Either go for someone like Chris Martin who can hold the ball up or win headers etc or someone quick cause we have neither of those players upfront. we have 3 strikers that are all sort of similar, same thing with our midfielders too much samey type players or at least they are being told to play that way

The way some people are talking (not saying you are) we need a 6ft 5, 20 goal striker, who has pace and can out muscle defenders. That's Haaland or nobody. If you watch Bolton, their top scorer Dion Charles isn't particularly fast or strong but the team create chances for him. I'm sure if you put Waghorn in Bolton's team he'd do well.

I agree with you in part about the midfielders, but I wouldn't say Fornah, Hourihane and Sibley are entirely the same kind of midfielder

We need pace definitely and a pacy striker will be able to make us play in a different way and chances will be created.

You can't be slow and be a professional footballer anymore. without pace counter attacking football is hard to execute. If we had like 3 or 4 players with the pace of NML we'd be a lot more dangerous

How would pace have helped us in game like Stevenage for example who didn’t leave space behind? We’ve had pace with NML and Barkhuizen on the wings before and that hasn’t worked

That is what the club needs...stability. Given time, and hopefully some real money; I remain very confident that PW will succeed.

Where does stability come from though? Doesn’t stability overwhelmingly involve the owner and how money is spent? We could change manager and if it went badly we would remain in the very stable position of being a mid table L1 team. Why does keeping Warne determine stability?

  4. Everyone keeps saying we need a striker. Is this striker going to just create chances for themselves? I’m not sure what any striker is supposed to do if we continue to play this way. I agree with Phil Brown on Waghorn being an excellent striker at this level. He’s somehow managed 6 goals in 11 starts.

Our entire offensive play for the first 10 games of the season involved giving the ball to NML in RWB and hope he does something. In recent weeks we’ve resorted to simply long balling it and hoping our players can out fight the defender and it might fall to someone. What is a new striker meant to do?

How many of our squad weren’t playing regularly in the championship before they joined us? Bearing in mind that the likes of Cashin and Forsyth were doing it for us, I suspect it’s not many.  NML and Ward are 2, but both were regulars are League One promotion candidates.

Not including reserve players, only really Wilson, Wildsmith, Waghorn and John-Jules.

I think these players are good enough to finish in the top six, but I don’t think we have strengthened enough to finish in the top two. Results and consistency levels so far tend to reflect that.

I will readily admit Warne is also at fault. We should be comfortably in the top six, not having to win games in hand to sneak in there.

Things have to improve, whoever is in charge. But top two was always a tough ask because there are other competitive sides in the division who also spent the summer trying to improve.

I'm not sure there's much point arguing with you about the players because its your opinion. However, in my opinion Cashin is one of the best CBs in the league, who almost signed for PL Brighton. Bird is the best midfielder in the league who only didn't sign for Hull because of an injury.  Nyambe, Nelson and NML are some of the best in their positions. Waghorn has 6 goals in 12 games but for some reason isn't playing much. Even players like Fornah were playing impressively in the Championship least season.

Do you still think we should give Warne half the season like you were saying a few weeks ago?

I would understand you if we had finished 3rd or 4th last season, but we finished 7th. So top 6 is a step forward, like it or not.

We finished behind Bolton, Barnsley and Peterborough. Blackpool always looked best placed to compete from the relegated sides. So that’s at least three strong teams we need to outdo. Then you always have teams that surprise and emerge from the pack - this year the two being Portsmouth and Oxford.

Saying anything but 2nd is a failure would be fair if we had a group of players overwhelmingly better than the rest but I don’t see that personally and results tend to back that up unfortunately.

I'm not sure how last seasons position dictates what success would be this season. It just means Warne has failed two seasons in a row.

Why are you listing Bolton, Barnsley and Peterborough like they're amazing teams that it's natural we'd finish behind? We were the odds on favourites for promotion at the start of the season.

If you think the players aren't good enough that's your opinion, which I disagree with. But if they're not good enough, isn't that partly Warnes fault as well?

I don’t think it’s an impossible position to recover. We have plenty of time to find form, claw back points and find ourselves in the top six. We could win both games in hand and be in 6th, for example.

The fact is we should be challenging for the top 2, and in that regard it looks like the position is unrecoverable. Finishing top 6 shouldn't be the goal, anything below second is a failure.

    NML                                 Barks

                      Waghorn

    …………………………………………………………

Fornah as the ball winning midfielder allowing bird and houriane to get further forward to support wag horn

NML and barks to use their main asset which is pace!

    take the shackles off!!!!

This the exact line up I'd like to see, but in a 4-3-3 possession in the midfield is the most important part. Warnes systems seem to bypass the midfield entirely with long balls so I can't see it ever working.
