I disagree, I thought that Plymouth were much the better team that day. I remember talking to my mates at HT when we were 2 up and we all agreed that we couldn't believe that we were winning, never mind being 2 up. Individually their goals were unfortunate but on the balance play, well deserved. They had twice as many shots on target and 58% possession against our LR possession based team.

I was mainly focusing on us being unfit at that period in time with our capitulation of the midfield with only having Bird and Hourihane in there come the second half of games - anyway we are much better in that department now that we have a manager who puts knight in central midfield

No surprise that the Morecambe keeper is 4th, played a blinder on Saturday despite conceding 5 goals

Which shows the problem with statistics!

Anyway there may have been plenty of others clubs support cheering when we just lost Max Bird our central midfielder and on field captain for 6-8 weeks

  4. I would have thought all those in the premiership ( or have been) will be very worried by what’s happening with Manchester City as in going back over ten years and in detail about those finances - I mean 30 players signed very quickly with a history of them swapping between a club here and one in Greece, what’s the chances of all that being above board ?
The main thing will be the other clubs not liking being pushed out of the premiership potentially and can afford to influence the direction of various future investigations - you tend to think that football can very quickly implode at the highest level and it looks like Manchester City clearly look exposed.

The hilarious thing is it's taken a through and through derby county player in Darren moore to get them there.

So basically,it's all about derby talent.

Strange thing that they for some reason took Marriott and Butterfield on loan of us - comfortably above £10 million badly spent

long live the ban on us paying transfer fees ?

  6. A couple of obvious thoughts - Chelsea have been giving out 8 year contracts etc to spread the player costs over a period of time which is basically what we did, not illegal not against the rules as written yet we got penalised well after the fact causing us being unable to be sold. Then covid hits and money runs dry and a microcosm away from destruction thanks to the actions of two other football clubs owners (never to be forgiven) no mention what happened to us!

secondly if as reported former managers and players at Man City were also being paid into bank accounts overseas as well into English ones for work based in the UK - they will owe the HMRC a fortune ( 45-50% of all money received I suggest) now I know our club didn’t ultimately pay everything owed to the HMRC due to administration but that’s not the case for Manchester City or their former players and hiding that money from taxation is illegal and should face charges. I assume the HMRC are all over this?

We will see, I think 2nd will be difficult for us. I think the 3 teams above us (as the table shows) have been the best teams so far.
im glad to be in the playoffs given the number of players we had in the summer

Absolutely - we assembled players to make a side but we were nowhere near being a team in those two months at the beginning of the season. Ultimately the silly game at home to Plymouth may well prove decisive where we were two nil up at half time but it was at a time when we were totally unfit due to having no pre season and Plymouth got a deflected goal and we’re allowed an off side second goal by the linesman followed by a dreadful mistake by one of our youngsters in the last minute to hand over the points which clearly now have a bigger relevance.

who’s the best side I have seen in the league who have come to pride park - no one but most of them have very limited defences when attacked property which usually means if you don’t let goals in you should win?‍♂️

  8. He’s missed stacks of chances this season - if he had scored a good percentage of them Everton would have recalled him or a championship club would have offered a decent loan amount for Everton to send him there. So I am glad he is still here and I am expecting him to start scoring those chances because they can’t continue to not go in.
He’s young and learning but he seems to be enjoying being here but wants to obviously get goals as well, I think he will

He was very decent on Saturday but he was outstanding at Port vale a few weeks ago, he complements mendiz Lang and Barkhauzen giving the opposition a torrid time down the flanks with the other young lad Springett looking enthusiastic as well.

id like to sign Dobbin full time but I don’t think Everton would release him to us on that basis unless they stay in the premiership which doesn’t look a great bet. It will be interesting to see how his career develops.

In fairness to some of the clubs in this division, despite our current restrictions, our wages budget far exceeds that of many clubs. The likes of Accrington are surviving on crowds about a tenth of Derby's. It makes you wonder how they can stay in business. A number of their players must be being paid not much more than the minimum wage.

The six groundsmen walking around the pitch with pitch forks at half time always get me wondering if they are on as much money as some of the opposition players

I’d like to play Wednesday on the last day to decide who wins the championship, both sides having already been promoted. I think that would be good. Might well happen too!

It’s hard to catch up when there are so many poor sides at this stage of the season as it’s difficult not to win for those who currently have a healthy points lead - all we can do is win our games and see what happens with the others

Or maybe those players that didn't respond to Pearson, would have responded to PW? Pearson and PW seem to be totally different characters, plus Pearson didn't get enough time, due to alleged off pitch incidents.

I’ll stick with Pearson playing Butterfield at wide left Hughes at defensive midfielder Hendrick on the Bench and Blackman as your best forward as being out of touch with what was available

  12. I would be very happy if Sheffield Wednesday won the league at a canter so long as we were second !
we are reaching a point where injuries and suspensions are starting to bite for all teams which can make the poorer teams increasingly weaker

we have lost our on pitch captain for 6-8 weeks from central midfield in Max Bird

Plymouth yesterday lost their centre half and time will tell if that affects them but they also lost their goalkeeper who they claim is their best player for possibly a little while - now if your goalkeeper is your best player you have a lot of other weaknesses you should be more worried about.
