Got a bit of time for their fans. They were very staunch in their support of us when times were darkest for the club. Even when we beat them at their place, they were applauding our lads and singing f*** the EFL with our lot. Good few online were hugely complimentary about our away support too. It was heartwarming and uplifting stuff when it was needed and it won't be forgotten in a hurry.

If Jim's team had played in blue and white, we'd have beaten West Ham, qualified for Europe, doubled our income and had enough cash to maintain our top 6 status into the Premier League era.
We didn't build on our post war success and gradually dropped into the 3rd Division North because we were carrying the albatross of black shorts.
Brian Clough quickly realised that his genius was being limited by those shorts and changed them. Suddenly we were the best in the country and only a bent ref away from being the best in Europe.
Do we want Colin Todd, Archie Gemmil and Kevin Hector or Claude Davies, Bob Malcolm and Robert Earnshaw?

Bizarre start to the thread. Only two people so far have got the answer correct.
How can anyone opt for Maxwell black over Clough navy blue?

I do miss DCFCKev. We knew about every player having a medical then. We really need a mole at Moor Farm.

I believe you are going to very disappointed over the next few weeks. We are still suffering from going into administration, so we are simply not in a position to sign proven players who fit the manager's profile.
Personally, I think we have manager who has gained 3 promotions with squads assembled on a shoe string. I don't think we need big names.

I'd imagine that all of our signings in this window will look underwhelming. We're a League 1 side with restrictions on how much we can spend. We're not going to splash big fees on players where there is competition from Championship or the larger clubs in this division.
Warne also wants athletic players, so we're not going to sign any fading stars with big reputations.
What we will do is make a series of boring looking signings from the Conference, League 2, Scotland and Ireland. I doubt any will be more than 'meh'.
The excitement will come from the recruitment team (hopefully) finding some uncut diamonds and Warne making a whole which is greater than the sum of its parts.

I downloaded Wyscout for a trial run to see if it’s something that I would find of interest so did a little bit of a deep dive on the players we have been linked with so far.
Anyone that knows the Wyscout platform will already be aware it’s an absolutely fascinating and groundbreaking tool for scouting players and teams.
The most notable data point I came away with was that Ruben Rodrigues made the most ‘smart passes’ in the country last season with 131. A smart pass is defined as: A creative and penetrative pass that attempts to break the opposition's defensive lines to gain a significant advantage in attack.
To give you a reference point of just how high that is, not a single player in League Two had more than 40. Chaplin and Bannan ran away with it in League One with 58 each, third had 39. Mendez-Laing had 16 as our best midfielder in that regard, Knight second with just 12. The app also clips videos of several different indicators for each match - 40 minutes dedicated to just Ruben Rodrigues touches, 175 videos. He’s a talented football, a little bit of a grafter and based on what I’ve seen I would be surprised if he didn’t make the step up comfortably. The only reference point that I felt fell short was his impact on the counter attack, but he’s definitely got a bit of physicality. I think with a full, professional pre-season then he genuinely could be a diamond at this level.

We've already got one J.Knight, and I for one am not prepared to deal with the level of nonsense of having more than that...
Unless the plan is to actually line up with the "Jason Knight Knight Knight" chant? In which case we need one more...

Roberts has massively improved in terms of getting forward and gets as many crosses in as Sibley. In games where we have been struggling, he is the one that has driven us forwards. The only player to come out of the last game with any credit.

The problem on Saturday looked to stem from Curtis to me. He was leading the defensive line and we were a 15 yards deeper than normal. The midfield also dropped, which left the 3 in no man's land and Collins isolated.  We were too deep to press effectively so gifted them possession.
It also meant we had to go long and that failed because they had a huge height advantage. We should go back to Smith, Fozzy, Cashin and Sibley as the back 4. The rest will then fall back into place.

Fair point. I like them both, but I like Sibley further forward more.
Knight isn't available,  push McGoldrick up a bit and Sibley playing just behind him. Don't need a target man who can't get anywhere near crosses.

I think Sibley is better at left back. He's an adequate defender, but offers a lot to the attack. I also think that McGoldrick and Knight are better 10s than Sibley.
Roberts is a better defender than Sibley, but more static. That invites pressure down that side and makes us disjointed. I think the defence as a whole is better with Sibley,  although he will get 'done' on occasions where Roberts wouldn't, but it's the whole 'attack is the best form of defence ' thing.
