Dordogne-Ram reacted to angieram in UEFA Euro 2024 Thread
I exercise that faith of unconditional support for Derby. I give them my full backing because it's who I am and because I see the effort and ups and downs of each and every one of those players over a long, hard season.
England, I don't feel a lot of loyalty to them. I don't know the individuals and only see fleeting glances of their genius week in, week out on highlights shows, exacerbated by the hyperbole of pundits. As such, I am presented with their absolute genius at a world level and therefore do expect them to do better when collected together for England.
If it was a stroke of genius to bring on Ivan Toney, why wait until the 93rd minute to do so? And we moan about Warne for late subs!

With cycling there's always the spectre of drugs in the background.
With Cavendish ...he really just hangs in there most of the time and then uses his skills to get on the right wheel and navigate between other riders, with a burst of power to get clear over a few yards....so to my mind there's a lot less concern that its all a bit 'suspect'.
His ability and courage are there to be seen and feel very human. Riders powering up mountains after weeks of effort seem almost extra-terrestrial or robotic. His personality helps with that too. It doesn't feel like it comes easy, it feels emotional and raw.

Dordogne-Ram got a reaction from Chester40 in Cavendish...
To ride away from the current top sprinters at 39 years of age is remarkable.
It was widely speculated in the press when he announced that he would ride this year’s Tour that he might be “ allowed” to get his 35th stage victory to surpass Eddie Merck record. There was no doubt that today he won on merit, with a victory reminiscent in many ways to his win at Brive around 2017, where he jumped from wheel- to -wheel as his team mates fell away. Never has a stage winner received the acclaim from fellow riders which he received today.
Andre Darrigade was widely regarded as the previous best sprinter, with 22 stage wins, and few others, if any, have reached double figures.
Well done “Cav”, and let’s see what tomorrow brings…..!

Fair play to him for sticking to his guns and wanting to play in midfield. Wasted at wing back and he never got a run of games in the centre of the pitch under Paul Warne. I feel really bad for him to be honest, I posted about it six months ago.
A dream start to his DCFC career, he looked a menace, running past players and scored that hat trick at The Den. COVID ruined the team's momentum completely. We were on course to mount a play off challenge and without our crowd, it killed the team's soul. The following season he picked up some injuries and there was no chance Sibley was being selected over Rooney's mate Ravel Morrison. The little niggling injuries that season didn't help either. Due to the lack of squad depth, Sibley has been shoe horned as a wing back over the past two seasons and never had more than 2 games on the trot in his favoured position, other players given numerous chances in attacking areas down the middle yet Sibley never received as many.
Clearly he didn't move for financial reasons, I'd be amazed if Oxford increased his salary. Good luck Louie, I think you'll be ace for Oxford 🐏

I think we'll have a young PL striker on loan. If so, it will be a late one, so we have plenty of time for full-scale panic before then.

I'm glad about this. It's important to keep at least some of the key members of the "dressing room" together if we want to continue with the brilliant team spirit and togetherness that they had last season.
I doubt he'll be such a key player on the pitch for us this season but, there will be many times that we'll need his fight and rough 'em up attitude in order to get a result.

Sad about this. Thought would be the case with extended backpacking holiday - felt as if it was a taking stock type of break. Feel he had his spark taken out of him trying too hard not to get booked and was never the same. Hope Cocu recommends him to someone who can reignite his career just not against us. Good luck Louie

Gutted. Loved the early Sibley, but we ruined him a little and he lost that edge that made him an exciting youngster.
He still was a major player in our promotion last season. The rebuilding job has just got even bigger. We need an awful lot of players in now. I think we needed to keep that DNA of the promotion side. It will be difficult to replicate what Bird and Sibley bought to the squad ethos as well as their quality.

Same here, but no good trying to keep a player that wants to move on. Good luck Sibs wherever you end up.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Ambitious in Sibley gone
I'm really disappointed with this due to a number of factors, but I always felt for him to get to where he needs to be then it would have to be away from Derby. I suspect he will have a good move lined up somewhere.
Genuinely one of the very best players I have seen (not just for us) at a Premier League academy. How it's got to this point genuinely baffles me.

Dordogne-Ram reacted to Carl Sagan in Sibley gone
Mismanaged, and a terrible waste of such a talent. A little like Elsnik. But it was heartbreaking to see him shackled at Derby, a bit part left back. I still think he has a very high ceiling, and will cheer him on as he tries to reach it elsewhere.
Not had time to read the DCFC piece. Guessing we haven't offered a contract of comparable value so we won't get compensation? Just a guess. If his agent is decent I could see him going to a lower Prem team, or one clearly fighting for promotion to the Prem.
Goodbye sweet prince...
