    Whoa!! Two things:

    1. The Academy Thread should only be started when pre-season begins or if the squads for next season are announced.
    2. The Academy Thread should only be started by me ?

Where’s the previous Academy thread gone?

EDIT: Found it. Linking here for reference:

Is Stretton the better of the two?

Jack Stretton did very well at Stockport, scoring three goals in five appearances. He also hit the woodwork on his senior debut for Derby.

As far as I’m aware, Cresswell hasn’t been out on loan anywhere and, at two years older than Stretton, only came into the fringes of the first-team squad at the end of this season. Had Stretton been fit, I imagine it would’ve been Stretton, not Cresswell, on the bench as Stretton had returned from his loan by then.

What’s happening with Foster do you know?

That’s an interesting question, because I’m not sure who is Derby County’s #3 goalkeeper.

Both Idem and Foster had first team squad numbers, and both made the first team bench the occasional time, yet Sykes-Kenworthy made more U23 starts than either of them.

Of the goalkeepers out on loan, Mitchell is out of contract I believe, but I’m not sure about Ravas.

  5. A lot of the more experienced U23 players haven’t played for the U23s recently because of their involvement with the first-team squad.

Now that the Championship season is over, and with the U23s concluding their season tonight against Manchester United, it’ll be interesting to see if any of the fringe first-team U23 players feature or if Pat Lyons sticks with the U23 squad who lost 2-6 to Man Utd only last week.

The U18s are currently losing 1-0 to Balckburn at HT.

    Roberts

    Brailsford   Lissah   Solomon   Grewal-Pollard

    Ibrahim   Trialist

    Nicholas-Davies   Trialist   Mothersille

    Eze

Does anybody have any idea who the U18 Trialists were against Blackburn?

There's also a Daniel Cox on the bench. Supposedly a keeper and I'm guessing another from the U15s

That seems a bit odd given that Randle (also a keeper) was on the bench.

I forgot the U23s were also playing tonight, hence why Cresswell and Shonibare in particular were missing from the first team.

With a severely depleted U23 squad, the young Rams struggled and ended up losing 3-1 to Brighton despite leading 1-0. Cresswell with the goal.

Yates, Bardell, Bateman, Cashin, Williams, LThompson, Aghatise, Wilson, Shonibare, Plange, Cresswell.

Clarke, Borkovic and Duncan came off the bench.

Yes, I forgot the U23s were playing and that kind of explains Conor Dixon being a surprise on the first-team bench. Left the U23s stretched between fulfilling this fixture and filling out the first-team bench. Given that this was away in Brighton and the U18s were away in Blackburn the following day there wasn’t really an option to involve more U18s and, as it was, the U18s had to use Trialists and U15s to fill out their squad.

Cashin was captain and the U23s were a player short on their bench with Sykes-Kenworthy our other sub.

From the highlights on the official site, with a Brighton commentator, it sounds like Derby U23s started brightly. At one point the commentator says Brighton can’t get out of their own half, but an own goal, and then a soft goal, and it was an uphill task after that.
