It's interesting that not one person has voted for mid-table mediocrity. As things currently stand, we're only 3 points ahead of 7th place Wycombe (albeit with a game in hand).

I guess it just goes to show what a good run of form can do for fans' optimism!

Play offs for me, I think the top 2 will be two from Ipswich, Plymouth and Shef Weds. Final finish for us 4/5th. Its a lot better than I thought at the start of the season.

I hate the play offs, its a Lottery

  2. Cheltenham a            3pts

    Bolton h                      1pts

    Port Vale a                  1pt

Plymouth   a                0 (we will lose at some point)

    Morcambe h               3pts

    Wycombe  a               3pts

This is exactly right. I can’t see any of the three players mentioned being here next season.

if it’s not Nelson then we have to be looking for replacements for next seasons squad whilst bringing in this window what we need now, which is certainly a Right Back and a replacement for Asula.

Of course we could wait for Summer but competition for players will be significantly increased.

    Cheers

Warne didn’t seem happy with the officials. No handshakes after the game.

Strange ref today, hard with the cards in the first half and then different in the second. Gave the penalty which was correct, ignored a few more Derby penalties and the constant holding by the opposition players

The red card was right but he should have given a penalty before that.

Also missed a penalty for them.

Easily conned and obviously didnt like Didzy as he gave him nothing all game.

Was at times covering every blade of grass mate and the only one in the centre of the park snapping into tackles. Common theme on this forum is downgrading of players who have left too. Just my opinion mind.

we did well last year with the energy of Knight and Shinnie in the middle

I slightly disagree on the basis of two things:

    1) I don't call it splurging - I call it strengthening the most important facet of the football club - the 1st team. A successful first team makes everything else in the club a lot easier to achieve. It's definitely not called doing a Mel Morris though and its spending within your means. If we have accrued additional income and beyond what is already in the budget and we are operating to the expenditure of the originaly budget, then year, we should be allowed to recruit and pay for that.

    2) We already have CAPEX in the budget and Clowes specifically said this is already underway. There was investment going into the stadium (I'm sure it was painted pre-season - correct me if I'm wrong?) and Clowes has specifically said they have a list of CAPEX investments they are undertaking.

I understand what CAPEX and OPEX are but many would not, I even know what double entry booking keeping is...but can we please not go into legal or accounting jargon

The clattering that Barkhuizen received in the LH corner of their penalty area in the first half was about a clear a penalty as I've seen so far this season. How the referee, positioned where he was, could have viewed it as a fair tackle is a mystery. Bolton player didn't even get the faintest touch on the ball, whilst Barks touch was light enough that, unimpeded, he would have got to the ball first.

Not sure if he would have got the ball, but is that what is needed for a penalty? I would have thought it was a foul with or without a ball that is in the penalty area. The pundits (Sky) yesterday said that the second wasn't a penalty on Collins because the ball had gone and the Bolton player could not help from connecting with Collin's ankle with his studs. Absolute rubbish it was a penalty as was the first one. Apparently Bolton had something similar, if it was then that should be a penalty as well.

  8. A draw was the right result, it was one of the better L1 games, but the problem with L1 games is that strikers need 3 or 4 chances to score, if they were better then they would be playing in a higher league. Both teams have good defences but neither took their chances.

I think the return fixture could be interesting, better weather and better pitch could suit us as we have lots of pace, but we know each other now.

First game over the Chrimbo fixture list, happy with a point, now lets win the next two, 7 points would be a good return.

    # loved Warne's response to the size of the crowd.

I couldn’t see another place to share the above so started a new thread, mods please move/merge if there’s a more appropriate and existing thread. Just thought it worth shouting about this nice little community touch from some of the coaching and playing staff, the pandemic and off the field situation seemed to deny so many feel good moments that it’s nice to see normality resume with this sort of thing. Well done ? ?

Love it, thank you for sharing it. Where I live in Woodley (Berks) all of the bikers get together and deliver presents to the hospitals and hospices, there are over a thousand of them and thousands of us get on the streets to clap them. This is what Christmas is for
