all this RDR2 slander is making me angry. grr.

It sounds like you feel about RDR2 the way that many people do. It’s been designed for people who want to become engrossed in a story, role play as a cowboy who can make choices. 
 
All the side quests and activities that you say are pointless, other people adore them and enjoy doing them. People want to collect cards. We all have different hobbies.
You say that it’s pointless to do all those things, but that’s why people play games.
I'm only 10 hours into Red Dead and I found the intro hour boring, the next 9 hours have just got better and better. I spent about half an hour in camp listening to people interact and playing cards, it was great. And then was off hunting wild bears, a completely different activity but equally worth my time

Everyone should play 'The Outer Worlds' on whatever format they have. It's a seriously good game if you are in to RPG's.

That's fair enough. But he's been here almost a decade. Played hundreds of matches. Missed barley a minute. While he has been at the club how many players have simply collected their wages or were barely even trying to do their job. How many have missed large periods due to their own mistakes, purposely or accidentally. 
This whole situation couldn't have been handled any worse. 
My own personal opinion is that Keogh still wants to play for us. To see us make the Premier League. Before this whole fiasco, he looked like he could play at this level for another 5 years. I'm not writing him off. Davies has come back and looks better and fitter than he was before he first got injured. Should he take a pay-cut, I believe so. But the clubs approach has got to be more nuanced than this. 
 

I don't buy this kind of talk though. 
Maybe because when I was 24 or 25 I could walk on my own two feet and I didn't need or want excuses for my mistakes. Maybe that the reason I accept mistakes from people but not excuses. 
If poor little Tom and precious little Mason look to Keogh as some sort of guidance then they need to grow the duck up
I'm the same age as Keogh. I'm responsible for me and my daughters. I make mistakes and so do they. I accept consequences and I learn from them. Would i feck take a work colleague out and accept responsibility for him because he's 25. You can stick a piece of elastic on my arm every Saturday and still get the same answer
In this world everyone knows a dhead but nobody admits to being one. 
I'm capable of fecking up. So are you. Maybe people need to learn to say that more instead of looking to point the finger. 
Mason Bennett is a Dad isn't he? Do he need Keogh to come around and wipe his arse while he wipes his own child

I wouldn't accept a pay drop though either. I'd accept the same punishments as the drink drivers and I would consider myself being reasonable. 
Like I said, I get that he can't provide a service anymore and I get that the club are possibly within their rights to do what they have done. 
I dunno, I just have my principals and loyalty and I'm a proud person. I do what I thinks right whether it's legal or not, fair or not. I don't hold people to a higher standard than others. I don't think I'm better than anyone and I don't think anyone is better than me. For Keogh's service and position I'd have some leniency and I wouldn't dare utter words about representing the club and still let Lawrence and Bennett run around. I'd choke on my words. 
If I was Keogh I'd take the wage drop if I saw it as a punishment just under Lawrence and Bennett. I'd not really accept this fantasy role that I'm their father figure and somehow supposed to look after them in a pub. They drove the car!! I've been punished for getting in it because my leg is ruined. 
Derby's morals are a bit out of line with mine.
I thought they handled Lawrence and Bennett quite well. But this knocks the whole thing out of perspective 

I imagine this will do nothing for the team spirit. I imagine it will split the dressing room too. 
Long, long season now. 

1. We don't know what the club found in it's investigation. He may be more culpable than at first sight.
2. It seems like the club is slow as this has come out from the other end, wither Keogh or his agent may have spat the dummy over the offer and forced the issue.
3. I am sad. I wan't this to go away so I can remeber this Richard Keogh
 

Got to feel sorry for Cocu, the atmosphere at the club must stink at the moment and none of it is his doing.  Must wonder what he’s got himself into.

Ok is it’s easy for us all to be moral about this....but as several of you have said above, the other two were the ones that broke the law.  In some respects you could argue the club should be supporting Keogh.  Just imagine he was sober and it had happened.
Derby not coming out of this situation very well at all.  They’ve handled it very poorly imho.

For me, you either sack them all or retain all. The reduced wage offer is such a shady excuse

I would understand if the club had used that reasoning in the statement. However, they chose to focus on the morality of his actions, not his ability to do his job.
They’re either being thick or disingenuous. My money is on the latter.

Not quite sure how I feel about the decision yet, especially as things may have gone on that we don’t know about.
However, if this quote is genuine from the club, it makes a mockery of the fact that we’ve welcomed Lawrence and Bennett back into the fold, despite them being the only ones who put “themselves, their colleagues and members of the general public at risk of injury or worse”.

Yeah I have mixed feelings myself. 
Not sure I'd like to see him sacked tbh, but we are paying him a lot of money to sit on his backside.  Hopefully he'll sign reduced terms.

Its not a Marvel movie, there are no special effects, there's no Batman but what you do get is a simple, powerful, character driven story.  Excellent.
