Beetle got a reaction from JoetheRam in The concept of a fan owned club
Not sure how many people need to be interested for this to happen but I am. I don't think a fan shareholder, or whatever we would be called, should be entitled to any discounts or anything as that would cost the club money. It should be a vote on a representative board member and a vote on the budget. Having a say in the direction of the club would be enough for me.

Key thing for any fan appointed directors is to ensure the club is setting budgets that’s within its means. Simple as that.

Beetle reacted to Day in Rams Trust: A Letter to the Club
Full transparency. I was invited to this meeting, but chose not to put my name or the forums to this.
Reason being as I have previously stated, this forum is a platform for fans views, I am not an elected chairman/spokesman to speak on behalf of you all, simply the creator of this platform for fans views which can already be openly seen by the club.
I did not feel comfortable signing on behalf of the forum without consulting you all, and felt my name without attaching dcfcfans.uk held no weight.
My own personal views are that this letter has been created out of concern for the clubs future and regardless of how you feel towards any of the groups that have signed off on it, do not see this as an opportunity to attack supporters groups for speaking on behalf of Derby County fans.
We all love this club. ?

Beetle got a reaction from Turnstile in Can we assume MM is a rich man
The price of a business is all to do with profit and turnover. Burnley, at the moment, have a massive turnover compared to ours and are guaranteed to have for thee years due to parachute payments. The new owners could asset strip and take the TV money and earn more than they spent buying Burnley. Not possible at Derby.

Beetle reacted to ilkleyram in So what does our next kit look like?
Thanks to the interweb I can tell you!
On the 4 May 1968 we played Blackpool at home in the last game of the season and lost 3-1 to finish 18th on Goal difference. Ipswich (the other East Anglian team) were champions that year. We won 13 matches all season and lost 19. Interestingly, considering Brian's mantra was to start at the back, we shipped 78 goals. Mind, we scored 71!
There were 5 players in that final team that we would all recognise as being part of our first great side - Roy Mac, John Robson, Alan Hinton, Kevin and John O'Hare. Kevin, of course wasn't a Cloughie signing, he was Tim Ward's greatest legacy. Also in the team were Reg Matthews, Mick Hopkinson, Pat Wright, Jim Walker, Arthur Stewart and Richie Barker. Barker and Walker did have (smaller) parts to play in our future success. Ron Webster was also at the club and Alan Durban but not in the squad.
There is a good argument to make to say that as a team we never really took off until Sir Brian signed Willie Carlin from Sheffield Utd part way through the 68/69 season. He provided the feistiness, leadership and midfield control that we could probably do with next season. He was a small and bloodyminded, shop steward of a scouser and we were to replace him with a small and bloodyminded, shop steward of a scot in Archie Gemmill. Put either in our current side and you would see a huge difference.
When we look back we see only success but - and it might appear to be heresy now - there were many who doubted Roy McFarland's abilities, Alan Hinton who couldn't tackle and John O'Hare who was too slow. Kevin was a hero from his debut onwards and the undoubted star of the team. There were certainly many on the terraces who objected to Brian's brashness and that he didn't deliver in his first season what he promised. The 67/68 team produced worse than Tim Ward's teams. Had social media been around there would have been a vigorous Clough Out campaign.
You forget too that these were the days before the internet and worldwide TV - when every single player of almost any age is widely known about - so that Brian and Peter could go and steal Roy from Tranmere under Liverpool's noses; and you forget too that the Transfer Window is a recent thing so that, in those days you could sign anyone at any time. In many ways it made life easier for a manager and less expensive for a club. There were no agents, no cameras outside club gates and no deadline day.

This is all very strange. If the accounts will comply with FFP in either ammortisation formats then this whole process has been a waste of everyones time and money. I must be missing something

Beetle got a reaction from Carnero in EFL appeal
If the EFL are after retrospective action shoud it not be applied to 19/20 and not 20/21? Why should they be able to choose 20/21? Both seasons have finished.

Lets hope the panel allow us to to resubmit the P&S calculations and they are within the limits. Mr Morris can then hand the EFL its arse on a plate and we can all drink and be merry.
I keep getting flash backs of Forsyth knocking that ball down to Paterson. Hopefully those thoughts will be gone by the time this is all resolved...

Beetle reacted to Indy in EFL appeal
Yes. That was the opinion of the panel (no accountancy expertise). The original ruling from the commission (including an accountant) went into great detail on this and concluded we were compliant (as did three years of auditors signing off accounts). And it’s going back to the same commission (and accountant) to determine the punishment and by implication admit to their own incompetence in the original ruling.

Beetle got a reaction from r_wilcockson in Realistic Manager Alternatives
They'll be loads of managers wanting to manage us. We're a decent sized club with facities to attract players. Just on a bit of a slump at the moment. You could almost say it would be a free hit for a manager if he were to fail.

This post should be pinned, not lost in the obscurity of a possible transfer thread.
It shows that Derby County fans can be rational, sensible, consider circumstances and look at the bigger picture. Nice one, @cheron85.
