Still waiting for someone at Forest to sign the transfer form. Ian and Stu have:

From Give It To Moore – He Will Score:
‘Come on then, Ian, let’s start talking. We need you. We want you. I’ll get you back in the England team. But we’ve got to ask you a few questions about your personal life. Right, are you a boozer?’
‘Not really, Mr Clough. I drink with the players but only a glass of wine or half a pint.’
    ‘Are you a womaniser?’
‘No, I’m married now, Mr Clough. When I was younger, absolutely, I was chasing the girls like anyone else.’
    ‘Are you a gambler?’
‘No, not really, the odd flutter now and again but I wouldn’t say I’m a gambler.’
    ‘Do you smoke?’
‘No, I’ve never smoked, Mr Clough.’
Clough turned to Taylor, ‘Peter, we can’t f****** sign him, he’s a f****** liar!’
Then Clough looked back at Moore, ‘Right, come on then, son, how much do you want?’
Moore was on his own, no agent, no advisers: he had to think on his feet. He decided to see if Clough would match the terms O’Farrell, through his journalist friend, had ‘offered’ but reneged upon.
    ‘£200 a week, Mr Clough.’
‘£200 a week? Roy McFarland’s not on that.’
‘I know that, Mr Clough, but I can guarantee you 20 goals a season.’
‘Listen son, if I want a f****** guarantee, I’ll buy a f****** washing machine.’ And after a pause, ‘Don’t worry, son, I’m only kidding!’

Tim Ward and Breedon Books set up the Derby County Former Players' Association long ago. Here are some images of players only a few will remember, at the Donington Thistle Hotel I think it was, the first sponsored dinner held. Since then (1991) they have raised many thousands for charity. I don't think Ikechi Anya ever got an invite. Tim's son, Andrew, wrote The Derby County Story, which was launched that evening. Breedon's Anton Rippon is behind Tommy Powell, dad of Steve Powell. I have more images that I need to dig out and share.

I have no idea what those stats mean to be honest, Thompson winning 61% of aerial duels tells me they’re absolute nonsense though. Is about 5 foot tall.

Woods has obviously declined somewhat but I’d be amazed if Thompson ever plays even half the amount of championship games woods has. Woods still played 30 games the last two seasons in the championship.

Past comms from the club have indicated we are no longer under restrictions from EFl or at least these have been eased. Clowes said we have a big budget. Neither of these statements are consistent with what Warne has said or with the summer activity so far. So who is telling the truth.. is Warne just bluffing?

I'm sorry, but am I the only one that finds it amazing that many here have no football knowledge at all? Who's Sonny Bradley, never heard of him I've read. Curtis Nelson where does he play? This Conor Washington we've signed, is he any good? Ryan Woods – you couldn't miss him with his ginger hair and should know that Brentford paid a million for him from Shrewsbury when they got promoted into the Championship, he'll have played 20 times against Derby. The younger here, I thought they lived their life playing Football Manager and knew every footballer in the world.

Sometimes moves work, sometimes they dont, all it takes ia for it to click at a club and a player gets back to form.
Used to think he was a class player when at Brentford, seems to have gone from club to club since then but maybe we could be the team where he gets his form back.

The thing with Waggy as a free agent is that he's on £0 a week... I agree he wouldn't be a starter ...I agree he'd get 10+ goals a season at this level...and also agree that he'd give us depth to the squad... which we don't have on the front line. Not an ideal but younger more prolific players don't exist at this level...

Shouldn't we all be thinking of Rhodes as being another McGoldrick? The similarities are there for many to see, yet mostly, the negatives are his scoring record is not what it used to be (if it was we'd need to find £5m), his hair is thinning and he can't run the 100m in under 11 seconds? A rotation of Collins, Washington and Rhodes, with a little bit of Dajourne Brown, maybe some Sibley and Barkhuizen thrown in, looks okay to me for building a squad to get us out of this division. At least most have heard of him, know what a excellent career he has had, and didn't have to look him up on Wiki.

Of course it's not the future. Unfortunately for our future to get any brighter we need out of this league. So we need a short term fix. We don't have money to spend so there isn't a great deal out there.
We don't need him to hit 25 goals mate.
We need him to chip in. If all 3 strikers can get 10-15 goals each then that's fine.
    We're in League One.
Other ones mentioned like Afobe and Assombalonga are similar in the respect that their careers have taken a bit of a nosedive. But all three would potentially be capable of 10-15 goals in League one imo.

I would not consider Washington and Collins to be similar, but I can certainly see them developing a partnership. I'm hoping the team and the style of play that Warne is planning is one that wins matches. Some tinkering, yes, but built around this squad he has assembled, with his preferred wing-backs and lots more shots from outside the area. I don't think Manchester City would want a speedy Vardy signing just in case Haaland is ineffective, similarly with Kane at Spurs etc.
If there was a noticeable weakness last season it was the inability to convert hundreds of corners and free-kicks in the opposition box. The delivery was always excellent, but the threat was rare. Cashin, Bradley and Nelson will be a different proposition and Washington and Collins [and Rhodes] can feed off any knockdowns, that is their strength. I am wishing for an extra 15 goals to come via that this season and the front two players to deliver 30 goals collectively, whatever the combination.

Always struck me as a player that never hid on the pitch and left everything out there. A player who in his pomp would be an ideal candidate for a Paul Warne side.
If he can transfer his never say die skills into his coaching career then he should fit into PW set up seamlessly. Could be a shrewd appointment.
