Well you could argue that it was Mel who gave him an over inflated contract at the time that we’re now not willing to match.

With such big earners in the squad at the time and Sibleys electric burst onto the scene the numbers probably seemed justified. Circumstances have vastly changed since and he was likely one of the highest earners at the club last season.

Not sure how accurate these figures are but I don't think they'll be too far off

You might be happy in the garden having a BBQ, meanwhile some of us will be out here camped out at local estate agents trying to ID incoming talent. WE NEED TO KNOW.

    I don’t do BBQs but I get your point!👍😅

We have snippets...like for the last weeks of the season Warney had told the recruitment team to focus entirely on Championship quality players. Also that nothing is likely to occur much before July.

Anyone getting tense should realise it'll be August before the squad is in place. Enjoy the Euros. Get on your holidays. Enjoy the garden.

I'm sure I saw an interview with him where he said this had been done in January! He's also said that he doesn't expect any movement until June at the earliest.Players on holiday, initial contacts made and under discussion, house moves to be considered ,salaries, tours of Moor Farm etc etc -,these things all take time.I can also remember 2/3 players saying they'd signed for us weeks before announcements were made and ,for me,keeping a tight lid on incomings is the best way.As you say, time to relax and stop fretting about league tables for a few weeks!

I know he’s not, I didn’t say he was out of contract. We could be in for a keeper and willing to pay a fee as we’re no longer under restrictions.

There have been a number of posters on here saying we’re signing (or at least interested in) Iversen, so I was just looking to clarify if this was likely more of the same rumour or something different.

To be honest we're all looking for clues as to the identity of possible signings and the rumours are starting to warm up! I've no idea as to the capabilities of Iversen or Jensen and, like you,I'm trusting the judgment of PW and the recruitment set up to bring in the necessary players to strengthen us for what promises to be a really tough League.Early days yet but it sounds as if PW outlined several targets in January as he anticipated our going up.

As in a ‘keeper currently playing their football in Denmark, or a ‘keeper of Danish heritage (which matches the other ITK rumours that we’re getting Daniel Iversen from Leicester)?

He's not out of contract until June 2025 but Lucas Jensen ,the GK of Lincoln is Danish

    You are a tough man!

Thought he was great before his injury. Our only proper senior 'club' man who can offer cover as full back/wing back and center half.

    Doubt he's breaking the bank.

    Happy for him.

Think he's a good character and shown real resilience to come back from his ACL injuries but I think League 1 was and is his level.Watching the wingers in the Championship this season ,I fear for us if he gets exposed .

Hourihane, Waghorn, Gayle, Loach, Wildsmith, Smith leaving.

Barkhuizen, Forsyth, Thompson triggered 12 month extensions.

Collins and Sibley still discussing new deals.

Robinson signed a new 2 year deal.

Hourihane 33  Waghorn 34  Gayle 34. Loach 36 in a few days .Smith 33 and Wildsmith 28.All have played some part in getting us up .Waghorn's goals at Peterborough-Gayle's in the run in and Wildsmith's save at home to Bolton and Smith's composure in midfield .
Hopefully, the average age will come down now and we have a clear idea of what's required and what wages are freed up.Happy to see Barks stay as a squad player but not so re Fozzy, as nice a chap as he is.

    GK
Replacement for Wildsmith IF he doesn't sign a new deal
Possible options: Chris Walton (Ipswich), Matt Ryan (AZ Alkmaar, Netherlands)

    Johansson from Rotherham ?

Cashin and Nelson to remain as starters. I think we'll stick with 3 at the back next season so would prefer a new starter in the middle of our defence - an upgrade on Bradley. Nyambe, Bradley, and Forsyth (assuming his contract is extended) acting as cover. Rooney loaned out.
Possible options: Cameron Burgess (Ipswich), Filip Helander (Odense, Denmark), Syb van Ottele (Heerenveen, Netherlands), Shawn Adewoye (Waalwijk, Netherlands), Hasan Kuruçay (Braunschweig, Germany)

Josh Knight-out of contract at Peterborough or Chris Forino of Wycombe?

    RWB
Ward and Wilson to have 6 months to prove they can step up and remain injury free. Review in January

    LWB
One of the tough decisions to make. We have Elder who had a horrid season with injuries, Sibley (if he extends his deal) who is still learning the role, and Forsyth (if he stays). Depending on budget, I would be looking at a new signing, but could leave it until January
Possible options: Sam McCallum (Norwich), Marc Nielsen (Hvidovre , Denmark)

    CM
With Adams, Smith and Bird leaving this summer, our end of season midfield 3 needs completely replacing. If Hourihane has triggered an extension and we keep Thompson, it means those two plus Fornah our our backup mids. I could see us loaning out one of those younger players and siging a 4th CM this summer
Possible options: Will Vaulks (Sheff Weds), Freddie Potts (West Ham), Joe Williams (Bristol City), Alan Browne (Preston), Ebou Adams (Cardiff), Connor Barron (Aberdeen), Herbie Kane (Barnsley), Deroy Duarte (Fortuna, Netherlands), Robin Fellhauer (Elversberg, Germany)

    W
If formations this season are anything to go by, we'll need players who can fit into a 3412 and a 3421. Logically, that means players who can play out wide. We already have Mendez-Laing and Blackett-Taylor under contract, with rumours of Barkhuizen triggering an extension. 1 new signing who can also play central will be needed.
Possible options: Chris Willock (QPR), Lazaros Lamprou (Excelsior, Netherlands)

    CF
John-Jules, Gayle and Waghorn out, with Collins hopefully signing a new deal and Brown being drafted into the first team. Two new CFs needed. I'm undecided if it would be best to offload Washington to free up some budget for other positions, or keep him as a fringe player.
Possible options: Harry Leonard (Blackburn), John McAtee (Luton), Sam Gallagher (Blackburn), Tyrese Campbell (Stoke), Sinan Karweina (Klagenfurt, Austria)

We're going to be linked with so many players this summer given the obvious holes in our squad and the fact that agents have traditionally used our names when touting their players around in the press.

Best to treat every rumour with a large pinch of salt unless interest is confirmed by Leigh Curtis or Dom Dietrich.

I should imagine they're in the dark as well.Warne keeps his cards close to his chest, quite rightly.

Looks a bit of a beast to say the least. Reminds me of Ebosele with the strength, big tackles, fast feet and mad pace

Love the commentators on this! Can we transfer them to Rams TV ?

Interesting to hear him say he's flying over to Denmark and Netherlands to watch some players, think we need to be a bit more dynamic next season to get results. Genuinely intrigued to see what kinds of players he signs.

    No,no idea either!

    Sounds like Nyambe is out for this one and an as yet unspecified further amount of time. With that bit of info I’d like to see a back 4 with Wilson at right back;

                    Wildsmith

    Wilson  Nelson  Cashin  Sibley

    NML   Adams   Bird  Barkz

            Waghorn    Gayle

That’s what I’d like to see, just go for it in an old fashioned 4-4-2 with Waghorn able to drop in as the “10” and Gayle playing on the shoulder. Wilson and Sibley offer balance and an attacking outlet at fullback, NML and Barkhuizen carry assist and goal threats.

I don’t think that’s what Warne will pick though, could see another 3 at the back or perhaps a 4-3-3

I know we're at home and should be on the front foot from the off but I'd want at least one of my full backs to be able to defend.Nyambe and Fozzy are big misses for us.

  13. Always good to get an experienced striker in,albeit one whose pace has lessened.Does he go straight in after 4 days of training ?( he meets the squad tomorrow) or do we use him as an impact player ? Looking forward to the debate regarding what formation most fans expect us to use to accommodate him.Pleased he's joined and hope he's got 5/6 goals in his locker, could be the difference between automatic promotion or the play offs 🙏

Yes, we had all of January to sign a striker and no doubt we tried for the entire month to secure a deal.

But it is not straightforward. Clearly we want players who will add something to the squad and we want someone who will improve us in some way. It’s not a case of taking absolutely anyone.

Better players are usually more difficult to sign, and clubs and even players will use whatever tactic they can to get the best deal and move possible. Moves you think are close often break down because of this.

If Collins is out for any length of time, it’s just really unfortunate.

You'll also have heard Warne say a striker was lined up with 4 hrs of the window left and all parties were ok with the move until his manager suddenly changed his mind.
