David said he's getting his post fact checked before he can put it out there. I suspect after the reaction to the Punjabi Rams tweets last night (to which they've been really quiet about today) and the guy who got his few minutes of fame on local radio this morning, that the club decided that they need to make sure that the supporters reps who were at the meeting last night need to word there responses more carefully so people don't all jump to worst case scenario reactions.
I think the intentions behind the meeting are correct - to clear the air and give some answers to people they think they can trust and will be able to communicate well with the rest of the fan base. However, the demand for answers from fans and the knee jerk tweets last night have intensified the feelings between fans and chairman/club instead of putting people at ease.
I'm sure we'll have some sensibly worded responses/reports from last nights meeting soon and also find out the answer to the important question... Does Mel have pineapple on his pizza? If he does, he can F right off out of here...

I don't think anyone is arguing for only having 13 or 14 experience players and it's misleading to suggest as much. The truth is for far too long we ran with way way too many experienced players on the whole and in specific positions especially especially when the players we were signing were often approaching the twilight of their career. @Ghost of Cloughhas provided several specific examples where this has been the case and the point he's trying to make his if you have two experienced left backs on the book and an talented academy lad on the books maybe don't go out and buy another left back who makes no material difference to the squad's quality.
With Hughes you may have a point but a major major reason why he got game time was because of necissity and because of Clough chancing on him. You are kidding yourself if you think Hughes would have broken through in the likes of Rowett's season. On the other hand Hendrick is actually a pretty damn good example of the opposite of what you are trying to say. Hendrick didn't look close to ready in my opinion when he first broke through and I'd say it was a season or so before actually looked like a championship standard player. But that's the trick through playing he developed into a better player.
Should we go back to the Clough days where we just had to give them chances because of no other choice ? Ideally no but they'd likely develop faster. Ideally we have a core small squad of around 22 players comprised of signings and the more mature academy talent (think Knight and Buchanan) with academy talent as emergency cover in and around the first team.

My little input regarding the academy involvement.
When Mel took over, he started investing heavily in the academy, which he knew would take a number of years to bear fruit. Investment went into the first team in his 2nd season, which theoretically wouldn't impact the long term prospects of the academy. Involvement of fringe academy players was reduced under certain managers (Pearson, Rowett). I believe Mel has previously suggested he was misled during the interview process Academy products were involved a lot last season, but Buchanan and Sibley in particular should have been used a lot more than they were Minutes given to academy graduates in the league

    Bad recruitment
This could fall under the manager, recruitment or even Mel.
15/16, Pearce/Shackell - Signed both at the same time (4 and 3 year deals respectively), only for Shackell to play in the first season and Pearce to play in the second, with minimal involvement in the other seasons. Why didn't we sign just 1 of them, with Rawson in reserve? 15/16, Olsson - Warnock and Forsyth already at the club with Lowe on the fringes 15/16, Blackman/Camara - We already had Ince, Russell and Weimann, with Bennett on the fringes 16/17, Anya - We already had Ince, Russell, Weimann, Blackman and Camara on the wings. One of the most pointless signings of all time. 18/19, Malone/Cole - Forsyth and Lowe. We also had McDonald on the fringes. 18/19, Jozefzoon - With Wilson, Lawrence, Waghorn and Bennett already as options, we should have given minutes to LThomas, McAllister or JML 19/20, Hamer/Dowell/Paterson - all pointless loans

I agree with Mel’s academy comments and although I appreciate I’m in the minority I would rather watch Cashin develop than Wisdom make his customary howlers, see Bird kick on rather than have another Butterfield at 4m and give Ebosele a go instead of Anya at a combined cost of approaching 10m (fees and wages).

Fair play to @Davidfor representing the forum and i pressume he did his best to get our questions out there.
From what i have seen though David left early to get his train home? Surely it would have been more ideal to send someone who could actually stay the duration of the meeting as we want as much information as possible?
Just going to have to rely on other fan groups write ups i suppose.

If anyone gives @david grief over tonight they're a moron. (Deliberately not tagged to give him a rest).
The fella has gone above and beyond his duty, after all he's just the owner of the most popular DCFC forum, not a spokesperson for the fans.
It would have been so easy to either send someone else, or decline the invitation outright, and no one would have called him for that, in fact I'd guess some people would praise him for a principled action, and not being cowed by a NDA.
Instead he's put himself out, travelled a decent distance, by crappy public transport, and attended what was probably not a particularly pleasant meeting so he can report back to us whatever he's found out, yet he still gets knocked.
Tbh, if I were him, I'd switch the forum off once I got home and let everyone stew.

I think Sheff United & Jokanovic may take time to gel & what looks a good match up may actually end up backfiring.  He's inherited a squad familiar with one manager & his style of play. The likes of Brewster may thrive under the new boss, but the Blades are unsettled (Berge). I think Wilder's reputation took a massive knock after the owner revealed his side of the story. He basically said that he'd back him if they got relegated but asked questions about why some of the signings, like Brewster, were not working out. That seems a fair criticism. Wilder came across as a bit of a Billy Davies, pursuing his own agenda, agitating to leave a lot earlier than he did and clearly something must be amiss if WBA were divided about appointing him.
As for us, I think we are in a desperate situation. We have some talented players, but we also need the types flagged up by Steve Nicholson, 26-29 in age, experienced and in their physical prime to cope with a demanding league (know how). We, too, could receive a points deduction. If you flip things round and another side was in our predicament & experienced the close season we've had, you'd probably have them in the bottom three.
I think several sides in/around us last season have gone quietly about their business and have experienced managers who may not be spectacular but know football & the division. The likes of Coventry will be boosted by the return to the Ricoh, I agree about QPR, Blackpool have a promising manager, many of our rivals in our division play as teams (Luton). At the end of last season, we fell apart and were in freefall.
I think Preston could struggle, if Alex Neil couldn't turn around things, the new boss may struggle and interim bosses struggle to continue making the same impact after getting the job on a permanent basis. Swansea have had a difficult summer and lost the spine of a team like we did under Frank Lampard: on loan GK Woodman, Guehi, Hourihane & Ayew in attack, whose contract came to an end. It's a good job & yet Eustace turned it down, perhaps because it'll be hard to maintain the momentum they've had for the last two seasons.
Blackburn may struggle, Mowbray has done a great job but it seemed to fizzle out & there was speculation about his role - and if they lose Armstrong, he could be hard to replace. I also agree about Bristol City though they have enough experience to stay out of danger. They lack goals, but Weimann's return could be key.
You'd expect some of the promoted sides to struggle, Hull are under an embargo as well.
As for the top end of the divison, Fulham look most likely. Usually a side with a manager in situ for at least one season challenges. QPR & Middlesbrough perhaps with Warnock, love him or hate him.

I find the hostility our members have to other fans quite annoying at times.
Obviously you can have those who just come on for a wind-up, but way more often they are genuine fans interested in discussing the match and our relative positions at that time.
You will see our members going down the 'you are a tiny club' route really classlessly without any reason... or the 'haven't you got better things to do on your own club's site' etc. What does it matter, maybe they are bored of the same views and discussions.
The views of visiting fans are often the ones I find most interesting. Maybe there could be a visiting fans thread if it offends other people that much - but generally I think the match day thread is the perfect place for it.

I’ve never quite understood why anybody asks for their account to be deleted.
It’s not like anybody from the admin/mod team would contact you to ask why you’ve stopped posting if you did just that. If something’s given you the hump and you want to call it a day fair enough but asking for your account to be deleted is a) burning your bridges, ( because you know you’ll miss the place and regret your decision) and b) making sure your departure is noticed and therefore a bit of a flounce to me. Attention seeking in other words.
Maybe there is indeed another reason but I don’t know what it is. ?‍♂️
