Asanovic70 reacted to IncredibleKoosh in Blackburn Away Match Thread
Every game this season has been massive. Mentally and emotionally that must put a massive strain on the team. It does feel that the weight of it all might just have become a little too much based on tonight. And that's okay.

You sound like the ideal candidate to run this next season..

Asanovic70 reacted to Dimmu in Poll: what's going to happen?
I sometimes do scenarios for my living but this one really is difficult:
Best case scenario:
New, wealthy owner announced this season, we tie up all the contracs we want, we don't get relegated, academy keep its status, stadium belongs to club.
Worst case scenario:
This is a tough one. Phoenix club? (I'm so pissed of with the professional football, that I'm not sure is that really a bad thing...) Dropping to League 1 with -15 points and still in admin when next season starts? With a team full of journeyman? It really is weird situation, when you don't know what's the worst case scenario.
Most realistic scenario: Most likely somewhere between worst and best. It's another tough one as there's not enough data to really know. Relegation, new owner at the end of the transfer window, not too much money for a rebuild, Bird, Bielik and Knight sold, leased stadium and academy status remains intact? I think I'd take it.
One thing always works: Aim for the best, prepare for the worst.

Asanovic70 reacted to Day in Poll: what's going to happen?
Nobody on here would be able to confidently predict what the outcome of private negotiations will be.
What I would say is, I can’t believe that any of the interested bidders would seriously be looking to take over with a -15 point deduction next season.
My own personal situation aside, I just find it bizarre when there is no compulsory purchase of the club why they wouldn’t prefer to satisfy the minimum requirement of the creditors and look to purchase the stadium further down the line if they don’t have the funds to complete both purchases now.
Which would also raise concerns that if they cannot find that money now, what will the future look like in terms of investment to rebuild and move forward.
So with that I’m happy that talks with the Binnies have ended.
My guess and it is a complete guess, Mike Ashley is the front runner however he’s trying to get Quantuma and Mel Morris to take less money, reducing the full purchase price. Ashley would want the stadium to plaster Sport Direct branding all over it, Lee Charnley has probably been round with a tape measure already.
To be honest, at this point I’m just interested in what is happening on the pitch, fears of liquidation have gone now the Steve Gibson shaped obstacle has been removed and having just turned away the Binnies which would have been better than nothing, I will sleep better…..whilst aware that there is still the potential for all this to go pear shaped.
It’s been a rough few months and just want to enjoy some football now.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to Ellafella in Poll: what's going to happen?
My gut feel and not based on any evidence or firm reasoning:
1. Club will be bought eventually but at very low price.
2. Current players will all disappear to balance books.
3. Relegation to L1 & 15 point deduction next year.
4. Bare bones & remnant shell of a Club next season.
5. If the rot stops there, we can effectively begin again.
Sorry to be pessimistic but clearly the protracted nature of it all tells the story.
Lets though stay positive because that’s what ultimately keeps the Club going. A season or 2 of bare survival but we come back stronger in 3 years. Look at Luton. Keep the faith. It’s what makes the City a footballing hotbed.

Asanovic70 got a reaction from angieram in A refereeing conspiracy?
I agree with your comment about incompetence, I do think we exaggerate the flow of a football game though, there are plenty of stoppages, sometimes the ball is only in play for 20+ minutes in a half.
Rooney's outburst: I am not going to judge him, he is perhaps cutting an increasingly desperate & forlorn figure. He reminds me of Clough during the long, awful spells, like '10-'11 (winter). He is obviously human & lets his emotions get the better of him, as can happen to all of us.
I thought Steve Morison was magnanimous. He could afford to be after a late win. He praised the way we played. Unfortunately, we lack a cutting edge, the lack of depth, quality & experience are now all too evident. The January window really damaged us. It is reminiscent of 2008/11pts. A squad on its knees, desperate for assistance & the in-coming players didn't make much of an impact, due to our position in attracting players & lack of finances. New signings can boost a team, offer alternatives (tactics) & allow other players to rest/recover from injuries instead of rushing them back. Instead, we lost some vital experience in Jagielka & Shinnie.

Yes, I thought you'd bring that one up. You have to remember VAR is administered by referees and, again, is down to perception. And with or without VAR, referees can take the easy way out from big decisions.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to RodleyRam in A refereeing conspiracy?
VAR is used really effectively in Rugby, which is a much more complicated game. I think the main difference being that the refs are significantly better to start with, the touch judges are significantly better and the video refs are also significantly better. Technology is only at good as the people using it in this case for me.
Football has to improve.
As for refereeing, I doubt we get more dodgy decisions than others to be honest. We didn't lose tonight because of the ref, we just lacked that bit of luck/quality in front of goal. We score first, we go on to win. You really get the rub when you're at the bottom.
-
Asanovic70 got a reaction from uttoxram75 in A refereeing conspiracy?
As for a conspiracy, it does feel like it because we're in a situation where everything seems to be going against us, the football authorities, EFL, even the effing footballing gods upstairs are sprinkling their fairy dust over Middlesbrough & Forest in the FA Cup. One more likely reason is that we have a squad of players who are playing week in, week out, a third game in six days as pointed out, so fatigue plays a part.

I agree, that was a terrible decision, with injury literally added to insult. I think other referees must have noted it because Yates went on to make a similar challenge & was red-carded in his next game at Bristol City. No consolation to us, but it suggests other referees may have thought it was lenient.
-
Asanovic70 got a reaction from angieram in Matchday Thread v CARDIFF CITY (AWAY)
Not sure I agree with you, Andy. Yes, he's been a definite miss, one we couldn't afford to lose, but so many other factors, the failure to bring in any players in January, the EFL vetoing any free signings now.
This squad has been asked to do the impossible, minus 21pts. I think other factors like Reading scraping a win last week the day before we played. Little psychological blows/doubts.
I hate the way the media always call us 'struggling Derby'. Bloody hell, any EFL team would struggle with a 21 point deficit.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to TuffLuff in Matchday Thread v CARDIFF CITY (AWAY)
Even if you disagree with him, do you not think he’s trying to deflect from those young players who are struggling but he’s been given no option but to play?
Also think of all the crap he’s had to endure this season, where he’s taken it all on the chin. He sounded dejected and frustrated and he’s done well to not walk away and take it all out of his hands.
It’s very easy to criticise Rooney, Lawrence, Davies etc when it all goes wrong but they’ve put more on their shoulders this season than anyone and battled week in week out, it’s fallen apart the last few weeks but it would be a miracle to do what they were doing for the whole season.
-
Asanovic70 got a reaction from FlyBritishMidland in Matchday Thread v CARDIFF CITY (AWAY)
No one's giving up, but let's be realistic here. This season has been a physical slog, Nov to Feb really testing in this league. This side has won plaudits, but it is the month after the January window where we are now beginning to struggle. Yes, Lawrence was a big miss, but losing Jozwiak meant losing another option. We are asking Bielik to come into the midfield after a second major knee injury when the manager may have preferred to ease him in more.
This has been a bitterly disappointing period for us as fans, I could just about accept this miserable season (and likely relegation) if Quantuma could get their act together & announce a preferred bidder, or someone prepared to take us on. I'm not fooling myself that we will get promoted straightaway, but if we have someone like Mike Ashley, I'd be more confident that we would turn things around.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to IslandExile in Matchday Thread v CARDIFF CITY (AWAY)
Yeah, too many soft free kicks given these days. I'd've expected Curtis to be stronger. Likewise, it wasn't really a foul on Ebosele at the start of the move. (Despite what Rooney is saying in the interview on Sky).
There was also the mistake, saving the throw in but giving them the ball.
We're just blaming the ref when it's our own fault. Not just the defending, we're just not creating chances.
I'm not knocking Rooney or the squad. They've been magnificent. But the squad is paper thin, they look exhausted and there just isn't the creativity there without Lawrence, Jozwiak or the players we could've bought without the embargo.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to FlyBritishMidland in Matchday Thread v CARDIFF CITY (AWAY)
The inexperience has shown a bit tonight but that can’t be a surprise, we knew the last 3rd of the season would be tough given the make up of the squad. I think Festy went down a bit easily - I think the one on Curtis could easily have been given - and Ebiowei shouldn’t keep that in unless he can hit it 30 yards down the pitch. But he’ll learn. They’re just learning when it matters - not their fault, it’s the situation we’re in.
It’s tough to stay up, but it’s not over. Rooney won’t give up and he won’t let anyone else!!

The transfer embargo put on in January by the EFL is starting to take it's toll.

30 touches in opponents box compared to 12 for Cardiff yet only 1 shot on target. Pretty much sums it up.
Ducking shoot.

It would have to be a loanee from Boro, wouldn't it?
I forgive the young lads in our side, we lost experience in the window with Shinnie & Jagielka.

Asanovic70 got a reaction from SaffyRam in Respect Vs Get in the bin
Gibson would probably sue the bin for preventing Boro getting in the play-offs. Apparently, Pulis wanted to sign it on loan.
