Not a great history with Spurs loanees…

    El Hamdaoui… shudder

    Adam Smith… eurgh

    Tom Carroll… oh dear god.

Correct - El Hamdaoui - cost us Huddlestone sell on clause and add ons, England appearances catch - he was injured all the time!
Smith did ok I suppose to be replaced early on by wisdom and Carroll was a child and we were forced to play him every game and our midfield opened up like a black hole - I shudder

Smith staying at right back then, sensible.

It might mean that - it’s transfer deadline day we might have a bid in for some of ours and we wouldn’t be wanting to lose Jason Knight would we who is a midfielder just as this guy is apparently

  3. Would be nice if we could and also afford to recall Belick but it doesn’t appear to be possible

we may be past the point when we can recall him ?

could afford to have all his wages back with us?
would he want to return to league one?
would Birmingham allow him to return especially as they have decided to return to type and become relegation candidates again

Plange to Lincoln? If we don’t sign a striker why were we not in for him?

His wages may well be high and his agent may want paying but the biggest issue is probably you have to play him in every game if he is fit - I wouldn’t want that situation

Tickets on sale for Barnsley away tomorrow. Just under 5,000 allocation.

I have a bit of a dilemma with this one, My son and especially my grandson is desperate to go to another away game ( Anfield being the last one) . I have twenty + membership but they only have 0-5 membership. To get 3 together I’ll have to wait for their category and hope they don’t sell out.

Not recommending it but there will be plenty of seats in the Barnsley stands if desperately wanting to take them

So how does the number of loanees named in a matchday squad work ?

I thought you could have quite a few loanees at the club but you can only name 5 in a matchday squad ?

If so, that's 1 who will be permanently named as we need a goalie on the bench, so this slightly restricts our other loan signings to 4 in a matchday squad.

McGee GK, Lewis Dobbin, Haydn Roberts , possible striker with Osula gone and maybe 1 other, CB or RB ?

We don’t have to include the new goalkeeper on a match day unless we need him to start as we have always had someone on the bench so far this season - all that said it still leaves us with the opportunity to recruit one more on loan and we don’t get the impression that we are looking for a lot

  7. Have the sensitive souls of West Ham and ITV been warned that most of the verbals from our support will be based on abuse of the EFL ( a personal favourite) and the manhood of Mendiz-Lang - we all know that Sky sports super impose a different sound for the wider audience but I am not sure ITV are up to it.

He’s come on Loan - he’s not making more money.

Unless he’s thinking the off season and wants to join on a permanent and then he could double or triple his wages.

It’s a good signing but I’d confused on his account.

You can and do on occasions pay more money in wages for loans and we are probably paying out more in wages for a reserve than FGR were for a starter

I agree.  The season we came fifth (88/89) didn’t we miss out on playing European football because of idiots at Heysel?  Nothing to glory in mindless violence for me sorry.

Personally it cost me going to football in my younger days, I missed a chunk from the age of about 8 until I was 13 or so, due to the fact that my dad was too worried I would get hurt.

Not big and very definitively not clever.

According to the Middlesbrough chairman we can sue Liverpool - how much do you reckon ?

Revived this thread to mention the Brighton vs Liverpool game.

How rubbish is VAR and the TV commentary? After the officials and VAR robbed Wolves outrageously in the third round to send Liverpool through, it looked as if they were goiing to do the same, but justice was done in the end.

A Liverpool defender who was the last man running behind McAllister who was through on goal, deliberately elbowed the Argentine very forcibly in the back of the neck to take him out, just outside the box. An awful foul that could have led to a serious injury, and was a clear red card for either of two things: the physical assault or deliberately preventing a goal-scoring opportunity. VAR is meant to review potential red cards, but the commentators said they coldn't look at this because it wasn't a penalty. Are they mad?

Earlier, Liverpool scored having won the ball via a deliberate handball, but the goal wasn't overturned.

And then at least one and possibly two more Liverpool players should have been sent off for despicable career-threatening tackles, but nothing was done. One on the achilles was dreadful. Another was on over-the-top stamp on the foot.

How is officiating at all levels so poor? And often seemingly so biased? Of course it's mad that if we go to a replay against West Ham, there will be no VAR at Pride Park but it would be used at the Olympic Stadium. Just as it's mad that VAR analysis isn't transparent and shown on the big screen in the stadium, the discussion between officials miked up for the fans. As it is in cricket where it works very well.

    Rant over.

It’s worse though because they play Everton next and should have been without the option of selecting those players against them

    lovely winning goal though

I posted on there.  When I read through their posts, it certainly seemed like they were a friendly enough bunch, and their Forum Admin positively encouraged me to post a few ramblings.  They gave me a really warm welcome, and as you say seem to have a certain amount of respect and love towards us…. I haven’t spent ages looking on there, but I think like us they do cherish their history, and are probably more humble as fans than some of the “big” PL clubs.

They are basically like us - feverishly loyal to their football team but without the championship titles - I don’t mind them but I will find you a good dozen of clubs from London that I don’t like !
That all means that they will travel in large numbers expecting to lose to a side that cost £100,000 paid ten years ago containing no one between the age of 22-29 who also can’t pay money for transfers and have an imposed budget whilst not allowed to pay any agents fees - if they choose to moan about anything after what we have gone through I would be disappointed - they also get to watch a game of football without VAR ! - we will have a lot more empty seats than when we play Morecambe on Saturday but then again we play twice a week since July with no World Cup interrupting anything - as always looking forward to watching Derby play anyone.

Morecambe currently smashing Bristol Rovers 4-0.

Won 4 of their last 5 (including today's assumed victory), scoring 13 in the process.

So probably not going to be as easy a win as perhaps we thought. Should still do em at home though.

    Great result for them
