How on earth has MM got involved with this Spanish twit? I mean come on, this is just embarassing now and reinforces the sentiment on just how much of a joke we have become. I am honestly speechless. The level of board room incompentence in the running of this great football club is staggering. We were taking the mickey out of Fawaz up the road, but this is just a whole new level! Please, please scrap this Alonso.

It's fantastic news that this liar, this charlatan, this tool, won't be getting his hands on Derby County Football Club.

This whole long drawn out saga of prospective investors and buyers is a complete and utter farce.

Because they don't know what it is and what it entails. It's just a term that football fans have picked up over the years and now use without any real understanding.

I'm not a master of finance by any means but using the club's own assets to free up cash to enable the deal strikes me as a particularly leveraged form of 'buy out'. This might be more palatable news if we had any idea who the actual backers are and an estimate of their net worth or a semblance of a plan for the club but we have neither.  So, either there are secret backers (itself a problem) or he's literally refinancing the stadium to make this happen.. personally, if this article is true I'm not comfortable with this in the slightest and it stinks of how chancers buy football clubs.

The recruitment isn’t directly to blame, it’s just another symptom of the real problem - a lack of vision of what we actually want to be as a club.  Do we want to develop academy players, do we want to sign cheap players and add value before we sell them on, do we want to make big name signings, do we want a young hungry squad, or an experienced one, do we want to play attacking football, do we want to be hard to beat, do we want to play possession football and so on.  Until someone, somewhere is making those decisions, we’ll be stuck in a cycle of making random signings, random managerial appointments and year-on-year decline.

But that is again down to coaching too. Vydra value increased because he actually got played in his natural position. If we had signed Watkins, Toney etc we would have ended up using them the wrong way and they wouldnt have had their value increase like they had. Brentford signed PBoro top scorer Toney, we did the same with Marriott & look how different they have both gone on to do.

There is still hope.  There is every chance an exhausted Rotherham will fail to win on Tuesday, leaving us needing just a point against Sheff Wed.  We saw how poor Sheff Wed were today.... it's definitely possible, even playing as poorly as we are.
Either way Rooney has to be sacked as soon as the season ends.

Rotherham have little in the way of quality.
What they do have, is guts, effort, determination... and 11 men on the pitch who look absolutely shattered at the final win, and despair at having lost that.

Agree 100! I remember Old Trafford and Elland Road...he showed his natural ability as a great striker.You don't get to perform like he did at those stadiums without pure instinctive ability.What went wrong behind the scenes I've no idea but I want him back in the summer.

A fully fit and committed Marriott would be an asset, not sure what the ongoing problem is....
