    Let's keep things in perspective....
The most important thing yesterday was that it looks like club has been saved. A week or so ago that was looking unlikely.
Nevertheless, it's disappointing - albeit understandable - that Rooney has decided to leave.
Some seem disappointed at the timing of his announcement, others (amazingly IMHO) feel let down by his departure and a few appear pleased he's gone.
My own feeling is that he decided to go once Kirchner's bid fell through but that he stayed around until the club was secure.
My opinion of Rooney changed beyond recognition last year. I think his dignified manner when dealing with the issues is what rallied everyone. Rooney's role in the club's rescue should never be underestimated.
I will always be grateful. Thanks Wayne.

Chris Powell as assistant? Knows the club, knows the leagues, plenty of experience. Think he’s involved in Spurs youth set up at the mo

It might. If it were the case. But
Everything we’ve heard over the last 24 hours suggests that Clowes, Q and the EFL have been talking regularly, that the EFL are happy with Clowes as owner. There’s been nothing from the EFL that suggests we are due a points deduction or anything from Q. And why would a Derby fan spending millions putting his club back together do a deal that starts our season on -15? It would make no sense.
Rooney’s spent much of the last few weeks on holidays with his family. He might have enjoyed being with them, missed being with them and not looked forward to coming back to another difficult season, which it probably will be Clowes or not. He seemed to like CK, wanted Stretford and Cook around him, probably wanted to have started the rebuild a few weeks ago, has probably missed out on some targets he had lined up. Maybe some of the players he wanted to stay have said they’re not. Maybe it’s simply that he just doesn’t have the energy it needs as a result. Something a new manager, Rosenior or not, should have in spades.

I was highly critical when he took over from Phillip Cocu.
But given the restraints last season, he did a very good job.
People highlighted how bad our away form was. But we overachieved at Pride Park. No way should our side last season have had like the fourth or fifth best home record in the Championship.
If you’re going to criticize certain aspects, it needs to be balanced out with how well he set the team up at Pride Park. There were some cracking wins over the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
On a side note, his next job is going to be very different. He will have far more freedom than he ever had here in terms of recruitment, but he will also have expectations which he never had to endure here.
They say it’s a results business. But last season, we could have lost every game yet it wouldn’t have hampered Rooney’s reputation.

Some criticism of Rooney makes me laugh. The bloke made a bunch of old men and untried kids run through brick walls for him. Him and the players gave everything, every game and thats why the fans responded with the best atmosphere in the country.
We'll probably never know the real reason how its all panned out but if  Steve Gibson and Rick Parry had one ounce of Wayne Rooney's love for football and the fans we would have been sold and sorted 6 months ago and stayed up.
I would like to think Rooney would do this to them both if he was ever in their company.

Been mulling this over while catching up on today's news. Loads of really really good points and I think perhaps a combination of all.
    - perhaps waiting until thought safely being rescued
    - he went straight from last playing role to hugely consuming manager role so perhaps pressure from Colleen or wish from him for more family focus
    - he really was the right man at the right time but like churchill after WWII perhaps not for rebuilding task ahead so leaves now with reputation for integrity enhanced and no blot on career if his football style/skills not suited to league 1
    - lots of talk of us missing compensation if he goes elsewhere soon but wouldnt be surprised if he waived salary so perhaps we owe him also so wiping the slate with wording
    - seemed to only comment on CK so perhaps too welded to that bid and the team  for whatever reason
    - perhaps players were leaving/not re- signing anyway and not showing loyalty so had enough
Whatever the reason(s) he has totally changed my mind about him and I will always have huge respect for him for last season's rallying call and loyalty.  But derby county is not one person as has been shown many times over the years and sure our Clement Attlee is out there somewhere or already within the club. The most important news today was the stadium confirmation and the possible saving of our club

I voted mid table mediocrity in premier league. Been there watched us at that level,   remains the highlight of my Derby supporting life but also remember people getting wound up that smithy wasn’t the guy to take us to the next level and Europe. No one is satisfied. We always want more.
Im Derby through thick and thin but f*** me im not happy with us being in league one and the Bamfords being premier league. But I’d never shirk my allegiance.

Regarding the boring premier league, family connections mean I could support United city or the Geordies, I’ve plumped for City in honour of my Nan and also to piss my Derby born Liverpool fan mate off (he has no connections other than he’s a glory hunter, or the classic I liked the silver candy sponsored away kit in the late 80s/early90s so started supporting them)

If you are a true and loyal supporter of your club, not just Derby County, you take the rough with the smooth, the agony and the joy, but you remain a fan to your home club all your life.
I've been supporting, home and away, in the sunshine, snow, wind and rain, for 60 years, and I've seen it all from 1962 to 2022, with the good, bad and mediocre managers and players, but they all come and go in the end, but as a supporter all you can really do is watch and argue from the side lines with your mates and family of what the club and team should be doing.
I've watched and read about all the controversies, the record breaking transfers, the sackings and bust-up's, and twice, under Maxwell and Morris, close to liquidation, the promotions and relegations, but I'll still be there on Saturday 30th July to see them kick-off another season, my 61st.
Whoever the new owner, new manager and players are going to be, let's get out our flags, scarves and shirts and give them our wholehearted support for another season.

We are all Derby County fans. We have no choice. We support them through thick and thin - and always will. It's our club.?
But would you rather things be a little less stressful? A few years of respite? Or maybe, the "stress" (not real stress) of chasing a Champions League spot?
Yes there are other possibilities. It's late, been a long day and I'm too knackered to list all the possible options. Don't find one you like, just write about it - or move on. Ta.
Personally, I have found the last few months to be traumatic but I do think we will look back and remember the achievements, the games, the togetherness very fondly.

On the plus side, Clowes looks to be over 40 and is clearly both a fan and a man who feels obligated to do the right thing.
So come on David, your first decision should be the obvious one to finally turn the club's luck around.
Bring back the proper colours. I know I speak for all fans - well the sensible ones at least...Derby County should play in white shirts and navy blue shorts.
