Could have got Ollie Watkins from Exeter for £3.5 mill in the same window , but Mel said it was a rip-off. Beilik will be on nearly the £35 k a week we were giving him as he was a transfer market FREEBIE .

The Ollie Watkins truth from the Beeb website today.

His form led to interest from Brentford - with Smith having moved to the Bees - and Derby.

"We were offered a lot of money by Derby in January (2017)," said Tisdale. "The Derby model was the opposite of what Ollie needed, a lot of process, passing and possession. I could have seen Ollie grinding to a halt.

"They didn't undervalue him, it was the kind of money we'd have accepted, but we turned it down

Watkins went to Brentford for £1.8m in July, it was Steve Mac that wanted Ollie but he got the sack in March. Replaced by Gary Rowett, the deal was still on the cards but Rowett thought the price was too much. The approach by McClaren was made in the January, I had a workmate who's step-son was with Exeter City at the time and was big buddies with Ollie. The phone call to Ollie happened in the step-son's car when Ollie was sat in the back getting a lift back to Newton Abbot where he lived after playing for Exeter on that Saturday.

Back in 2017 I told of this incident on here and quite a few other members poo pooed it at the time. The step-son was 2nd choice left back with Exeter at the time and never made it with the club and now plays non league football.

Isn't that the case of every transfer rumour account on Twitter?  This is why i hate the post-season.  Roll on the Euro's simply so we have a distraction.

The Euro's start on June 14th, the same day teams can sign players on !!!!! There will be no distraction ?

That’s right , they have to sell another £50 mill player before the end of June . However , having an owner with unlimited funds they can spend £100 mill after July and get away with it , similar to Newcastle . Man C are the biggest P takers . All their trophies should be put in the Bin .

    That's a quote from Brian

  4. I think there will be a lot of deals struck during the Euros and probably a few more after the final on the 14th July. I do believe there is some players that have already been approached by Warne and his staff and barring paperwork being signed they have more or less agreed to join the Rams. That of course can change with other clubs making approaches and offering better deals. I'm putting my money on at least one or two coming from abroad (Warne & his staff hopefully did'nt make the journey to come back empty handed).

Another strong bet, is Ben Osbourn joining the Rams this summer. Would suit Warne's set up being a defensive midfielder or a wingback who can cross a ball.

I agree. He developed but the team moved on a division. It’s a bit like The Chase, he will catch up fairly quickly but possibly not next season. Remember Studger was bang average, went on loan to Torquay and came back a totally different player.

Bit too soon to write him off yet, give him a preseason with Warne and his team and then decide, may already have come back as a totally different player after his Gateshead experience 🤷‍♂️

I recall an interview with Warne talking about Dajaune when he first went out on loan to Gateshead. He stated that; he will send staff to have him watched and maybe next season loan him out to a League Two club. I wonder now if that will happen, having made 22 appearances for Gateshead and scoring 10 goals and that record is even more remarkable when you consider is early appearances for that team were coming off the bench late in the 2nd half. He joined Gateshead on the 23rd January came off the bench in the 77th minute against Barnet (27th Jan) and continued to be a sub until the 9th March when he actually started a match. On top of his goal scoring he created goals for other players.

That seems like a more likely scenario that moving to Plymouth but, does Cashin really “dreams of playing under Nuno Espírito Santo”? 😂

Forest can't afford to buy, they've already been done for overspending (4pts deducted).

PW with Rotherham in the SBC.

1st time, relegated playing crap football

    2nd time, same again

3rd time he had put together a better side playing decent football (source Rotherham forums at the time we poached him). He had them 8th after 9 games. All the sides above then had played 10. Win that game in hand and they would have gone 5th. He came to us and Rotherham ended up 19th. Just maybe, the 1st 2 seasons were more down to RUFC's inability to attract the right players? Both the results and the style were better 3rd time around...

IMO, forget anything he did at Rotherham. Derby is a totally different kettle of fish. Let's see what he can put together over the summer.

Agree, a talented youngster or a seasoned pro looking for a new club and the choice is Swansea/Plymouth or Derby it's a no brainer. Rotherham are never going to attract the better quality player when competing against better equipped/bigger clubs in the same league.

  8. Good end of season celebrations for some East Midlands teams, Chesterfield= Champs and back in League two. Mansfield= Promoted to League one. Leicester City= Promoted to top flight and could be going up as champions. Alfreton Town in the playoffs in Vanarama North.  Shame about the Red Dogs; Points deducted, moaning about a Ref who supports a rival team and they could get relegated and have to compete in the Championship.

I'd expect Simpson to say exactly that, He's been in football a loooong time to know what to say when down with the dead men...but, Players are the ones who count, It's on the day, It's what frame of mind you're in, How many will be playing for their livelihood, How many expect to be moved on, Who is in the Simpson camp and who isn't...and most of all...who can be arsed?

They're down and relegated for a reason...they're not very good, If our players turn up and I expect every Derby player to do his duty 😊 then all will be fine.

Also I expect to be staggering home sometime on Saturday evening from visiting and talking to lots of like minded Derby fans in our boozers.

Steady there Alf, you drink too much and you won't remember the result.

Was going to say Carlisle fans might not like him milking it, but I expect they'll buy into the party atmosphere. Unless they've turned on him this season - anyone know?

Unless it`s a team we have bad history with, then seeing them get promoted, even during such an awful season for us, is
something I`d be happy for them if it happened. Derby have been down in L1 a while now, and if they go up, they`ll have
earnt it, and their fans will be ecstatic after the match.

Which means they`re less likely to want to beat any of us up, and any of ours who are in Derby afterwards, would probably
have a great time enjoying the celebrations with them, into the night, and might not even have to pay for drinks !

I like this side of football, when 2 sets of fans can come together, and just enjoy the game, and those special moments.

    Exactly!
I really can't understand why people feel bitterness towards another club simply because they've done well and have got promoted?
I met a few Derby fans in 'Spoons' before our home clash with them earlier this season, and they were as sound as a pound, even taking the 'Mickey' out of a mate of mine because he is Scottish (nowt wrong with that, is there ??)
If we had some sort of rivalry with them then fair enough, but ............'DERBY COUNTY!!!!!!!!', they couldn't even beat us when they won the 1st Div (Premier League) title all those years ago.
Anyway, we're stopping in Derby over the weekend, so looking forward to sinking a few pints with them afterwards.

  11. I watched the Portsmouth v Barnsley game on I-Follow last week, Pompey won 3-2 coming from behind. I thought that Barnsley were the better team and Portsmouth's 83rd minute penalty was a dodgy call. That was their 13th penalty scored this season, only Wycombe can match that amount of luck with officials dishing out spot kicks.

If and it's not a big if, the game was drawn or even won by Barnsley the title would still be on for Derby. I look at last season with Plymouth grinding out results when being outplayed and Ipswich grabbing 2nd spot with ease. I feel, even though Pompey are champs, they are not the best equipped side for the Championship next season. Could we get a similar situation next season with Ipswich flying high and Plymouth struggling this season. Could Derby do well next season and Portsmouth struggle ?

  12. Dear Paul Simpson, hope you are reading this blog and still have some love for Derby County (the team you made most appearances during your 679 playing career total). Please do not turn up at Pride Park with the intention of ruining the party. Play your fringe players and youngsters, get them ready for next season in League Two.

Afterwards (providing Carlisle do not win) go and milk the applause from the Derby Fans, whom a lot of them will remember you playing for the Rams in the Artur Cox/Roy McFarland/Jim Smith times.

Oh no!! I’ve just considered the world’s most squeaky bum scenario.

peterboro win their game in hand. Then Bolton and boro both win their next game and we lose to Cambridge

then we’re all the same points going into the last game of the season. With them playing each other.

the twists and turns during 90 mins of that last day will be ridiculous. I’d still expect us to beat Carlisle, but still, there will probably be a moment before we take the lead when either boro or Bolton score, and we’ll be technically out of the autos for a moment. Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth in here during those moments!?

Have you been drinking, even if we did lose to Cambridge, there's no way Paul Simpson would let his Carlisle side win at Pride Park.

Getting in box more often. People often credit a lack of penalties with bad refs and any other excuse, but it normally tends to be the simple fact that if you get in the box more often, you get fouled in the box more often.

To be fair, we’ve scored more goals than anyone else. So we’ve probably got in the box often enough, we’ve just been more effective at tucking the chance away more often, rather than waiting to be fouled.

You need to look at the League One table again, us and Pompey are the lowest goal scorers in the top 6 teams and when you consider Pompey have had a whopping 13 penalties including tonight's which having watched was another dodgy decision.
