Personally, I don't read that "interchangeable fixture list" section as being related to the resubmission of the accounts, but just that the EFL hope to have the punishment for the amortisation offence changed on appeal to a points deduction last season. Surely the commission can't issue a punishment for an offence that they don't even know to have been committed and if so to what extent, and I'm sure if this were the case the EFL would spell it out more clearly in the statement. If we do breach the overspend limits, I'd imagine that would constitute a different offence and would have to go through another disciplinary process.

That makes a lot of sense.

  2. “In addition, the Club has also been ordered to file restated accounts for financial years ending 30 June 2016, 2017 and 2018 that meet the requirements of FRS102, together with updated Profit & Sustainability calculations if necessary.”

So the BIG question here is will the restated accounts for 2016, 2017 and 2018 comply with or breach FRS102?

And if they do, then what happens? Presumably it’s a new offence and disciplinary proceedings start a fresh.

I've read it that the £100k is the agreed sanction, pending our resubmission of our accounts; but both Derby and Wycome have the right to appeal the decision. If Wycome win their appeal then a points deduction could be applied retrospectively which would then see us relegated, but for now, this is the only action to be taken.

The statement says “Both Derby County and the EFL have the right to appeal that sanction decision.” I don’t think Wycombe have any right to appeal.

  4. The thing with Archie Brown and left-(wing)-back, is that it wasn’t just about him getting into the first-team reckoning to challenge Lee Buchanan and Craig Forsyth, but also about staying ahead of the younger players coming through from the U18s. Will Grewal-Pollard will be in the U23s next season and first-year scholar Dylan Williams got more playing time at LB/LWB for the U23s, with Grewal-Pollard playing CB, than Archie Brown did during the run-in.

Also, in a season when a record number of U23s/U18s got allocated squad numbers and featured in first-team match day squads, Brown was never included in any.

All in all, I can see why he may have felt that his chance might not come at Derby County, especially when players who were released like Cresswell, Mitchell-Lawson etc. we’re getting first-team playing time, albeit limited, and he wasn’t.

I believe he would have had a run in the team if he had decided on staying on the wing rather than dropping back to LB when stepping up to the U23s.

I agree with that too. Defensively he looked naive at times, going forward he was quite impressive for the U23s. Certainly looked more ready to stepping up as a winger than he did as a defender.

    Moulden had an interesting season.
In January, he played for Villa.
In February, he played for us.
He then played 3 games for Man City (for the first he came on as a sub)
In March, he played for Wolves.

And Louis Moulden has just left Man City to sign for Wolves so his March destination is where he got off the trialist train.

  6. Derbyshire Telegraph reporting we should be entitled to compensation for Archie Brown but I doubt it will be much.

Anybody got any idea how much the compensation might be and how it’s calculated? (I think there’s a formula for working it out, but may be wrong).

We have only 4 coaches, right?

this time last year we had the 3 Dutch chaps as well, with Wayne as a player - so 6 coaches. We’ve therefore also reduced our coaches for the senior squad by 33% (and prob a lot more in cash terms). Or have I missed someone/something?

At first-team level Jason Pearcey (goalkeepers) and Shane Nicholson (fitness) as well.

  8. The biggest surprise for me is we’ve gone from having an unusually high number of five U23 goalkeepers (Idem, Foster, Halwax, Sykes-Kenworthy and Yates) to none.

I suppose second-year scholar (next season) Alfie Roberts could move up to U23 with Harry Evans coming in as a first-year scholar to challenge Harvey Randle, but I imagine we will bring in an U23 goalkeeper or two.

In the season run-in, Louie Moulden (Manchester City) was an U23 trialist in goal for us against Everton on 30th January and Joshua Chapman played three games for our U18s as a trialist, two in March against Manchester City and Stoke City, plus the last game of the season against Burnley on 8th May.

The Archie Brown and Festy ‘out of contract’ bits are a worry. Just saw a post on Facebook suggesting Archie’s gone - anyone know any more ?

I rate both Archie Brown and Festy Ebosele. My worry here is that surely they would’ve signed by now if they were going to?

Having said that, the majority of our U23s who were listed as ‘offered new terms’ on last year’s retained list did sign new deals in the end.

Fingers crossed ? Archie Brown and Festy Ebosele sign on the dotted line.

  10. I’m not sure it’s that unreasonable with Buchanan, Bird, Knight and Sibley already established in the first-team squad. All four could easily nail down a regular starting spot and then you only need one of the next tranche of Watson, Ebosele, Stretton and McDonald (plus others) to establish themselves and that’s half the outfield players from the Academy.

Of course, that assumes none of them are sold because, if you then sell any of your prized Academy assets, it does make it even harder to achieve.

I'm pretty sure Rooney has already stated that he wants to loan Mengi again?

Rooney has, but Solksjaer has also said he wants to take a look at Mengi in pres-season with a view to deciding whether he will be part of his first-team plans or whether a Premier League loan is better than a return to the Championship on loan. Sounded far from a done deal Mengi will return to Derby.

Played 90 minutes for our u23s in February. Centre half in a 3-1 defeat to Everton. Got an assist and a booking.

Spent time at Boro and Stoke since, I imagine if we wanted him we would have stepped in sooner.

Only if he wanted to sign for us at the time.
