So disappointing that we will end up putting this money on a loan fee for Smith.
A loan fee for a 32 year old striker who can’t get a game a championship side in the relegation zone would be up there with any of Morris stupid deals.

I knew he’d refused a new contract. Bristol had enquired weeks ago. It sounds like desperation from derby. Watch us sign Langstaff , JCH or something along those lines now.
Would be very happy with either of those next to Michael smith or Lee gregory

The Club will have a rough idea of what they would get in a tribunal, so my guess is slightly less than whatever that would be.
This way probably suits us better IF we can use that money to recruit. We still have the same player but extra funds, it seems like it’s essentially the Cashin plan from the summer but just less money involved.
Just read £2.5m, that seems far too good to be true.
-
I’d be amazed if we got £2.5m for bird! Genuinely hope so but really don’t see it.

That's a weird thing for Bird to agree to. I'd have thought he'd have a few suitors when out of contract at the end of the season, at which point has been repeatedly said, we'd get very decent compensation for him.
To do this deal now, we must be very keen on money now to bring a striker in. We've discovered that the restrictions of the business plan we're having to work to mean we cannot buy any players unless we sell, hence CBT had to be a loan until the end of the season. I suspect Bristol City will have got him on the cheap by us getting the money up front now.
If we use the money on Smith, we're fools. It's just so short-termist and so short-sighted. If we use it to bring in a promising striker with the likelihood of flourishing for us in the Championship after helping us towards promotion, then it's clever business.
Intrigued what the fee is for this, be surprised if even close to £1m! You don’t sign players for that sort of money and loan them back.
Lets see what striker this enables us to bring in.
-
Not against this at all, if selling bird enabled us to bring Clarke Harris in would think that a very good deal.
Smith isn’t very inspiring, surely the £1m loan fee mentioned is incorrect?
-
Open to this, hopefully can stay fit. Fornah has been a bit up and down. Started really well, then fell off quite dramatically. Still has shown some qualities though, carries the ball well.
Hopefully this a sign the midfield pairing is to change, bird and hourihane is not working.

To me it’s just an obvious opportunity to keep him match fit and to play some football seeing as he’s not been involved lately. 🤷
It could be anything couldn’t it! My message was tongue in cheek

Joe Ward playing for the 21s tonight. That for me makes me believe he is the player on the way out.
He’ll probably get injured on that basis

Played inconsistently you mean. Sibs only consistent role has been as fullback. And despite Warne claiming he's one of the best shots at the Club he hardly ever gets a run (ie more than a game and a half!) in a forward slot. Another loss of potential and money like Knighty who was made to look poor by Warne. When Bird and Cashin go too how much in lost revenue will it have cost us I wonder.
I get what you’re saying but some responsibility has to be falling on sibley at some point.

Honestly some of our fans are genuinely awful. The sense of entitlement some of them have is absolutely staggering.
Yesterday was all about winning. The performance didn't matter. We're absolutely littered with injuries. Booking them off at half time? Who's that helping?
Cheering the captain when he's subbed off?
It's absolutely ridiculous it really is.
Now I'm seeing "Blackett-Taylor hadn't really shown anything yet" he's been here 5 minutes, trained with us twice. I despair I really do.
All I hear is "we aren't good enough, Peterborough are better than us, Bolton are better than us"
Says who? Of course Peterborough were brilliant when they came here. But that was the same Peterborough side we put 4 past on their own ground? Bolton also just scraped past Cheltenham, Bolton lost at Leyton Orient.
Oxford fans watching us that second half at their ground would have thought we were the best team in the league, we were outstanding.
You cannot play well every week.
We never play well! Wigan was good for an hour and Oxford good. Since then been pretty rank in six games?
call some fans awful if you like but the team were booed at half time, and warne even said he should’ve booed himself. If you are happy with first half yesterday then fair enough. But feel you’re in the minority.
not writing Blackett Taylor off at all but has been pretty uninspiring so far, in close to 1 1/2 games has achieved very little. That’s all that’s pointed out.

Our central midfielders don’t look good because they are outnumbered and not allowed to do anything other than get it wide early
Is he a central midfielder? Genuinely not sure his best position. Plays well as a 10 but is so inconsistent, and when is poor is totally ineffective.

Blackett Taylor saw little of the ball, 15 touches in 63 minutes, not entirely down to him I think
I know, but surely on your debut you’d try and chase things down and get involved? Was awful but the whole team was awful for an hour. Hopefully has a better game at Charlton next week

Apparently Dom pre match said that Sibley has had offers?
Sadly is probably time to take some money for him. Sibley seems to go slightly backwards each season. Is obviously talented but just doesn’t seem to be able to find a position in our team. Under several managers now.
Still think best spell he’s had for us has been at left back. Thought he struggled there today though, defensively was awful

I’m sure Clarke Harris would jump at the chance of joining a club like us. Plenty of crosses going in and he is know for his hold up play. If it’s a toss up between him and Smith, I’d go for him every day of the week.
It’s not even close is it. If we can do this financially would be a no brainer for me.
collins having a decent season, barely touched the ball in three games though. Great goal today, but need a bit more hold up play. Not actually sure is his fault. Confused as to what our plan is
-
That first half performance was horrific, second didn’t start well but their goal at least pushed us forward. Two good goals from us, not many other positives though.
Centre mid was awful again, bird actually got a lot better when Thompson and Fornah came on. Although didn’t think either played well when the came on.
Blackett Taylor was poor too, just looked so casual. You’d think be eager to impress on debut but was almost the opposite.
good result but we need to play better very quickly!

To be honest, I'm expecting a shift to 343/523 sooner or later:
Wildmith
Nyambe Nelson Cashin
Wilson Bird Hourihane Elder
Mendez-Laing Baclkett-Taylor
CollinsEvery good run we’ve had under warne has been with a settled back four. Not sure why he ever wants to deviate from that.
-
Don’t hugely rate hourihane but think he is doing a better job than bird to be honest. Bird seems to be a midfielder who is neat at passing. Even that creates little though.
Tackling non existent, shooting is two a season, has no pace, little energy. Not bringing enough to the table for me.
hourihane also tackles horribly. But at least assists and scores more.

I’ve kept an eye on hull purely because I quite like rosenior as a bloke but he’s flirting with in and out the top 6 with a very decent squad and the times I’ve watched them I’m not overly in a rush to watch his brand of football either , against Sunderland they nicked a very very much needed win in a not too impressive style / performance of the kind people slate warne for getting, like us he has had some injuries and like us he has depended on a few decent quality players creating some magic ala cavalio,
no matter how warne turns out I’m not looking at rosenior with rose tinted glassed, he has a bit to prove he’s anything like the top rated tactical master and manager some on here are claiming
I also have wonder how much of rooneys time in charge was rosenior in charge of tactics etc. nowhere since has Rooney aimed to copy our way of playing. We went months without even looking like scoring away from home. Not sure rosenior was the man to get us out of the division.
-
Going to three centre backs a strange choice. I’d rather Bradley went up front and tried to win some headers than have three at the back

Got to be close to a sub? John Jules and Blackett Taylor on!
Take your pic of players to come off

Yeah if is around £2m I’d be happy! Probably best time for all parties too.
lets get langstaff or Clarke Harris in!
