  1. I think Ed gets a lot of unfair stick from some quarters. Some of it quite vitriolic. And there’s no doubt he cares about this club. I quite enjoy his match commentaries. I also enjoyed Dom’s commentaries as well.

Having listened back to the podcasts of the coverage on Saturday for me it was excellent from the whole team. Just what I like to hear from our local station. And they need to get Malcolm Christie on as a regular as well.

  2. I don’t contribute much to this forum but read it daily and know all of the characters on here and B4 was one who always shone through.

I’m so sorry to learn of this news. His positivity about our beloved Rams never, ever waned. Even if the rest of us sometimes wondered why we bothered B4 would always remind us why we do. He will be missed in here.

Sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.

    RIP B4.

Warne dennies interest in championship club Huddersfield job, so why would he be interested in Derby, given our current position, in League one.

The press, have selected a target, given that they have heard a rumour that lr, has been removed from his management duties at Derby.

I've previously gone on record saying that I didn't think that lr was the right man for the job, but he surprised me by winning the last game and he did so by doing something that I wanted him to do. He changed tactics during the game and he won that game.

A great manager in my opinion, is an adaptable one, who learns from his mistakes.

Half way through the summer we didn't have a team that would qualify to play in the league, 10+ players later and given no transfer budget, we are in a different position.

It takes time for thar many players to work together well as a team, and yet through lr leadership, they have.

I believe that under lr's management, we would win the next two games, taking us back in to the higher end of the play off positions.

I see us finishing the season in the play off positions.

Sheffield wednesday, Ipswich and Portsmouth remain the 3 clubs in my opinion who are most likely to be in the automatic promotion places.

We are not guaranteed to sign a better manager than lr.

I think that lr will only get better with time.

If a better manager was ready to sign a contract at the club, then maybe, but who is that better manager.

If lr has a better offer from another club, then that's different again, and I'd call the club foolish for not offering the perm role to lr sooner.

I think that lr should be the manager on a perm basis, given his current form. I would however, like to see him given an experienced older experienced manager as a deputy, to help guide him.

Or you could just appoint someone who actually has that experience. Just a thought.

Why does anyone waste their time looking on the Bristol City forum?!

Bristol City are nondescript enough, never mind a bloody Bristol City forum.

Out of pure curiosity I had a snoop on there earlier. What a bunch of absolute pipes. Surely there must be some medication available?

Its a surreal feeling isnt it.

ill be honest i thought i was dealing with it ok. Just doing what i normally do with bad news and burying it deep down and just worrying about other life thingd, kids, work, money etc etc

but last night and even more so this morning, i just feel like this massive weight has been lifted and something that brings me so much pleasure and is part of my life is back in my thoughts again and iv this warm buzzy feeling about getting down to pp with my daughter and roaring the lads on.

I didnt even realise it was effecting me. But now its ended i can cealrly feel it was

This. Exactly this. I haven’t commented at all on this but have been reading this thread every day since it started. I know the trials and tribulations we’ve been through and how this has affected us.

like NottsRam77 I thought I’d been dealing with it okay. Carrying on the day to day and all that. But hadn’t realized the extent it had actually affected me….until last night.

As the news broke the sense of relief was unbelievable for sure, but suddenly I found my eyes welling with tears. Genuine tears. Then hearing Ed Dawes on RD also in tears - live on air - it sent me completely over the edge into floods of them.

Once I’d composed myself I allowed myself a quiet glass or two and raised a toast to David Clowes and our great club.

So the great re-set has begun and with it a recalibration of our expectations. At this point I’m just happy to still have a club. And for it to be run properly. This whole episode has been a truly humbling experience for us all and one I do not wish to live through again. And one I wouldn’t wish on any fans of other clubs, in spite of some of the disgraceful attitudes from ‘followers’ of other clubs.

So if we find ourselves in a situation where we are losing 3-0 at home to a team like Forest Green Rovers on a miserable rainy Tuesday night, I’m going to give my arm a pinch and remember that things could have been very different and we may not have actually been able to witness it. And then hold on to the hope that better days will return.

Because make no mistake - those better days will come.

    UTR ????

He never got given the chance to sustain it long term. He got no time the 2nd spell, and the 1st spell as soon as our form fell due to injuries, he got booted. He'd have turned it around on both occasions if Mel had afforded him the same patience he afforded Cocu.

Well. Maybe you’re right, maybe you’re wrong. The fact is neither you, I or anyone else will ever know. For what it’s worth I didn’t agree with him being sacked on either occasion. He should have been given at least another season.

During 2014/15 season it’s fair to say injuries to both Eustace and then Mascarell in the midfield holding role then later on Martin didn’t help. But he still had a squad of players more than capable of making the play-off’s -especially from the position we were in prior to Fulham away. But just two wins from the final eight games suggests that if he had a plan B it didn’t work.

McClaren’s record it is somewhat chequered and littered with similar fall-offs. So he’s not for me this time around.

People say ''time to move on'' all the time about Martin and McClaren, but the reason people haven't moved on is simple. We've never brought in a manager that has close to achieved what Mac did, and we've never signed a striker half as competent as Martin in the time he's been here. When we do that, people will move on.

Fair point. It took a lot out our fans about twenty years to finally get Cloughie out of their systems. And I accept the first 12 months under McClaren were a hell of a ride. But he doesn’t seem able to sustain it long term. So surely we can’t keep hanging our hats on the McClaren fallback plan every time we find ourselves in this situation.

If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.

    He had a plan B.

He just didn't play 5 different formations per match with 3 different styles using 25 players per month. Nobody successful compromises their philosophy. They adapt. And we did.

Injuries are what tested Mac's depth. Injuries to key positions he then tried to fill with inadequate replacements.

Agree up to a point. But the rot started to set in before a lot of the injuries took hold. A lot of teams sussed us out he didn’t seem able to arrest the decline. In that 2014 season we still had a squad good enough to make the playoffs. Also we’ll never know how much of a distraction the Newcastle thing was.

Same happened in his second spell albeit to a lesser extent and couldn’t really blame injuries for that one.

So it’s still a no from me.
