Oh... and whilst I'm still in the mood...
I assume we had no Japanese Rams at the game either, looking at the state of the pitch by the end. What is it with scummy litter louts? 🤬
Argentina '78 it was not!
#shameful
You seem to have taken nothing but negatives from the best day in our recent history. Maybe get a new hobby mate
embarassing and shameful 🙈

I wouldn't use the word selfish as I think it's misplaced and I'm not sure what money people have contributed to the club has anything to do with it. There are competing ways people express their joy and I wouldn't place one above the other which is why I hope after 10 minutes people leave the pitch and allow the players to come out so everyone can have what they would ideally like.
Agree, I don’t get the judgement of others. Would argue as many people be on the pitch as want to see this lap of honour!

Never realised so many of us love to break the law, and defy the club's wishes/instructions so much.
Like I said I’m genuinely not fussed either way, but at no point did I look at the leverkusen or Pompey fans and think, “they’re all breaking the law and defying the clubs wishes”

Just that older people and small kids like to see their team walk round, and they cant get on the pitch.
I think kids will love seeing a pitch invasion personally!

Genuinely curious if Pompey fans had similar debates about how to celebrate promotion! Or other teams…
I really don’t care to be honest how we celebrate! Never realised people loved a lap of honour so much! Do feel is somewhat naive to expect fans not to be on the pitch tomorrow though. the place will go crazy after the last fifteen years and especially the last three or four!
Hope everyone just tries to enjoy themselves and not worry about what others are doing too much!

Their player of the year
Is an excellent player, needs to move on some point though. Seems highly unlikely Bristol rovers be playing higher anytime soon.

Assuming we resort to 343 or 352, we need to sign Adams and a mobile upgrade on Hourihane. I'd love us to pick up Sheehan from Bolton or Brannigan from Oxford, somebody who can spray the ball around and create but also have to legs to get around the pitch.
Then we just need to conjour a goalscoring, hard working, fitness freak striker and I'm sure there are loads of affordable options around 🙃
Was going to say Sheehan and Brannigan the two I’d want for centre mid. Either be excellent hopefully alongside Adams.

B4 definitely should be recognised by the club! I only ever interacted with him briefly on here, lovely guy though!
He’d be delirious with excitement at the minute, hopefully family would appreciate it too.

Forget the Reading game, forget what happened to Forest, those were 2 out of form teams trying to grimly hang on to 6th place. This is an in-form team riding high in 2nd with 1 defeat in 10 and only 4 goals conceded. No comparison.
Against bottom of the league who have already been relegated

I watched the Portsmouth v Barnsley game on I-Follow last week, Pompey won 3-2 coming from behind. I thought that Barnsley were the better team and Portsmouth's 83rd minute penalty was a dodgy call. That was their 13th penalty scored this season, only Wycombe can match that amount of luck with officials dishing out spot kicks.
If and it's not a big if, the game was drawn or even won by Barnsley the title would still be on for Derby. I look at last season with Plymouth grinding out results when being outplayed and Ipswich grabbing 2nd spot with ease. I feel, even though Pompey are champs, they are not the best equipped side for the Championship next season. Could we get a similar situation next season with Ipswich flying high and Plymouth struggling this season. Could Derby do well next season and Portsmouth struggle ?
I’m not sure this side is going to achieve what Ipswich has. We’ve been quite effective at times but flat at others, we don’t control midfield often either which could hurt us higher up. Adam’s and smith doing much better recently though.
Ipswich had much more an attacking style of play and a system, I’m not sure we’re that polished.
think we’ll stay hard to beat, need some additions in centre mid and up front and think will be pretty comfortably mid table.

Think Wildsmith was a lot better last season, was about feb time before I can even remember a goal that was his fault
hope he stays though, is a good keeper. Not a huge fan of some of his antics and could do with a bit more urgency!
like someone else mentions is a team award really, cash and Nelson the obvious big parts of that. All contributed though.

Jeez, do you ever say anything positive? We've just set a club record of points in a season and the most number of away wins and are on the verge or promotion, but you have to make a comment like that. How about getting into the spirit and enjoy the win?
I think it’s meant as a positive! As in we’re defo going up and if we don’t is our own fault!

Yes the kids would probably love to run on the pitch.
The players come over to the crowd every single game - the idea that somehow fans being on the pitch for 5 minutes would prevent them coming back out is just miserable b'stards who have nothing better to moan about. Time was fans went on the pitch last game of every season - it did no harm.
Yeah am with you on this, finding ways to moan about how we celebrate a promotion is a new form of grumpiness to me!
Been a long time coming so just hope everyone enjoys it if it happens!

I’d think will be the same team as last week! Bird for Thompson the only possible change I’d have. Would be harsh on Thompson though, will perhaps be our first sub instead if we need a goal still at half time or just after
-
Is bird fit today?
-
Not sure if anyone mentioned this but watched leverkusen last week, was amazing scenes in the ground. Never occurred to me that the people on the pitch were ruining it for the kids.

Cameron Brannigan has run the show for Oxford tonight. We need that type of player in the middle of the pitch. Contract runs until 2025 I believe but he has a footballing brain and would adapt in the Championship. Scores goals as well.
Yeah he’d be a great upgrade on bird. Must be getting close to moving on too. Is probably not going up with Oxford
has a lot more end product than bird, just seems a really neat and tidy footballer.
him and Adams be a great centre mid

Get the sense people just like to judge other fans, anyone who’s watched any football in the last ten years will know there will be a pitch invasion if we are promoted.
didn’t even occur to me that was a potential negative until I came on here!
I don’t really care what happens to be honest as long as we’re promoted!

That bold bit is where the problem lies, imo.
I envisage the majority of the attendance (22k+) will scuttle off home having not had the chance to thank/congratulate/celebrate with the people that matter... players and staff.Shame really... but utterly not unexpected.
Sort of get your point but is a lot of us who’ve got 15 years invested in this team!! A promotion is long overdue

Ref blew early but think could’ve played the last two minutes.
