Jagielka signing reminds me of when we signed Alan Stubbs, hopefully it doesn't go the same way.

Bit disappointed that "3 bunches for a pound today" man doesnt make the starting 11.
He doesn't finish on the stall till half 3; second half impact sub.

I think we will be smart to look to overseas players out of contract,
Not sure of the brexit rules but any overseas players that we can afford to offer a contract aren't likely to be eligible for a work permit are they?

So I have a sneaky suspicion that we will actually fail P&S and they will wait as long as possible. If they release the updated accounts now, we fail P&S, its going to create a real poo show with regards to the amortisation and potential EFL appeal. The two should be separate, but the pressure will build and one could indirectly affect the other.
I think financially, we're in a worse position than many suspect. I hope I am wrong.
I have the same feeling, despite reassurances from people more accountancy-qualified than I am, and even self-appointment 'expert' Kieran Maguire.
In my mind we used the amortisation as a way to spend more, so obviously we will fail 'standard' P&S accounting as we weren't comparing our figures in this way. I'm probably (and hopefully) wrong!

On the off chance that the EFL aren't going to appeal, unless they quickly state that, we still have to wait two weeks before we can start trading properly again waiting for the clock to tick down - more punishment for us
That's not an issue, we haven't got a pot to pee in so we won't be buying!
Any decent free/out of contract players will have already been snapped up or commanding a high fee contract - doubtful we can compete with many championship clubs.

I'd rather save the money and give Duncan a go - he looked to be able to run around in a Waghorn-like manner!
I think there's more than enough holes in the squad for both Waghorn and Duncan to play a part (also I'm pinning my hopes massively on Stretton this season). Depends exactly how much Waggy is on and who we can get in to replace him with how much we can spend (even after embargo I doubt Mel will be willing to splash more cash on 'marquee' signings).
Any other season I'd be happy for Waghorn to leave (preferably we'd get some money for him) but I've a tiny sneaking feeling that this season we may be a little short on numbers.....

Except unlike Martin, last season Waghorn had been pants bar a few minutes here and there, and the last game of the season.
Absolute pants I agree, but currently absolute pants is better than the alternative of nobody nopants

Why likely? Thanks to the stadium sale, we were £17.5m within the limit.
Signings which will have a significant impact on the change in amortisation are: Thorne, Johnson, Butterfield, Blcakman, Vydra, Anya, Nugent, Lawrence, Wisdom, Huddlestone
Total amount spent on signings was about £58m.
Derby amortisation: £15m
Transfer profit: £20m (not including add-ons)At most that's a £23m swing (£5.5m over the limit). However, if we adjust the amortisation, we also need to adjust the transfer profits, notably Ince by approx £2.3m and £1.9m for Weimann. Minor changes for the likes of Jerome, Shotton, Christie and Albentosa add up for the rest.
Thank you GoC for taking the time to explain mate, whilst all is not rosy in the garden of Derby County it does look like we'll be within P&S using the 'standard' methodology.
-
Even if he wanted to come can we sign him?
Has Brexit put an end to signing foreign talent?
Under embargo would the tribunal fee be accepted?
Can we afford the tribunal fee?
-
Trouble is if we used the amortisation methodology as a way to increase spending/defer losses then we will likely be in breach of P&S when compared to the 'standard' methodology.
Losses/spending for amortisation would have been capped against a different criteria than for 'standard' methodology, we may have been within P&S using our method, but over if we now have to revert to 'standard' P&S methodology.
Not really our fault though if the EFL signed it off (three times - if we believe what we've heard).

Presumably they con only do that if the new P&S submissions are in breach of allowable losses?
Which they will be as we’ve used the amortisation as a loophole to spend more!

nothing will happen and we will be left scraping the bottom of the barrel again on transfer deadline day.
Think it’s just under 6 weeks until the season starts..... that’s absolutely plenty of time for the EFL to set the punishment, a takeover to be started and completed, accounts to be submitted and approved, embargo to be lifted, players to be signed and bedded in with the rest of the squad...... isn’t it???
-
Is there anything concrete on any of this? I mean are we even sure there’s any kind of takeover on the way??

How was he so unfit, at his age, to need over half a season to get fit? If I recall correctly his injury was towards the end of the season and could be attributed as much to fitness/condition as to bad luck.
He threw his toys out of the pram at Fiorentina for not starting in the first team, he should have been fit? If desperate for a move away then he would surely need/want to be in tip top condition?
He’s all ego, talks the talk but is all fur coat no knickers.

He’s not a good as Morgan Whittaker. Fact

Must be a difficult job for the recruitment team, one list for 'embargo signings', another for 'no-takeover' signings, a third for 'local-consortium takeover' signings and a fourth for 'Spanish/Saudi etc. £20m players, dodgy-deals-money no object' signings.

A season long loan would suit him surely? Sign a long term deal with us, a season in their first team, come back as our first choice?
