I was optimistic until I saw the bit about EFL behind closed doors!  That sounds like the worst of "old boys" club applications where you could be black balled and never know who objected to you. On the other hand if EFL play that sort of game the outcry about bias and vested interests will be enormous and not just from Derby fans but various MPs as well.
I'm less fussed about the ground ownership. Pragmatic financial considerations will win out and we'll be fine.

Oldham were founder members of the Premiership and have suffered a remorseless slide into non league. Having flirted with liquidation, an owner the fans really dislike it, hero players coming back to try to save them, it is all over. It will be 30 years to the day after the start of the Prem that they start their non league adventure.
Could it happen to the Rams, of course it could. Just hope our new owner can halt the rot.

None of us know what the deals at Preston were like. Could be as soon as he looked under the kilt it was obviously not for him! I think decisiveness is a positive attribute. If you are making an error the sooner you know and can react.

Back in 68 or 69 I was playing for a youth club team at the racecourse. Normally a winger I was playing right back as we were short of defenders.
I was getting completely skinned by this lad so after the 5th or 6th time I got fed up and totally took him out. 2 footed and late. Got sent off and this unmistakeable voice booms out from the touchline " Don't give up the day job lad"
My career for the Rams was finished there and then.

It has been suggested that the Rams are the stakes in a poker game. All the main bidders plus EFL and Q are playing a game.  37 years ago Del boy showed us all how to play poker and win! Hopefully posting the link is allowable. If not: Google Del boy poker.

I agree Derby County is a fundamental part of people's lives, it can't just be defined as a football team. To me personally its memories.  Happiness...sadness..glory days and depressing days.. but days that form a bond inside of every fan.
I have supported this team all of my life..loved every minute of it..like others I've never lived in Derby but visited the place enough that it feels like family.
Today was a sad day for me, got a phonecall early in the morning here telling me my dad had been rushed into hospital back in the UK..87 years old and the doctor said he had fluid around his heart...his heart was failing..im a long way away in Canada..I called him on Whats App...what did he say to me? When does the game start.  Don't miss the game I'm fine....
He was off for tests..I watched the game the boys made me proud again as they do so often and I had another memory another addition to the bond of the Derby fan. My dad improved during the day, long way to go but they are pleased with him, responded well to the meds..will have a procedure on Monday that they hope will sort him out.
So life goes on..a traumatic day passes  in the life of a Derby fan.

People keep referring to our fan base, like it will stay around forever. We're all getting older and at this rate a lot will drop off the perch before this deal is done, Youngsters are not that bothered by live footy anymore and League 1 will not be that attractive to new blood.
I see a 40% drop in average attendance to say 15000. No local Derbys to spice it up!

I sense a bit of sarcasm there which is fair enough. True fans really want to get involved but the practicalities are absolutely enormous in becoming fan owners. : Step one the club is liquidated, say 5000 fans want to put some money in to start up a new club. Do any of them know how to go about doing that, who to talk to, the legal stuff? So maybe a few richer fans will sort of float to the top and begin to draw up a plan.
Then the fun starts; "who put you in charge? X or Y will do a far better job! I want my money back, nobody said it wold cost this much!"
All the while the clock is ticking. Another season is lost. It would be slightly easier to buy and rename Mickleover Sports.
As far as supporting a Premier side, why not? Top players are a joy to watch and appreciate, and supporting one team adds a bit of spice to televised games. I still follow my boyhood team Torquay, although it must be 50 years since I last saw them play. In those days I also followed Wolves for some long lost reason, and I still have a certain fondness for them. Logic doesn't come into it!
As someone said "Spread the love".....Just don't tell the wife!

Whilst it sounds very attractive, of the fans, for the fans, at the end of the day somebody has to actually run the show and make the big decisions; find and spend the money. Would fan owners be happy  to shell out extra dosh year after year until we reached the promised land of the Prem.
Who decides and how is it decided? Who picks the CEO and what are his terms of engagement? You don't have to have worked in business to know that the more people there are involved in making a decision, the longer it takes and the less likely a successful outcome. Look at families deciding what to do for a holiday!
So to me fan owned is a pipe dream!
