thanks @OwenB87 got to have laugh somewhere.  Thanks for a good show last night I thought the 3 of you were honest even if you are expected to be partisan.  I think I may have given up a few weeks ago without you guys

Thanks Spanish - I laugh because it's nice to not have someone moaning about the stream going down, for a change!

All you can do is be honest after performances like that!

Not sure if you’ve noticed but as a fan base we suffer from paranoia.

Sky Sports hate us, Prutton and Goodman hate us, the BBC hate us, Daily Mirror and Mail hate us, Kenny Bur....forget that one.

With everyone hating us I’m not surprised at the requests to have a Derby County fan commentate, one of our own.

Call me weird but I tend to zone out from all TV commentators, mix it into the background noise coming from the Dog, I can see what’s going on with my eyes.

The personal preference thing is key here, you will never please everyone regardless of who you stick behind the microphone.

Even the much loved Graham Richards has his dislikers.

You could say we’re all just a bit different and I like it that way.

Oh I'm well aware of the paranoia mate! Which always makes me chuckle, because most of the media types I come across tend to have a soft spot for Derby!

I'll always go back to Bloomers - excellent journalist, broadcaster, and a good commentator. But got stick because he wasn't a Derby fan - bonkers.

Partially right from my perspective but I can sense in his core he is not a Derby supporter and at best he is neutral no matter how hard he will try.  He is not that good a commentator to compensate for this either.

With the risk of going a little off-topic here, that's something else I've never understood. Doesn't matter to me one jot who a commentator supports. But it's all personal preference eh!

NB: The other suggestion remains a brilliant one too (if I do say so myself): permit the matching of Radio Derby descriptions with the telecast please. I'd be happy to pay a premium for the ability to do that...and recognise that aligning them is my problem. ?

I must say, I remain slightly baffled by the desire of many for this.

The biggest complaint I see about Jack's commentary is that he talks too much . . . you'd get even more talking from the radio comms, if anything!

As I'm learning from doing 23s, 18s and the odd first-team game, commentating for TV is a very different skill to radio commentary.

Technically I think it's too much of a challenge for us to sort anyway.

On your other suggestion, I'll mention it again here, but I don't really have any say on that side of things!

We really should have been given a heads up about this.

    Will this happen again?

I’m told it was in the PR beforehand, though I admit I haven’t read any of it myself.

I’m sure other games will be picked for Sky/Pitch International, yes. Again, I think it’s usually advertised in advance.

Absolutely shocking. Very disappointed considering the fact it costs a tenner. If people in power want to prevent us not paying and watching them on illegal sites, this has to work. This isn't the first time it's happened either, it's an on going theme

If you’re in the UK, should be working fine.

  7. Hi folks,

The game today isn’t available worldwide because it’s been picked by Pitch International.

That means it’s only available in selected countries that aren’t covered by that deal.

That should have been made clearer beforehand, so sorry for that.

Could you remind Jack that TV comms are different to radio? ?

I've really been enjoying RamsTV this season. Much improved from last season (which I also appreciated) in my opinion.

My only minor criticism (other than my mild issues with the regular commentary) has been with some of the camera work in the odd game. We occasionally cut to a camera that's fully zoomed in on an unfocused section of something, then sharply juts around until it re-finds the action.

Has happened rarely, but is quite jarring when it does ?

Out of interest, what would you say has improved?

Yeah, it’s not perfect every time, unfortunately. I’ve noticed it too when I’ve been on comms particularly.

May I say that @OwenB87 commentary was very good tonight.

Not afraid to leave pauses whilst the ball is in play. Mr Edworthy complements him well too.

Well done to both of you.

The studio seems a lot brighter too. I don’t know if it’s lit differently or my device was set too low last time.

I believe in giving praise as well as criticism.

Well done to the RamsTv team.

Cheers mate. Still very new to TV comms, it's a very different beast to radio.

Just  an observation, I think the Ramstv studio set is way too dark, added to that the hosts wearing black like in the Hull review show makes it very dark.

Can it not be a bit brighter?

The old view out onto the pitch was good, maybe that space has been taken back by corporate?

Even a view from moor farm would be better?

    just my opinion @OwenB87

We really like the new studio design, though lighting it can be a nightmare. I think it's a personal preference thing.

As a rule, we shoot out of the window for home games and the Review & Preview Shows connected to it. That was the case last season too.

I'd love a second studio space somewhere, but it's not on the cards at the moment.

Ah I get you, you were too busy filming unveiling interviews yesterday for the suprise new arrivals this week!

Yeah, I was scrambled to Moor Farm to speak to Luke Thomas and Fikayo Tomori - but at least it gives us something else to talk about today!

    Agree with a few others.

Owen has done a good job on commentary. Better than either jack woodhouse or ed dawes. And shane isalways excellent.

    Nice one Melvyn.

    Thanks for the kind words.

TV comms is a very different skill to radio. Though I think TV & radio combined I've only done maybe 30 commentaries over eight years.

Martin Fisher is the man, IMHO.

@OwenB87 the current audio on RamsTV for this game is perfect. If there's any way to pass the message along for it to stay like this for the season it would be massively appreciated ?

Also, any news on the pup? Hope all is well mate

Will do. I’m not sure if we did anything differently today!

Thanks for asking about the pooch - she’s getting there, thank you.

  14. Hi folks,

Apologies for all the issues people are having with the service.

I'll do my best to pass on the details.

And sorry if anyone was tweeting me on Saturday - I was in Munich and in no fit state to reply to anything.

Just on the confusion about what games we can and can't stream. If it's a Sky pick or the international pick, we can't show it in any territory with an EFL broadcast deal. While Villa wasn't on Sky, it was the international game, which is why some Rams abroad couldn't watch it with us.

And while I'm here, don't forget the Preview and Review Shows - watch them for free every week ?

    @OwenB87

noticed you didn't show vyds peno shout and the sending off at half time.  New rules relating to contentious decisions?

Not new rules, and to be honest I think we'd have been okay to show them.

But given the Bristol City game, we thought it best to be safe !

Rather than mess about with their own tech wouldn't it be better to broadcast the stream through YouTube  or Facebook.

Unfortunately we can't, due to various broadcast restrictions and limitations of those platforms.

I'd wager that our tech is much more robust than what the rest of the FL is using. We've certainly got significantly more people watching and the product is better.

I think the problems on Saturday might have been to do with a surge of Middlesbrough fans trying to watch, but I don't know.

But rest assured it is being worked on ??
