  1. Mr In-between

Finished it and am gutted. No-one else seems to have watched it - but I will keep banging the drum!

As I've said before, its kinda similar to 'Barry'. But I prefer it. Is less glitzy and has less deliberate humour. Feels more real and I find it more impactful for it.

He's a bouncer and  low level assassin for hire, trying to navigate his way through life. No silliness with the violence,  he's a normal bloke who will do whatever it takes to get money to survive. Dialogue and the way its delivered feels very believable and there are lots of situations where you really are on his side, and you care about the other aspects of his life even though he does terrible things.

Indeed, it's very much a case of but for the grace of God.

Would you recommend The Pacific, assuming you've watched it? Oddly, I've never have, perhaps because it wasn't as feted as BoB, though now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it was the same team who filmed it.

I started the Pacific,  I really can't recall if I finished it.

I seem to feel it was 'fine'.

Bit like watching House of Dragon having watched Game of Thrones- seemed to do all the same things as Band of Brothers but without quite hitting the spot and left feeling emotionless for that....

I don’t want to get ahead of myself or allow myself to be excited, but.. I feel like something has finally clicked.

Best performance we’ve ever had under Warne, in my opinion. We’ve fell on to a workable system, the main reason was the recruitment staff doing their job and finding a gem in Ebou Adams and very recently I think it’s not in any small part to having to change the dynamic with Gayle upfront. I believe these two signings in particular have changed our fortunes, similarly to how Nyambe did earlier in the season.

Sibley and Ward are excelling. The defence are well balanced, the cohesion between the midfield and defence is significantly better, gaps aren’t as freely available for the other team and we are now working well going forward. I think we actually look like a team now, which for the majority of the season has definitely been missing something. The last two performances, the dynamic of the team, I’m finally hopeful.

Yesterday that was true....was exactly how I imagine Warne wants us to set up. We are strong, athletic, work hard, compete and have a bit of magic. With plenty to come in to add to the squad.

But we can't forget we have been bloody awful at times...

Not seen anywhere near enough of these types of performances for me to feel confident this is the new norm.

Two good performances this week and I'll start to dream again.

    How can you say that?

Zero shots on target, 4 shots with an XG under 0.1.

And this is against an awful opponent.

Were dogsh1t again as it stands.

Which players are playing genuinely well?

All 3 cbs, Sibley... Ward has been good aside from his crossing,  Adams has been solid,  Hourihane having a decent game. Just not firing up front.

  5. Really is a bit of a lottery trying to predict today's team.

Firstly- who's fit,  and who is worth risking. Niambe,  Forsyth,  Waghorn, Bird all are potential starters who may or may not be fit.

Then- what formation are we playing? 5 at the back I'm guessing...

Then is it an attacking set of wing backs or not? Do we play 3 up top or 2?

And finally who is out of form, better as an impact player..

    Guessing/wouid be happy with :

    Wildsmith

    Nelson Bradley Cashin

    Adams Smith

    Ward Sibley

    NML Gayle Barks

Ngannou has a tasty left hook and his feet move well when he's coming forward. Just that defence...

I'm still sticking by that I think Joshua can beat Usyk. I was fuming with both his performances. Don't me wrong, I'm not criticising Usyk as a fighter. But his size... Chisora roughed him a bit. He took a few shots off Joshua and Dubois where you think he's feeling the power off these guys. I just think there's an opportunity in the early rounds before fatigue sets in to get at Usyk. You have to take a few shots but I still think you can bully him.

We'll see, I guess. Fury is a nightmare for Usyk. If Usyk wins I might change my tune but I really think Fury will put it on him.

So, nothing gained really. Hearn will dine out on comparing the Fury/AJ matches but in a couple of months it will count for nothing.

Ngannou should find an opponent that won't punish him for the rookie errors. Build back up. There are huge fights out there for him.

The last knock down was terrifying.

Ngannou had virtually no defence and held his hands like a total amateur (debatable if that's what he is) and kinda just turned his head away when the punch came.

Weirdly, considering his background, he had no idea how to clinch,  lean,  grapple, spoil etc and run the clock down and take a breather, try to clear  his head.

AJ looked pleased but also a bit worried that he properly hurt someone who shouldn't have been in there.

Really looked dangerous and a lot of people wouid have been made to look really bad if he'd been hurt.

Tyson v Paul? Just an absolute freak show.

Someone is going to get seriously hurt soon.

  8. Slightly unsatisfying for me. Despite the positive noises from everyone there.

Zhang lumbered round and dropped him twice despite barely throwing a punch and never really letting his hands go.

Parker didn't really commit but won as he was busier.

Just tuned into the boxing expecting to catch the ring walk for AJ fight. I take it they’re running late as Parker/zhang about to start so that’s a bonus but I’ll probably fall asleep and miss the main event.

sounds like I’ve missed some great judging again

Just in time to see the most pathetic round of boxing ever then 🤣

Oh my God. There is no way you could have Vargas winning that fight comfortably as one judge did.

Let's be generous and give him the first 6 rounds. Find him a couple more.

He lost 6 in a row and two knock-downs. But a judge had him winning.

This sport really f**** me off.

100% agree. Ball was all over him like a rash.

Knocked him down and took everything he threw at him.

    Gutted for him. Joke.
