A recruitment team can only recommend a player. At some point they have to talk to the manager. So either Warne puts people off or the deal we offer is rubbish.

If it was the deal then why have the recruitment team looked at that player. A decent recruitment team would surely establish if the player was available and if they were within our budget.

I'd think that came under the remit of Clowes and Stephen Pearce

  2. I like Cashin, despite his shortcomings, and he's one of our Academy successes but anyone who thinks his value will ever be in excess of £10m needs a bit of a reality check. It's the same with Knight and Bird.We build them up,over inflate their potential sale price then moan when we sell them to someone we consider not good enough.

I’m surprised by people slagging off Cashin’s football ability. I actually thinks he’s technically excellent. Decent with both feet, very accurate passing into midfield and regularly pulls of long range passes

His touch is good, he rarely looks rushed. I really don’t see where that comes from.

    Whose ?

"if the Poznań sports club did not agree to a settlement convenient for the English club, it would face bankruptcy.
Derby County Football Club is an English club based in Derby. In 2020, Kamil Jóźwiak joined them from Lech Poznań. For the transfer of the footballer, the English were to pay in installments 4 million euros. It's just that due to financial problems, they began to fall behind with payments.

There was a court dispute between Lech and Derby County, which ended in a settlement this week.
The settlement assumes that we will renounce about 1/3 of the transfer amount, the rest has already been settled by the English and the case has been concluded in this way
    – informed Maciej Henszel, spokesman for KKS Lech Poznań in social media.

Lech's decision was very well received by English fans. In their opinion, if the Poznań club did not agree to an amicable settlement of the dispute over the transfer of Kamil Jóźwiak, Derby County would be banned

Take ya chances and shut the idiots up...simple as that really.

If he isn't taking his chances he will get a bit of stick.

If a pilot with 30 years experience with an impeccable record suddenly crashes 6 planes on the trot, do you reckon he might be in for some stick? Or will people let him off because he used to be good once? And don't want to tell him off as it might hurt his feelings.

    You say what you see.

Presumably he'd be sitting next to the black box to survive?!

If he goes to the States I do hope that he is informed or is aware that  pensioners (or anyone else that he confronts) will possibly be armed with a gun.  I didn’t really believe it until I went out there regularly, literally everyone and their dog seemed to have one…

Good points. I did suggest Lampard as a model specifically because I didn't see Lampard as the classic "box-to-box" midfielder and I don't see Bird as one either (unlike Gerrard, for example). It's probably still not a great comparison though - Bird maybe wants to find the quality through ball (rather than quantity of possible through balls), while Lampard was more athletic and had a good instinct for when to appear  in attacking positions and how to score goals (including from jammy potshots!)

Strange that! I'm usually in agreement with most of your comments and your positivity but if I was asked to name a typical box to box midfielder then Lampard would be one of the first I'd mention!

    Vive La Difference !👍

Absolutely right. That was abysmal. Wigan knew what to expect . They were ready and well drilled. We had no imagination ; everything was telegraphed; the midfield was pedestrian ; most crosses -in the first half especially -were over hit or poorly delivered ;  with the notable exception of about ten minutes after the equaliser, there was no meaningful attacking threat throughout the game . The inability/ reluctance to alter tactics was infuriating. I do not want to watch a season of that . It was like watching the definition of madness play out in front of me.
I fear that Mr Warne is a very limited tactician and I am unpersuaded by his media - friendly , platitude - spouting interviews. A season of tedious football beckons .

To save your sanity then it might be a good idea for you not to go again?

Oh okay, it's not like we needed him today or anything. Just feel it could have been decided sooner. But it seems lots of old strikers (inc CM before anyone says) seem to be playing poker with teams, holding out for what they can get. I guess that's what you get with old players on their last legs?

Last contract for him so he's bound to take his time.Funny how some fans expect players to act differently from us mere mortals when making decisions.

'Slight' being the operative word. If we see a plan, and we see progress, we should get behind it and enjoy the ride.

If David Clowes and his executive staff say we can't afford a player, that's that. Anyone who needs that explaining after the last few years needs to be placed in a long term residential institution, and sat by the sunny window.

    With her for company!😅

A sad end to a local man that did his best, Those that know are aware what a family member did when Lionel lost his money, DC will better take note, If/when DCFC get promoted he'd better sell as fans will expect something that DCs money can not buy...success.

Coventry splurged their EFL money on one player at £7.7million, Fans are impatient and if promoted will expect the same.

    Enjoy the game folks 👍

Mind you, they did get approx,£17m from the sale of Gyokeres

There’s a bit on the Sheffield Wednesday forum that we might have bid £350,000 for him - no idea if it has any merit

Seen this but not sure how accurate it is

He’s on the Bench for sheff Wednesday tonight, if there is something in this wouldn't surprise me if they are waiting for one in before letting him go.

Their new manager has made a few signings so far and sounds as if he wants his own players in,a bit like us really !
