Why are loads of people moaning if the club doesn’t go up this season. After coming out of admin in middle of July with 5 players and throwing pensioners and loans into a squad in 2 weeks we are lucky to be where we are. Other teams in this league have had 2 to 3 seasons spending money to equip there teams. To be in with a shout in the first season is incredible to be fair.

also if we were to go up with the business plan expect us to struggle big time and watch a dog fight every game and is trying to survive. Does everyone really want to watch that again. Get a good summer window with restrictions eased to buy players for low fees for example have a tight good crack next season and go up as champions and then add to the squad then with no business plan is where I would rather see if I’m completely honest.

also the debate on rosenior and warne that I keep seeing on here still to this day. Warne has 3 promotions when having his own squad and choices in which rosenior had never managed. We were 9 games in when we changed which isn’t even a third of the season l. Players still fresh and we were 7th. I’m sorry but if anyone thinks when we got to the Christmas period and february and March with rosenior in charge that we would be in 7th is living in cuckoo land in my opinion. I think we would be 10th the 12th in all seriousness and if anyone disagrees then fair enough.

clear to see the players are knackered and have ran out of steam which I think will be addressed in the summer with more players in prime years between 22 and 27. Evident to see as now I doubt we would see a same scenario of the port vale game where we were still going later on in the game or against Bolton where hourihane was still breaking into the box from our own box on the 82nd minute just isn’t going to happen now.

id just enjoy seeing a full 90 minutes of play than 45 minutes of great play and then a second 45 minutes of knackered oap’s.

for those not happy with warne now wait till we actually get promoted hopefully soon and look at his championship record this forum will be a sight to see. Maybe with extra money he can do a job

Last time I checked, the season ended in May so it's a tad premature for a start. Secondly, I'd expect Warne to get a second season where he has a larger squad and a few more players that suit his style. If folk really need to criticise the owner, they might have the respect to actually wait to see how his plans play out rather than diving in at the first opportunity for a moan.

I didn’t want LR to go but that doesn’t mean I was against the PW appointment.  It was quite telling that LR was only ever interim manager but reading the interview with DC in the Marketing Derby magazine it was clear he wanted something different.
This will be unpopular but sometimes you have to move slower to move quicker.  It’s always going to be difficult while we can’t pay fees, even loan fees.  PW needs at least 1 summer window.  While we can choose from a better selection of free agents, and we can probably pay a bit more in wages than other L1 clubs, it’s still difficult to get players in their prime, which is what we need.  As we’re getting “free” loans we’re probably not getting the best loans available to L1 teams.  The likes of Dobbin, Springett, etc get criticism but their parent clubs have let them go on loan to L1 for no fee and whilst probably paying a fair chunk of their wages.  Other clubs in this league don’t have these challenges, particularly the first one, and will therefore attract better loans.
The actions of one man have set this club back at least 5 - 10 years.  Prior to him we were a sustainable club, with a good squad, a good management structure, a good scouting network and an academy that was beginning to produce.  This isn’t meant to be an “I’m so glad we have a club” post but effect of administration is a reality and the effects are wide ranging and long lasting.  PW didn’t walk into the club like any other manager at any other club.  All the key roles needed to be filled, a scouting network rebuilt and moral rebuilding.  The academy was completely decimated to extent that the age groups have had to bolstered with loan signings.  We really had next to nothing.  We’ve had too much change at too much cost.  Let’s give PW the time to build the club over a long period of time.

I don't think 'pull' exists other than $$$$. History shows us that Tomori, Mount, etc cost absolute fortunes to get in so I really don't think there is such a thing as 'pull' per se. I think that in a scenario where a player choses club X or club Y the style of play, manager personality, club size, etc all comes into play so when we hear Mount saying that Frank was the reason, etc then yeah - that reason + £2m loan fee or whatever it was!
PW is clearly a players-manager whereas some managers (E.G. Rafa) are very much about systems, etc so will clearly attract certain types of players. I'd argue the types (honest, hard working) of players that PW would attract are the types that we need for the next few seasons - i.e. I'd rather we didn't sign trouble-makers/those that only sign for the money, etc for the long term benefit of the club.
Personally I think we're in good hands and what we're seeing now is the financial restrictions really biting. However, I will caveat that with the fact that there are players in the squad with some pedigree who don't appear to be playing to their previous levels (Collins, Hourihane, etc) but again, perhaps there's a reason why they're here in L1 on relatively low wages...

Jesus reading that has floored me.
Choked up again. Brought back all those memories of sitting in my car on the drive crying after the deal had been announced and we’d been saved. Pure relief.

I get your point, but then that gets into the argument about it is what you are achieving in the present which matters & not basking in past glories. The divisions are littered with clubs with illustrious histories.
It is frustrating to be where we are, but at least Derby under Mr Clowes have put a brake on things so that we didn't end up like Coventry, Bolton & Portsmouth in L2.
There are plenty of so called 'lesser' sides who have outstripped us in terms of achievement, from the likes of Swansea winning a trophy (EFL Cup) to Wigan (FA Cup), both also having a sustained spell in the PL.
I think we've got to start justifying this so-called 'top billing' by acting like a professionally well-run club. Tempering expectations also means offering the club owner etc some patience and latitude to make mistakes as well as the time to put in the right infrastructure. Patience was in supply at the likes of Brentford & Swansea.
We've have 30 years of relative disappointment & underachievement, so what's another ten to get it right?
Of course, I expect to be dead by the time we achieve it but you can't have everything.

To think we were 7 days from going under makes me shudder....and now some fans are moaning that we are "only" 5th in league 1 after having 5 players in July.
I'm so grateful we have a club at all, let alone a competitive one in safe hands for once.
    Thank you again Mr Clowes

ImARam2 reacted to Tamworthram in Season Ticket Renewals 2023-24
It’s not a normal season because we’re subject to an agreed two year business plan. I know we’re all speculating but maybe the restrictions within that business plan are subject to review during the summer. Maybe any potential variation is dependent upon what league we’re playing in. Maybe this year, unlike previous years, because of that business plan and any potential variation the club are waiting to see what division we’ll be playing in before setting prices.
The simple fact is that none of us know the reason for the delay but we all probably have our own favourite theories. At the end of the day though, whilst frustrating (because we all want to know everything and we want to know now) as @ilkleyram is saying - it doesn’t really matter to us supporters. We know we’ve got a club and we know season tickets will go on sale eventually. It might just mean we’ll only have three months in which to renew (and possibly no early bird offer) rather than the usual six months.

I have just read the full article and if the Derby fans cannot appreciate what David Clowes has done, not only saving the club from oblivion but to restore the club's reputation with the EFL and other club's, then they don't deserve to be called Derby County supporters.
His integrity, passion, honesty and optimism for the club is unbounded and we should all thank him and his management team for saving the club.
To be within a matter of days, if not hours, of the club going out of existence, and to put together a business plan; a management team with the same attributes and inspirations, along with a set of young and aging players to compete for the play-off places, is nothing short of a miracle.
If we don't get promotion this season, the future of Derby County F.C. is in very safe hands and if, as David Clowes mentions, it might take 5 years, so be it, we have a club and team to support.

As a fan, I'm impatient to have success but it's an enlightening interview such as the section where Mr Clowes actually states that he's been surprised by the success Warne has had so far. Now the interview may have been conducted before the excellent run came to an end with 3L on the road, but it does seem to indicate that the new owner expected us to mount a real challenge next season & has realistic expectations.
He also mentions about getting us back in the Champ'ship & established in five seasons, so hopefully promotion within two, maybe three seasons and then consolidating perhaps like Coventry, Sunderland & Sheff United as relatively big sides who have fallen down the divisions or been blighted by mismanagement (Coventry in particular).
I think we can use the likes of Brentford as a model. I worked in Hounslow twenty years ago when Bees United (ABeeC), I think, actually won a seat on the local council & were a club whose future was under threat & ended up putting pressure on the local council to become more supportive at a time when the club occupied a very low profile. There's been steady progress but especially in the last decade when you think how they missed out promotion on the final day to Doncaster (2012-13). A decade where they have been promoted twice & featured in two play-off campaigns in the Championship, built a new stadium and have now spent two seasons in the PL.
Brentford fans perhaps had lower expectations, and maybe that is what we need to do, temper our expectations. As Mr Clowes puts it, 'there has been more bad than good over the last thirty years and there hasn't been a lot of success...' but he praises the fans were continually sticking by the club, and it's  been a constant theme during his ownership, how much value he places on the club's support. He cannot do it alone.
It was also interesting to read early in the interview how it appears Mr Clowes has been asked a couple of years before to get involved in owing a football club & you wonder if he had been approached before by Mel Morris, but the situation at the club (its complicated finances) & the responsibility of owing it deterred him until his hand was ultimately forced by Kirchner.
It is immensely frustrating to see us where we are, but consoling, too, that we have an owner now who has a long-term vision and a proven record in his own business field, so that he can replicate, in time, something similar at Derby.
