I've just listened to the Adams interview, his personality is infectious and he's a proper warrior in midfield.

If Cardiff have floated a figure over a permanent move just pay it. Don't muck about arguing over a few quid. Just pay 'em.

Worrying to hear that he too is carrying an injury…😳

A Flukey win would be their keeper attempting a clearance that rebounds off a retreating Barkhuizen’s backside and into the net. A Flukey win would be the intake of breath from the South Stand prior to belting out a hymn about Mendez-Laing’s impressive physique sucking the ball into the goal, a Flukey win would have been them scoring an own goal.

We defended our goal, and changed from about 60 mins onwards to attack until we scored a winner. Smith played the pass to NML, Smith who was subbed on to change the shape of the side to free Max Bird in midfield and move Wilson to his natural rwb role. Sibley scored the goal having been brought on as one of the forward players in place of Barkhuizen.

It was a horrible game of football, and I agree Warne is limited tactically and perhaps has the wrong mindset towards approaching home games in which we might expect to be the dominant side, but to call the win today luck is genuinely baffling in my opinion.

Happy to listen to your argument and your points. 👍

But in truth did we really look like winning until the one moment with Sibs ?
We can all agree to disagree on certain points but my feeling is still that we won despite of PW not because of him.

But a win is a win and we move on…

  3. Glad for the win obviously.

But let’s not have the fluked result (cos that’s what it is and was) disguise a desperate performance created to a large extent by a woeful tactician of a manager. Don’t give me the line that it was PW’s sub of Sibs that got us the win. It was just luck, no more. Plus a large dose of desperation.

I can accept bad performances and understand the pressure on the players, particularly at home.

    But our setup was appalling.
If we had gone attacking mode from the beginning (when Stevenage would realistically just be looking to get to HT at 0-0), scored two goals by H-T and then reverted to a back 5, then there would have been some logic to events. But PW’s talk about it being better to go for a win ( and risk losing) rather than draw is total BS. Talk is cheap but not matched by actions.

Stevenage deserved a draw. We got (very) lucky. Yes, we are where we are in the table and that’s good. But i am reminded of a tv interview with Matt Le Tiss who said that whilst Southgate was a nice guy he couldn’t help feeling that we would never win a tournament with him as manager and that he almost felt that with the players England have he( Le Tiss) could have managed them to a Euro final and WC semi. I feel the same about PW- it’s a ‘thanks Paul’ but no more. I have always been supportive of him but after today I seriously question his real credentials, yes, even acknowledging the current league position we find ourselves in.

Looks like we are losing 2 points on this game.

Given that bolton are 2 games behind and Barnsley are challenging, looks like we should have signed a quality striker in January.

You can’t help thinking that the CBT money would have been far better utilized going for a quality striker- certainly at this juncture and in the Jan window (CBT for the summer ?).
Not just cos of the Collo injury now but because Jan signings are supposed to be a catalyst to pushing on….  CBT adding nothing to our push right now….

  5. I am going to blow a friggin fuse listening to the PW post-game interview with this … same old stale lines, ‘we lacked the magic moments’ etc etc…

…..and  blaming the Collo injury (hindsight is everything I realise, but SP made it clear in his interview that it was PW’s decision not to bring in a fall-back striker in Jan when the deal for the other guy fell apart at the last minute- PW obviously felt the gamble was worth it that Collo would stay fit and if he didn’t then we could manage with the players we have- well, massive back-fire as this game shows he was massively wrong).

Over an hour for Warne to realize we didn't need five at the back and two holding midfielders. A tactical genius at the helm. Is this last last half-hour enough to win the match in? At least we've had a shot!

Ironically PW going more attack minded when we enter the phase of the game when historically and statistically Stevenage are at their most dangerous (late goals).🤷😳

    COYR !! Just fluke a goal somehow……🙏🤞

Subs on their way. Sibley and Thompson warming up.

Alas I suspect that means Sibley for Elder in defence and Thommo in midfield. We need Sibley in midfield.

If we draw or lose so be-it…. But these changes and shape needed to be done at half-time. This ‘let’s give it another 15 mins in the second half to see if anything changes’ is just so old-school management….

Sorry- totally pissed off with this today..:: so much optimism from Tuesday and then back to this awful crap. 💩

  8. Makes u wonder if the PW mentality for this game is not to lose (to the mighty Stevenage at home, mind)…. This is the formation u could see for the Pompey away game when we would happily settle for a draw from the beginning..

Remember- Stevenage have a good record in terms of scoring late goals…

It’s not NOT worked though, we’re not losing and have looked solid enough, I can see logic in sticking with it for the moment then making changes shortly.

The test will be how long it does take to make those changes

Respectfully disagree. The idea is to win.  It’s been toothless, stale and useless. Be brave- shake things up…. Don’t wait until the last moment out of desperation…

Overly defensive. It's a balance between being strong but also not trying to out-stevenage Stevenage.

We haven't had an attempt at goal and they have come very close 3 times.

Bird is back to playing deep and vattling and Wilson looks lost. He'd have been better off at wing back.

Weston on the bench would have been an idea.

At home to Stevenage, 2nd in the league and hoping we can hang on to this.

Agree. It’s pathetic. Bird can’t be playmaker when fighting for the ball in a midfield two.

    Too much respect given.

  11. Gonna be a very tough game today and I have a bad feeling… fourth best away record in the division and a tough team to break down…add to that out somewhat dodgy home record and performances…😳🤷…...if they score first it will be tricky. They- like us- also have a good record of getting late goals in games.

Big responsibility lies with the crowd…. Got to be loud and patient and get the guys over the line…
