Not sure we need to worry about what Ipswich are doing. There is no need to spend 7 figure fees on players at this level which is why no one else is doing it
I don’t think anyone is worried at others spending money but it does put pressure on them to perform

Only kidding of course.
Nearest biggest club side to ourselves though

Just seen that Ipswich have signed Nathan Broadhead for £1.5m. I’m surprised he’s gone for such a little fee I was under the impression he was highly thought of.
Plymouth have made 5 signings and I’m pretty sure Bolton have added to their squad.
If Derbys chance of promotion was tough before jan, the inability to strengthen considerably is a right royal kick to the balls. It’s hard to remember when signing players in January actually helped us when going for a possible promotion ? - possibly Bamford? I do agree that we need a another centre forward which is obvious. Leon Osman was a decent loan when we were fighting relegation one year.
I much prefer to see a high team morale than signings that cause unrest with others doing a decent job

When have Ipswich spent heavy in the last 3 seasons
Spending money on transfer fees is spending heavy in these parts ?

When Rooney signed, some of his touches, vision and passing were the best I've seen from a Derby player in donkey's years.
DM has the same level of skill but with vastly superior general mobility and proper, decent pace over the first 5 yards.
He also has a magical ability to get his body in the right place to deny opponents a sniff of getting the ball, thus drawing fouls........seemingly invisible to the Accrington ref.
For me, best signing in ages........amongst a lot of decent LR signings.
Also we happen to be playing in the third division! - recently we have been playing a lot of the more naff teams which has helped but let’s enjoy it !

Iirc, last time Barkhuizen was injured PW suggested he didn’t really know when he’d be back because ‘Tom doesn’t seem to be very in touch with his body’. I hope he’s ok because he’s had a great run recently
Btw someone should gently point out to PW that mermaids don’t have legs.
How do you know mermaids have no legs ? Have you seen one?

Under normal circumstances, Sat 3pm would be great. However, unpopular as this may be, I'm hoping for a Monday night TV, as that'll be the only time I can make it! Was really hoping for Spurs/Arsenal/West Ham away as in London for the weekend.
Good draw for us though, we should feel like we have a chance, regardless of the team West Ham field. Not saying we're going to win but should be competitive at least.
I agree that those in bold will probably be picked. I'd add Wrexham to that list given that they're the only National League team confirmed in R4 vs Sheffield Utd who will take a following.
I'd feel sorry for Chesterfield if they won their replay and weren't selected but I think the broadcasters made it clear with their R3 selections that they're only interested in "big" clubs. I think we're probably next in the pecking order below those 4, provided that Borehamwood don't win their replay and draw Leeds.
I think any TV company wants a ground that is full or it’s a bit naff - like most of the championship this season

There are probably the same crazies on here who somehow didn't think we lost to Mansfield in the Pizza Trophy!
The bookies said we didn’t lose but we drew - I know as it says so on the payouts ?

Warne has changed his tune a bit with regards to signings, we have gone from saying we WILL be making signings, to, it would be nice if we did, but not the end of the world if we don't.
I wonder if we are having to wait to sell Bielik before anything can happen.
Maybe the ones available are not any better than what we have currently? Plus any potential loans in want guaranteed game time which is totally unacceptable and erodes team morale

You really think we can beat West Ham? They’re two divisions above us with a squad worth about 300m. Just saying it’s a good draw because a loss won’t damage team confidence
So what we spent £100,000 ten years ago on a regular full back who been playing centre half - what’s money got to do with it - teams and effort win football matches and we have both - I have always believed we can win any game we are playing since we were champions of England - if we had a manager who didn’t think we could win I would want them out the door immediately for example Clement - Pearson

West Ham have been known to field pretty much a reserve team. I would hope we give them a game at least. We can win.
If Moyes is still the manager they will field a very strong side

West Ham at home and on the TV I would say - great draw

We know that we need a right back but do we need a right back ?
we have Smith - Knight - Rooney who all can do a very decent job- 48 hours, richgee1976, Steve How Hard? and 2 others

You’re right, but therein lies the problem. We don’t know anything. I would hazard a guess that even David Clowes doesn’t know what the EFL will sanction in the summer - they might be more lenient/open to negotiation if we get promoted for example. Or less. Who knows?
Perhaps the EFL don’t even know themselves yet.I don’t think we should underestimate their desire to make an example of us to frighten the rest however well the Clowes ‘let’s get the EFL onside’ plan is going. They’ve got a number of clubs relying totally on the largesse of their owners post Covid and they’ll be terrified that clubs won’t find saviours and/or more will go into administration.
Meanwhile all and sundry in the championship are being allowed to write off huge losses due to anything they can think off and not being charged or deducted any points

With Paul Warne saying he had at least 1 player lined up, hopefully something happens before the end of this week.
Are we in a rush ?

Only until the end of the season - wouldn’t be worse than Osula was based on what I saw - as well as probably being available
11 hours ago, Carl Sagan said:There was talk of Warne hitting it off with Klopp when we went to Anfield. Would it make sense to ask for Kaide Gordon back on loan for the remainder of the season? Is he playing much in their academy? Surely an upgrade on the likes of Dobbin and Osula, or did he peak too early?
Been injured too much but the lad Ben Doak ? That they have who they took from Celtic is a seriously talented forward he even came on against us in the cup if I remember correctly- now he is a prospect
Serial Whingers Notts Forest playtime, which we simply cannot accept.
