I'm about to be a massive dhead (moreso than usual), so stop reading if you're particularly devastated that some people you didn't know died in a plane crash.
I just can't get over how odd the reaction in Cardiff has been to this tragedy. I completely understand any commemorations held by Nantes. These were people who knew the guy and were friends with him, but few people at Cardiff ever even spoke to him. Just imagine if this happened at your place of work. You're told the new sales director, Emiliano, will not be taking up the position as he unfortunately died in a road traffic accident. You never met him, but saw him once or twice when he was in for interviews. A week later you decide to thank the accounts team for putting in some overtime on one of your projects, "We did it for Emiliano" they earnestly reply. Everyone claps. Ian from the fabrication team is openly weeping. Would you not find this a little bizarre?

A Psychologist on TV said its called competitive grieving, showing you care more than the next guy! Driven by social media. Apparently the stiff upper lip British culture of the past is rapidly eroding away, so I guess we can look forward to more of this stuff.

Do what I do TT - refuse to accept the polite offer by being even politer - "No, No after you. It's your right of way. Thank you so much for stopping but I choose to wait. I'll go when it's the correct thing for me to do." It irritates the life out of them

Two things ladies and gents as I've just stumbled onto this thread and still have 260 pages to read. Can you stop being so funny? It's taking too many of my likes. FFS, it's a football forum not a stand up comedy show. Get a grip.
And while I'm on that subject.
People who don't like other posters comments just because it's that poster who has commented. Some genius comments don't get the likes they clearly deserve. (not mine, I hasten to add)
I don't even look at the posters name anymore, just read it and if it's good click like, clap or raise a glass.

People who commentate / manage their way through the match out loud. Yesterday was sat near some bloke and all game long it was 'that's it, out to Bogle, now forward, inside to Bryce, make your run lad, ooh he's lost it, get your shape back, get back Fozzie, don't let him get the cross in, challenge him, don't give away the corner, good tackle, now up to Mace, give it now then run the line, in you come Mounty, take your time lad' and so on for the whole bloomin' match. Kinda irritating - to say the least - even more so that the erratic outbursts you often get this was a constant drone of bilge.
I wanted to ask him why, whether it somehow made him feel that he understood the game and needed to make that point to everyone around him but I somehow guessed he wouldn't have taken the question positively.

Or maybe I'm just a normal bloke that drive a Range Rover cos I like 'em. Why should this bother or worry you or anyone else?
Agree about the green lanes and reincarnation bits though.

'One life, live it.'
Usually on the back of a land rover with bullbars and a wynch.
a) Reincarnation
b) Being 'alive' isn't synonymous with being a testosterone tourist, churning up the countryside and ruining green lanes for everyone else.
Four by four by duck off.

Have some bloody compassion.
How many times do you have to go there.... once per year. And that's a day out for you so at least there's some novelty to the occasion
For me I go 23 times each season!!! So forget "the worst away day", it's "the worst home day" ... no wonder the atmosphere is poo and no one turns up, we're all fed up of trudging up there each week

I (like many) use Farenheit when it's hot ie 80F, but use Centigrade when it's cold. No idea what -5C is in Farenheit

Probably mentioned this before but it still annoys me....uk tv programmes/news using kilometres per hour for speed or distance. Means nothing to us....use miles/mph!

Excellent @Duracell, that’s just the reason I post this stuff, I admit that I do it for my dad, they are his heroes not mine the same as your grandad, when they were going through tough times personally their little old team from the town of Derby was the best team in the land and gave them something to feel great about, they had duck all money in their pockets but they shared their love and support of Derby County who had done nothing since 1946 !
These guys have become my footballing heroes since meeting them all, Roy McFarland said that aswell as teaching them how to play football he taught them to respect others and none more so than your own family, he made them take flowers home to their mums and he taught them how to act like gentlemen both on and off the pitch and to a man that has stayed with them all !
We cant forget these men, we look at them now and see a collective of seventy something year olds but go back fifty years and they were about to become the cream of British football !
ive met hundreds of Derby players and I have got to say with every passing generation the passion for Derby County becomes a little less evident, nowadays it’s just a fantastic job open to the very few and all about money, in the seventies it was all about being the best, getting called up for your country and just daring to believe that you could be a champion ! Nothing about money or cars or big houses or the fittest girl friend, just being a winner within a band of brothers that stayed together and did it not once but twice for eight of them !

As always guys thanks for all of the positive messages, it is such a shame that he couldn’t have been presented it by his captain at the time on the pitch at the first game of the season as planned but something litigious got in the way and spoiled it but just seeing Jim’s face when I handed it to him was well worth it.
he still works tirelessly now trying to put together a legal case for footballers who have been diagnosed with dementia, he has been working on it for 13 years and studied for a PhD to assist him in his research.
a top top man !
it was Jim who gave me the battered old ball from the 1968 league cup 3rd round replay versus Chelsea which in turn had been presented to him by his then captain Dave Mackay for being the man of the match, it was that game that started the Clough journey real, the night the Baseball Ground shook !
so a favour for a favour !
