I just don't understand why someone would take umbrage with a taxpayer being angry with HMRC not collecting taxes from a multi million pound business.

I won't be signing the petition for obvious reasons, but I also wont take issue with anyone that did choose to sign it.

I'm not , if this bloke was from Aberdee. As he's from a club16 miles down the road there may be another agenda rather than the public purse.

What other people, clubs or companies are doing is irrelevant.

So could I ring the Treasury and say I'll pay 25% of my tax bill this year but not to worry because I'll pay 100% going forward? Think I can guess what the response would be.

Not really how is it irrelevant.  Suggest you get on and sign his petition to finish us of if you feel so strongly.  If you owed 30 million you'd pay 35 % with another chunk over 2 years. 25% won't be accepted. I pay PAYE so it's taken at source.  In actual fact, as a director you can take a loan instead of paying tax, buy a Ferrari and then wind the business up before the due date of paying it back.   Don't fill tax returns in, get a determination and pay far less than is due. This has gone for years.  HMRC should be keeping a closer watch on this kind of accruing debt.

There's not really much to disagree about what they say is there?

This debt has come about by a multi millionaire, paying other millionaires salaries, and the people that will pick up the tab is the taxpayer.

We look at it through Derby tinted glasses but if it was another club I'd think exactly the same as this person.

Of course, i don't want to see us liquidated but if we do find any new owners, and they buy the club under the agreement of paying the creditors a single penny less than what they are due, our club will be tainted.

Lets be honest.  That's not why he did this and how many individuals avoid tax by living abroad or calling themselves a brand. It's not ideal but having Derby County existing does more for the treasury long term than a celebrity paying tax abroad and coming back to the UK   for 90 days.

Some forest wet wipe has set up this petition

Make Derby County pay the £39m outstanding to HMRC

    John Smith started this petition

Derby County have ab outstanding tax bill of £29m. Along with a significant amount to Derby Council.

Derby are currently in administration and are actively negotiating to reduce these debts. This cannot be allowed to happen. Rewarding profligate behaviour and a refusal to pay taxes hurts us all. Why should the public stump any money up for a badly run business.

Force Derby to sell all assets and pay the tax they owe, its right and its fair. If you disagree try not paying your council tax next month. Why are Derby special. They aren't. Make them pay.

worst case is if Rooney resigns from Derby....no compensation which could be crucial

now seen the Ferguson news interesting if correct.

There'll be caveats in place if he left Derby and appeared at Everton a week later .  Think they have form for it though with Watfords manager.  Would like to think if he did go, he would want to help the club to get some compensation and might pay the right fee if he takes Knight with him.

He might be a lawyer or judge in the States but he does not appear to understand how the system works over hear. I have been at companies in administration twice and never known what any offers to creditors were but he is asking the interviewer to obviously does not know. Also he knows why Derby were late publishing the financials but failed to say what his proof was other than he knows. Would like to see him rely on his so called knowledge in a court of law.

Far as I no they weren't late .  They were filed fine for 3 years , then they appealed, then we were told to resubmit by an agreed date.  Take it up with the EFL and their procedure.

Shouldn't these also be tweeted to @boro (the official handle) and/or with the #UTB hashtag to make club and its fans realize their actions have consequences? Surprised that's not in the Ramstrust tweet.

Wouldn't bother I've seen their twitter replies.  Tried the human consequence before as have others for months.  Aggression is all they understand now to make life uncomfortable.  This way of doing things has got us further in 3 days than 3 months of softly, softly.  It's always the way.

The issue that they're putting across is that they can't start to negotiate as they don't know how much of a fighting fund the club have left to allocate as the administrators still haven't agreed how much they are to offer HMRC, Dell etc.

They wouldn't know that as their not creditors. There'll be nowt for them as their not creditors.  Any fighting fund will go to existing creditors "I have experience of these things having been a trial lawyer". YE GODS.  Shall I write this backwards on some paper and staple it to his forehead, I doubt he'd notice .  Then he can have the answer when he looks in the mirror every day in case he forgets.

Thank you. That's the answer I was looking (and hoping) for.

Now why oh why didn't Dawes research that beforehand and point it out to Couhig?

The biggest one missed was why anybody in there right mind would swap relegation for a 6 million pay out that is likely to be binned off knowing they'll be 2 million worse off immediately and potentially have an 8 million swing either way in perpetuity without promotion.

20 odd games with bare bones and survival, or liquidation?  I honestly don't see what the other solution is?

Lawrence goes for 500k-1m and considering his wages are discussed as being between 25-37k per week, that's a combined income and saving of between 1.5m - 1.8m.  If it is £5m needed.  That's down to potentially £3.2-3.5m.

Who else is out of contract in the summer? Roos, Byrne... there are others.  Or if you can get it done in one hit with a Knight sale, then go for it.  Although ideally sell the out of contract players and make the money/savings that way, so the big assets can be sold under stronger terms when a PB is named.

The squad could agree to take a 4 month reduction in wages which would drastically reduce the wage bill.  Perhaps more for those on the big dollars.  As long as it's voluntary can't see there would be an issue.  Would make another statement in the eyes of the public as well.   Its not unknown in business, I've taken  a 20 % pay cut in the past to ensure others stay in work.
