years and look forward to what will happen next. David Clowes is a quietly shrewd business man and I think Paul Warne is an intelligent manager, who is a lot shrewder and football wise than many give him credit for. Not only this but he is a fantastic man-manager and team spirit builder.
Can’t wait to see what happens next.

People who pay money just for entrainment should try the cinema or theatre, sport isn't for them.

NellyRam reacted to Crewton in Paul Warne
If you've only been entertained by 2 out of 22 home games, I think your expectations might have been a little too high, and if you're only attending Derby games in order to be entertained, then I can understand why you're not renewing. But for many fans, the entertainment factor is only one of many aspects that draw them to Pride Park. For a payment of what is effectively only £8/week, I get an awful lot more than entertainment out of it.

Happy Birthday @Ellafella 🍻 I have 5 years on you and grew up thinking we would be the Champions of England virtually every other year. I’ve seen the good times and bad since my first game in 1970 but still celebrate every win whether it’s 4-1 v Real Madrid or a 0-1 at Cambridge in League one. COYRS 🐏🐏🐏

The job Warne has done, since Stevenage away, has been exemplary.
You cannot play one touch 50 pass moves with league 1 players. Not feasible. If we blow it, and have to face up to another season down here, Warne is definitely the man to rebuild us and go again.
If we go up, he will have earnt the right to build a Championship squad and have a go at keeping us up, as per his original brief.
I know he's marmite, with his off-beat personality profile, but he's clearly an honest and genuine man and it's hard to see a nice guy cop for abuse.
