cheers mate , was our second performance with this new band so abit rusty , much better now 🤣 , inspired from watching the martian and other sci fi films about space/leaving a dying world.

it just seems like a an expensive experiment thats pissing away resources that could go to better use

It’s a hard week. Daniel’s brick is being laid at PP this week. Daniel loved owls, so I bought a small owl ornament for the brick. Trying to distract myself with work but it’s hard

    Love the song.
"They" (the Mars naysayers) might have said that about radiation, but they're completely wrong.
We're protected from some radiation on Earth because of our planet's magnetic field, created by a molten iron dynamo at Earth's core. Mars used to have a similar dynamo, but being smaller it cooled to the extent it no longer works. However, there are LOTS of solutions, some of which will be deployed at different times along the colonization timeline.
Due to its historic magnetic field, areas on Mars already have a stronger magnetic field than Earth's and might be sites for early settlement. Then, rock provides shielding. Other early settlements will be built inside collapsed lava tubes or into the walls of canyons with rock above. Water is also a great radiation shield, so some cities will have lakes built into their roofs, with fish etc for food swimming above the settler's heads.
Overall, the risk from radiation only leads to a small increase in cancer risk, but even so Mars genetic engineers will work to reduce this. Then, moving on, it will be possible to create an artificial magnetic field for Mars. One suggestion is to place a large magnet at the gravitationally stable point between the Sun and Mars (called L1). A magnet only a quarter the size of those already in use at the Large Hadron Collider at Cern would probably suffice. We just need to work out how to power it at that location. So these problems are surmountable. And definitely not on the critical path to Mars colonization.

if im not mistaken the amount of radiation on mars is the reason they said it could never be done. And id rather he put his money into fixing this world not letting it go to ruin and then buggering off somewhere else. I wrote a song about it years ago called locust of man.

My dad finally lost his battle this morning at the ridiculous age of 64.
Over the past month or so, he got stuck in a cycle of having excess fluid drained, the fluid coming back, being drained again, etc. The fluid eventually got into his lungs and, on top of that, he had the cancer in the background (which they couldn't directly treat because of all of the draining), and a skin infection that eventually led to sepsis. It was just too many issues for him to fight, even though he gave it a damn good go.
He deteriorated rapidly last night to the point of being very agitated and delirious, and I got a call from the nurses to come in at 3am. I knew it was the beginning of the end then, and the decision was made to withdraw treatment at about 11am. He went very peacefully within the hour.
Part of me wants to carry on like normal - go to the match tomorrow and have a few drinks after - but the healthiest decision is probably to skip it and have a bit of alone time to process it all.
I echo the last sentence of my previous post too - f*** cancer.

For balance, the only good spell we had in the game was the 15 minutes right up until their goal when we could’ve scored 3, that was the only time we were moving the ball quickly and we looked a threat, Hourihane was the stand out player in this period of the game orchestrating it. He was poor second half but there were also players just as bad.

He’s the only one who willingly takes the ball of the back four.
He offers more offensively than Thompson or Smith.
Agree our midfield can look weak at times with him in there but he’s still an asset who he himself knows is probably calling in a day at the end of this summer. For that alone, I hope fans give him the respect he deserves for an excellent career.

Modern art is absolute talentless garbage that people with too much money seem keen on wasting it on

Banksy is in the same boat. nothing brilliant about his art its just that no one knows who he is so it adds to the mystique of it all

We've probably not seen value for money this season, but if you accept that in context he was seen as a good signing at the time and we were desperate, you can't really complain.
Like others have said, he's leaning in to the old head, using his experience and organising/cheerleading everyone on side of things and good for him. Doesn't appear to have an ego and he does score goals so if we do need one to take us up, i'd be bringing him on over a Fornah or a Thompson.

Not sure about ‘we’ but I have…..but then maybe I’ve been looking for the good in him as I think he’s a decent player.
5 goals, 7 assists plus lots of good deliveries e.g Cashin’s header that hit the post v …was it Reading?
Granted, he’s not scored any worldie free kicks as far as I can remember
