I get that, and completely agree the change to the big finale ruined an amazing moment. I guess by the time I got to watching the last 2 at the cinema, I was mentally prepared for them to change the films in a bad way. I though Half Blood Prince was rubbish with the changes they made to that

I don't mind the films, but they aren't a patch on the books. The changes they made to the ending of Deathly Hallows (e.g. skipping Harry's final speech in the Great Hall and a certain someone exploding into thousands of pieces rather than crumpling to the floor) were almost unforgivable IMO. It completely missed the point. I still enjoy watching them though, simply because I love the series.

It sounds like you feel about RDR2 the way that many people do. It’s been designed for people who want to become engrossed in a story, role play as a cowboy who can make choices.

All the side quests and activities that you say are pointless, other people adore them and enjoy doing them. People want to collect cards. We all have different hobbies.
You say that it’s pointless to do all those things, but that’s why people play games.
I'm only 10 hours into Red Dead and I found the intro hour boring, the next 9 hours have just got better and better. I spent about half an hour in camp listening to people interact and playing cards, it was great. And then was off hunting wild bears, a completely different activity but equally worth my time

As a fan of the books, I didn’t like the movie adaptations until the last 2 (double parter of the final book)
Rewatched with my wife earlier this year. Enjoyed them more, the next one won’t fill you with joy either, but the Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2 are good films that round the series off

I saw this. Loved it, so did the kids and so did Her Indoors. From the set piece slapstick stuff to the little alien in-jokes (like a cafe called 'Milliways') to the cutesiness. Laughed all the way through.

Moving house, I found an old laptop. Imagine my joy when I found, not smutty pics or Uni assignments, but a copy of FM11 in the disc compartment!
I loaded it up to find a Derby save in 2012, 1 season in. Here’s the update - knowing players that will make it helps a bit. Derby are into the Prem, with a strike force of young Hazard, Lukaku and Griezzmann. I’ve just signed Pogba (he was still in the United reserves) to compete with Ramsey in CM. Mamadou Sakho is a beast at CB, keeping Shaun Barker captain from the bench. Miles Addison is learning from Patrick Vieira how to become a CDM, and De Gea is just about keeping the goalie shirt away from Opsina.
While I have used no cheats or naughty practices, I do have a fair amount of capital in the bank, so I’m starting to wonder if young me might have tinkered a tad. Even if that’s he case, I’m gonna take this team on and see if we can’t make the top half this season, maybe even top 4...

Was told to take the kids to see it, rather than waste an evening watching it just me and my wife. Good call.
Dumbo was a good film to watch with children, magical and emotional.
my wife and I went to see Shazam! instead. Funny, well made superhero film.

As a result of watching Captain Marvel and the ensuing debate about her as a person, along with my growing excitement for Endgame, I rewatched Infinity War last night. I think that is my favourite film of 2018, and not even ashamed. So rarely does a triple A blockbuster meet expectations, and mine were high, but this did. Scene after scene of good film.
Ive come to realise with age that movies are less about what the critics say or whether it’s a big/low budget/indie film, but whether you enjoy it when you watch it. And it’s a good place to be!

    Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 7/10
I really enjoyed the first Jurassic World, as popcorn flick that was fun and enjoyable to watch. This is not that film.
You can tell a horror director has taken the reins - it is small scale (comparable to previous films), claustrophobic at moments. One problem is it’s without the feel of wild dinos roaming the world. I didn’t feel like I was watching a Jurassic movie. For some that’s a good thing, for me it wasn’t.
I’ll give it 7 as I can appreciate it’s good points (main characters, humour, jumpy moments). Expected more though

Sully - found it to be quite a safe film, not too much real tension. Kept it close to real story, although a few bits of built up drama. Hanks is likeable, as always, and was a good watch as I could watch it with my wife and both enjoy it (not always the case). 8/10 old money, John Eustace new

Just played the intro to Far Cry 5. Graphics are very impressive, world is gorgeous to look at and play in. The antagonist doesn’t seem as ‘nutjob’ crazy as the previous instalments, and follows a narrative that is a conceivable story from real life America.

Early Man - an easy to watch Aardman movie about the beautiful game in prehistoric times. I liked it, kids were ho-hum (5+ will enjoy, my 3 yr old didn’t think much of it) British comedy traits run through it. Solid 7/10

Nolan has that exquisite way of making movies that are constantly making you think and introducing intricate story telling methods, but never leaves the audience behind. Every time I watch Inception I see something different or understand a different element of the story. A modern classic

Although the maths in the film isn't perfect, it's reasonably coherent and one of the cleverest ideas they come up with. Basically (and true to real-life) an hour of real time is the equivalent of 12-20 hours dreaming (20 if you have a strong sedative like the guy is able to prepare). And in the next level of dreaming this is multiplied so an hour in real life will be between 144 and 400 hours of dream time. And so on. Your question gets it the wrong way around. They have to do everything during the flight to America, but by the time Cobb is rescuing old man Saito from "limbo" at the end it's right that Saito would have lived decades down there and Cobb would have had time to bring him out.
Either in reality Cobb knows Yusef is a good chemist and has to go to wherever it is (Morococo?) to hire him or it's Cobb's overall dream state and he finds himself there when he needs the good chemist.
I think the film would have been dull if they explained how people get into each other's dreams. They show a device that they hook themselves up to and for that you have to suspend your disbelief and accept that this is possible.
In the film, the different levels are parts of different people's dreams. My personal interpretation was the entire film is set within an overall dream of Cobb's, but he refuses to acknowledge he's dreaming. His wife has killed herself to wake up, but he doesn't think it's a dream so he can't dream he's not being chased. But if you take the initial level as reality, the dream levels go:
Van chase - chemist Yusef's Hotel - Arthur Snow fortress - Eames (the forger) Cobb's and his wife's dream world - Cobb Limbo - a shared state The absence of gravity from the truck falling has a clever impact on the next dream down in the hotel. It makes sense to me that this happens, though I can see inconsistencies in that it doesn't affect the further down dream levels. The Nolan brothers would probably argue the effect is localized. Though I accept the kick of van hitting water and lift hitting the ground feed through the other levels.
All thoughtful questions. My answers may be rubbish or unsatsfying but it's important to me that there is a logical consistency to these things so I enjoy thinking about it. Onward! I have premieres of Downsizing and How to Talk to Girls at Parties coming up in a couple of weeks so look forward to posting about those.
    Is that good or bad?

    Wash your mouth out!
Inception is one of the finest movies ever made. Only Cobb has real depth because all the other characters are shallow representations of people in his subconscious, as he explains to his missus at some point. That's after she's explained to him that being pursued around the globe by nameless organizations is because he's in a dream. But he refuses to wake up. You're waiting for a train...
Extraordinary conception. How do you know you didn't dream up DCFCFANS? Do you remember how you got here?
