I once played 5 a side at Willows after all day bank holiday Sadlergate Monday drinking. As did the bulk of the players from both our team and the opposition. One of my workmates was watching (his son was playing for the opposition) and said it was the most hilarious games of football he had ever seen. Every single player seemed to think they were Maradonna apparently.
    Anyway. Scotland are absolute shyite.

Germany could have pulled me out of the Brunswick and put me in goal 4 hours after we'd beaten Carlisle at home and it would still be Scotland nil.

There are pros and cons. I agree that it's far too easy to destroy people for historical likes and posts that may no longer reflect that person's thinking. However, it's absolutely in the public interest to see what politicians are publicly liking. If someone running for office likes several posts along the lines of, say, "Hitler was right", it's the electorate's right to know that IMO. It's not like it's a private message.
Whether or not that specific example justifies the whole thing I don't know.

Wharton is a very progressive passer too. I've not seen that much of him, but from what I've seen I'd be willing to bet he's an England mainstay from the next World Cup onwards.

The back four are my concern. Folk have made a lot of a disappointing showing against Iceland, but I hate these friendlies immediately before a big tournament. The Icelanders were putting themselves about a bit considering it was meant to be a friendly, and that's understandable, but our lads looked like they were just trying to avoid getting crocked, or make the kind of catastrophic error that might see them slip from contention. We'll be a different beast in a meaningful game, I'm sure. As it is,  I've laid England at every major tournament for years now to offset the inevitable disappointment, but I won't be doing so this time around.

International tournament football is genuinely one of humanity's best inventions. So good, particularly if you're from a country that's in with a chance.
I feel less confident than I did before the last Euros and World Cup. A few too many little things like injuries, squad selection doubts, inexperience, lack of balance, etc, are playing on my mind to be uber confident. But we've still got a great chance.
Win well on Sunday and the excitement will be through the roof.

Me too. Can't feckin wait. I love tournament football and I for the first time in my life, I really feel we've as good a chance as any this time around. France the most likely winners IMO, but if our front 6 can click I really think we can beat anyone. A France Vs England final is the dream, with us edging a 5 goal thriller.

I have a vague memory of him telling Rowett he was going to the States at the end of the season, but that he was told to leave in January. There was definitely some other talk about how he was treated (not by Rowett I don't think) but I can't remember the specifics.

    Godzilla Minus One (Netflix).
A former kamikaze pilot spends the whole movie trying to make up for a moment of cowardice that cost many lives.
Never seen a Godzilla movie before, but this was a very human story that just happens to have Godzilla in it. Very good.

The club have been amazing with Reuben. Rammie came down to the Children’s Hospital to see him. Some of the players and staff have sent messages. It makes such a difference to his recovery.

Just an update for everyone as I have had a few messages from Derby fans on other platforms asking how he is.

Reuben is doing well and is now spending more time at home during the weekends. He is still an inpatient at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. His sounds are developing and we have had glimpses of ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’. He is starting to stand now but he is still a while from walking. His right arm is starting to get movement at the elbow but nothing at the wrist or hand yet…. So it’s all heading in the right direction.

Reuben is progressing really well and is now working on being able to stand and put his weight through that right leg before he moves on to trying to walk. A little bit more movement in the right elbow but nothing yet in the wrist and hand…..

Reuben’s rehabilitation continued this morning. Trying to get him to put weight through that right arm. He is far too clever for his own good though and decided to shuffle on his bum to make his life easier!

They tried to use it as mitigation, but it wasn't accepted by the committee in their hearing. They got 2 points back for admitting the breach (though they then tried to mitigate away their punishment with the Johnson factor) and cooperating with the investigation.

I might be getting this wrong, but wasn't the delayed sale of Brennan Johnson a mitigating factor in their point deduction? I imagine they'd be given some leniency again if clubs hold them to ransom this time. But still, hope they get taken to the cleaners.
