  1. If we can only sign players for 6 months and they prove to be not much use then this could be an advantage to us. If they cannot do it in their first six months playing for s further contract then hey ho. How many previous signings would we have sent back after six months if that had been possible.

But a lot of that money will be tied up and not readily accessible. He may only (??) £2m available as free cash.

Who has the amount of money needed to run a Club like Derby for a year readily available not earning interest of some sort.

Someone suggested yesterday Mel needs to prove he could fund the club for 12 months (in case the potential takeovers/investment falls through). If he does that the players can be registered.

EFL know that Mel has about £500 million so it is more a case of, if he will fund rather than he could fund in reality.

The bit about being the 8th best academy... I believe this is based on the number of players in the England youth setup (U16-21). In 2020 we were 9th.

    =1. Chelsea (23)

    =1. Man City (23)

    3. Arsenal (17)

    4. Tottenham (14)

    5. Liverpool (13)

    =6. Man United (12)

    =6. West Ham (12)

    8. Reading (7)

    9. Derby (6)

I also believe this wouldn't include players we have sold such as Delap, Gordon, the trio to Man Utd, etc...

    Very good result for us.

I’ve spoken to David, he’s done his report, sent it to the club to check it’s ok with them.

The clubs not managed to get it signed off yet. One can only assume that they have other pressing matters, players contracts etc if you read what Mr Nixon has said.

I’m assured that there is some further detail to what’s already been released by the Punjabi Rams and Jim Wheeler on Radio Derby.

I was worried that everyone was waiting with baited breath only for the exact info to be in David’s report that was already out there anyway.

Please try and see it from his side, he’s piggy in the middle, and wants to make sure everything is ok with what’s in his report.

As far as I’m aware, due to David having to leave just before the end to catch the last train he missed an agreement to let Jim Wheeler do a piece to RD this morning.

But, that’s not what we go to the charter meetings for. We go to ask questions and to report to our members, not be a face to a joint statement.

David never put our name to a recent open letter to the club, and will never do so.

So please be patient, the timescale is out his hands, and he’s getting grief left right and centre on Social Media. In my opinion non of the other groups who were there are.  But that comes with us being the biggest group of Derby County supporters on the internet.

He’s losing his hair, what he has got doesn’t want turning grey.

What a sensible forum leader we have. Well done David.

  6. If successive managers do not build on their predecessors work then it costs a lot of money to keep changing plan. Rowett has taken a few of our players to Millwall and they look capable of contributing to a top half finish. Rowett keeps it simple and does a good job. If we do not like his style then we simply sign a different kind of manager. This cause of action may or may not lead to an obvious improvement. Eventually you run out of available cash if you keep starting from more or less scratch. When a player moves to your club he may play better or worse than at his previous club, so you need to sign players that can play in the same way and fit into your club, otherwise it becomes untenable sooner or later. If players can come through the ranks this can save a lot of money but once again they need to be allowed to play their natural game.

The season starts this weekend, and it's looking very likely that we may not have a choice but to throw some players in at the deep end, ready or not.

Even if we sign the players we want to sign, there is still going to be very little depth and the younger lads are going to have to contribute positively sooner or later if we hope to stay up.

So, even if we do somehow manage to sign 9 or 10 trialists, which young player do you think will emerge as the next regular for Derby?

In past few seasons we've had seasons where one player has come from the academy, played more than first expected and stood out more than other's in their first real season.

Jayden Bogle under Lampard, Jason Knight in Cocu's first season, and then Lee Buchanan last season.

There's quite a lot more possibilities this time round. Jack Stretton, Eiran Cashin, Festy Ebosele, Dylan Williams, Liam Thompson... someone's going to need to step up.

    Festy for me.

No expert on drama admittedly but in what way does adding ‘just saying’ to a post add dramatic tension?  It seems to do the exact opposite.

Because there always seems to be a hidden reason why they say the phrase suggesting an interesting sub plot. This would potentially mean a twist in the story if pursued. I hope that sounds plausible, otherwise forget that I raised the point.
