I agree we'd be up against it, but we got Bradley and Hourihane when they must have had offers at a higher level. The "buy-in" is around spearheading a promotion charge and thereby being at a big club in the Championship after one year with some momentum behind you.

Oh I get that. The biggest issue for me will be what fee they demand.

Coventry medical for Wright completed, according to Sky.

Will be interesting to see if Godden is on his way... and to where...

I honestly cant see him coming here as

    a) There will be clubs in the Championship interested

    b) Cov will most likely demand a decent fee

    c) He will want a large wage which may break our wage structure?

I was just thinking along those lines.
Collins should get more than last season's 12, Washington is a 1-in-4 scorer at this level so should get something similar. Rhodes has played the last 13 seasons in the Championship (inc. one part-season in the Prem), and he knows how to score a few.

The team were too reliant on McGoldrick to do something last season, and I remember him missing last-minute six-yard headers in at least 2 games in last season's run-in. Hat-tricks against weaker teams were fun to watch but not necessarily decisive.

Fingers crossed we also get a Dobbin-standard loanee who can actually finish! A less wasteful player could have had 10 league goals last season from the chances he had.

    Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

11 of McGoldrick`s goals came in 4 games. That`s not to underestimate his exploits, but for all his goals, they didn`t actually win us that many points. Plus, I felt, that in the last 3 or 4 months of the season we became too much of a one man team. Our entre system of play had to revolve around him. This, in turn, made us quite easy to play against.

We need more variety this season and the signings so far suggest that we will get it.

No. They will still get a 12 point deduction if they go into administration but whether the deduction takes place this season or the next depends on where they finish in the league. I guess to stop clubs knowing they are already relegated so they think they may as well take the points deduction this season.

Its exactly that. Leeds set the precedent some years ago when after being already relegated they announced Admin on the morning of the last match of the season (against us)

A number of individuals who were trusted to the club nearly killed us. We were treated unfairly by them. As mich as we can blame the EFL, we knew the rules of coming out of administration and we are still under those restrictions. Personally, I think that is fair and I would much rather be here not being able to spend fees, than having no club to watch

I agree with your sentiments, but it will only become fair if/when another club goes into administration, they are met with the same severity as we were.

Wigan for instance, were allowed to pay fees after a few months.

They aren’t forcing anyone to join.

If you don’t want guitar lessons then don’t have guitar lessons.

Correct, it isn`t a guitar lesson, its a group who claim to have the best interests of DCFC at heart, which in itself is fine, and something that I`m sure 99%-100% of DCFC supporters want. However, it seems, that unless you agree completely with their mantra, and have a certain political viewpoint, you wont be welcome.

This surely is bordering on authoritarian and discriminatory?

Up to them obviously if they want to make it like that, but equally they cant complain when sections of supporters criticise?

6526 seats left. A South Stand Upper/Lower Block and one block in the West not for sale.

Usual 2500 seats also never available (from a league game - Not sure how the separation eliminates so many!) - So I reckon we're something like:

    Derby Tickets Purchased - 21,000

    West Ham Fans - 5,400

So by Monday - maybe we can get 27k for this game realistically? Maybe Tuesday may have given a nudge to some people.

I hope so. The players deserve a sell out, but I just think that some fans don`t see the FA Cup as being important anymore, which is such a shame.

Who voted in this new election?

How come someone is co-opted as second in command and not from the existing board?

Is being a member of the Labour Party an un-written pre-requisite of joining RT, as they seem to be Labour councillors, Labour election candidates etc?

It certainly seems to be doesn`t it?

I dare say that you would get the standard soundbyte reply of "All are welcome to apply to the board" but in reality as the history of RT suggests, unless your face fits and you vote a certain way, you don`t stand a chance.

Its a closed shop, or at least that`s how it seems. I`m sure that they preach diversity and agree with it, so why appoint people to the board with different politcal perspectives? After all, this should be about DCFC not politics?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard anything about Uncle Mel?

How is his health? Is he still active in (other) business? Is he in exile?

All said and done, his cleverness backfired, but he certainly isn't in my opinion a bad human.

I agree to a certain degree. He tried and failed, and its far better to try and fail, than to not try at all. His issue was that he made managerial mistakes, be it sacking managers too early or appointing the wrong ones in the 1st place. What he cant be accused of is not backing any of the managers.

There a quite a lot of parallels right now between Moshiri at Everton and DCFC. He too has spent a truckload of money, but his managerial appointments have been a disaster and Everton are now much worse off.

I think it would have sold out if we had played Saturday, but it is a bit of a ball ache for those of us out of the county to get to after work on a Monday night. Nevertheless I will be there and I still think we will get a decent crowd of 25k plus. Should still be a good atmosphere.  What have we sold so far 22k?

There are still over 7000 tickets available for this.

Hopefully as its payday for a lot of people on Friday and Jan has been a long month lots of fans will buy tickets over the weekend as anything less than close to capacity for this is a bit disappointing imo.

The "Its on TV" argument doesn`t really wash with me either unless you live miles away. It certainly hasn` put W Ham fans off making a 300 mile round trip on a Monday as they have sold out of their 4500 allocation

  11. Someone on twitter was saying that he went to the ticket office and a W Ham fan was buying a ticket for the Derby end and he was being quite open about it.

Clearly Monday nights don`t affect W Ham fans attending!?

Any Director has legal responsibilities. He is not just like an ordinary employee.

having said that I don’t think Derby did break any rules and it was as much the EFL’s fault as anyone else apart from Mel.

All correct of course, but we/he didnt break any laws of the country or accounts laws so he didnt do anything illegal from that perspective.

All we were found guilty of (eventually and under pressure from Gibson and Couhig) was breaking a minor efl rule.

He was a Director, and a professional accountant. It was his job to stand up to anything that’s wrong.

He was a non shareholding Director and ultimately simply a paid employee like everyone else at the club, with a family to support. He has the ear of Mel, but had zero power to make decisions.

His only course of action to remove himself would be to resign, but that would mean no income at a time when the world was suffering from the effects of the pandemic and not many companies were hiring. How many people could simply walk out on a well paid job?

Hopefully, he has learnt lessons? By all accounts he is very good at his job and well thought of in the footballing world so maybe he is trying hard to redeem himself by helping make DCFC a stable and successful club once more?
