One thing that consistently irritates me is how little fans talk of Lionel Pickering. Folks often talk about the great Jim Smith years (really our last glorious period) but they would never have happened without Lionel.
We also forget that Pride Park was also Lionel’s dream and vision - and he paid a good chunk of his own money to make it happen. In fact one really has to wonder why it wasn’t and isn’t called the Lionel Pickering Stadium.
Lionel in many ways reminds me of David Clowes albeit the latter is a more business-headed person. Lionel was a lovely man- maybe a bit gullible when he listened to everyone throwing their own advice and opinion in his ear at the pub……but a real Rams man.
Crikey, if there was one person who deserves a statue at Pride Park then it’s him.
(I would also like David Clowes to have the Club build a museum at the ground).

Steve McLaren deserves more respect for how good of a job he did in 2013/14. He quickly turned a promising but inconsistent team into an absolute force. Denied promotion by a freak of a game.

What a joyous end to a wonderful season. Huge congratulations to Leeds and Bolton for being the best in their leagues and doing **** all 😂

I think Rooney proved himself to be a good leader.  He galvanised everyone in adversity.  He really did become a figurehead when we needed him to be and brought everyone together - players, staff and fans.  But that’s what he is.  A figurehead and leader.  He needs football people and tacticians around him.  He fell a bit lucky with us that Rosenior and others were already here.  Whether it’s Plymouth or anybody else, it’s important he gets his back room staff right.  Get it wrong, and it might be his last gig.

Conor did his best and his best was often pretty classy, but essentially playing a 2 in MF did him no favours, indeed, even Bird struggled in a league where you have to have legs in the middle of the park. Irrespective, I think it's telling that the lads themselves made him their skipper and it was noted that he stuck staunchly by the team even when effectively benched late on in the season. No bitching, no ego, just help the team get over the line. I respect that. He's a good egg and has shown himself to be a seriously talented footballer and I wish him well in his future career as a coach. I'd not be at all surprised to see him do rather well.

Expect being good pro’s they both knew at that point, Conor going out on a high as you say, but Bradley sort of saying you did it mate (well I looked at it and that’s how I read it).
He’s a top bloke, even getting the team celebration lined up, shows what he mean’t to the others. He kind of had a Trevor Christie end of career impact on us, for that I wish him nothing but the best in the future; he’s part of our history now, however brief his stay.
