Warne has to go if we lose here. No point in sticking with him

Best squad in the league on paper. One of, if not the biggest budget. Best training facilities. Best stadium.

Yet this is the football we’re producing week in week out. Time to go Mr Warne.

Exactly this. Entitlement has nothing to do with the reason I am critical of Paul Warne. I am a ST holder, I was at Cheltenham and I’ll be at Stevenage in a couple of weeks as well. I am invested in the club and want us to do well. I don’t boo or abuse Warne or the players;  never have, never will.
But I reserve the right to express my view on the style of football the team plays. I dislike it, it’s tedious, one dimensional and makes it really hard to enjoy watching my team. I don’t rate the manager and don’t think he will bring us success. I understand some fans would be happy to watch us grind out 1-0 wins all season if it got us promoted but i‘m not one of them. I want to be entertained and I think it’s possible to play good football at this level.
Ultimately you pay your money and takes your choice and so my position is that I’m entitled to air my view’s as long as I’m not being personally insulting or abusive about anyone. I do however agree that there are far too many  Warne in/out threads on the forum.

Sorry to hear you feel like that. Shame that you've been put off posting, I always liked what you posted.
I think a lot of the problem these days is people find it hard to agree to disagree. The internet makes it easy to shout your opinion, and even easier to argue with someone about theirs. It brings people together in their little tribes, which then tends to make people dig their heels in as they have a group of people agreeing with them. It never used to be like that, when all we used to have was our mates in the pub, who would quickly reel each other in when they started talking rubbish.
We're all guilty of it. It's a shame if it makes people feel like they can't take part in discussions though. We are all Derby at the end of the day.

It's not so much position, as what he's being asked to do on the field.  To get the best out of him, you want him getting on the ball and driving into the final third or running onto through-balls.  If you play him as a 10, you're maximising his chance to do that, but you can absolutely get him doing it from other positions.  If you're getting plenty of decent possession in the final third, he can be effective from wider.  At times he was effective from fullback, particularly when we were up against wing-backs and he was a spare man with license to bomb on.  What you don't want is him being a defensive fullback, or a winger that's staying very wide to get crosses in, or playing deep in midfield.

I’ve never heard of a modern day manager say I wanted to give up the middle of the pitch to have more play out wide. I can see why we have no control in matches if that’s his tactics.

Hate to sound like a spoilt brat, but if what you say is correct about 4 years come what may then DC needs to get in the real world.

Managers don’t last that long these days unless genuine success is being had. Plus as others have noted, the atmosphere is turning sour, we can’t have this for another 2 years.

Think DC needs to get a proper director of football in. However for the short term let’s get Warne out and get Warnock in.

    This is my fear.
If we aren't careful we could be stuck in the lower divisions for years.
David Clowes, like Mel, may be a wonderful businessman, but not so when running a football club.
If DC watches this tripe and thinks we need to stick with Warne, especially when Warnock is available (and probably cheap), then I worry.
If ever there was a time we could actually do with trigger happy Mel, even for 5 minutes 😆

Money talks. When Warneball drives thousands of people away from going to games Clowes won't have a choice.

The football is really turgid stuff, first half was dreadful.
So incredibly one dimensional, get it out wide and hope the winger can beat the full back and cross.
No plan for if that doesn't work, seemingly full backs are being told not to overlap and we aren't trying to progress play through the middle.
Early subs made sense and did improve us but he lost the plot towards the end.
Bird had a big impact playing from deep, when he got pushed further forward he got crowded out, I thought the obvious change would have been Smith off (who'd had a poor game) and drop Bird back in with Sibley at 10.
The change to a back 3 and bringing Washington on absolutely killed us and Cheltenham could've had a winner.
We need to be vastly more creative and actually attempt to score goals in ways other than crosses and set pieces, but I don't see this changing.
Think Warne is a little bit lucky that  there is no home game next weekend, a bad result there would have gone down very poorly.

I think the point people are making about yesterday is that although we didn't do too badly playing the way we were set up, some of us feel we could have done so much better with a midfield three and playing football on the ground more.
    Cheltenham are poor.

Nope..slept on it and I am still furious about yesterday’s match. I rarely comment on this forum, but I enjoy the comments and banter. Living just outside Cheltenham, this game is a bit special for us, with some of us living within walking distance of Whaddon Road and rarely being able to get tickets for away games. So we had 6 seats in the Cheltenham fans.
Furious, because for the first 20 minutes of the second half Max Bird ran the game from central midfield and we had Cheltenham on the ropes. Then inexplicably Bird gets moved forward to the number 10 role to accommodate the ineffective Hourihane. After that we should still have won it against such poor opposition, but to move Bird was tactically inept and made us less effective.

There will be people saying 'don't overreact', 'it's just one game', 'needs more time' if (more likely when) we are still in this position in January. Or April. Or next January come to that.
I'd love things to come good, but the idea that doubts about Warne are 'knee-jerk' with all the evidence we now have are ridiculous.

It's not knee-jerk stuff when the performances have been poor for a majority of the season so far.

Maybe they wanted to play in a team that played through midfield? I imagine this isn't the first time this exalted tactic has been played? Players talk to each other.

I've really really really wanted to give Warne the benefit of the doubt.
Even after watching that, I was still just about onside, let's face it Collins should have scored at least once today, that's not on the manager.
His Radio Derby interview has tipped me over the edge.
Giving up midfield as a deliberate ploy when facing the 24th best team in the league, without a single goal to their name all season, how on earth do the squad take confidence in their abilities when that's the managers mindset?
Even if that attitude was successful over a season, what happens beyond?
Ipswich are running wild in the division above, having been promoted last season, can anyone honestly see a PW led Derby County doing the same if we somehow squeaked promotion this year?
He talks a good game, but plays a pretty poor one.
