At work, that style, quite a deliberate persona works well to form a team ethic and have staff enjoy working for him ... providing competence is demonstrated, take that away and its quickly seen as clownish and failing to 'see the gravity of the situation'.

I think this is spot on.
If you think he's competent as a manager, this approach works because I suspect the players think they can talk to him about anything and everything and that only helps the team. So I do think for a certain type of player, they will run through brick walls for him.

But for some people/players I suspect it comes across as being too relaxed (football classically being more important than life or death) and then there's no way he can demonstrate competence and earn respect.

Personally, I think he'd be fantastic in the pub, and second in the league ticks the competence box for me for now

Peterborough picking just the wrong time for a slump.
Couple of weeks ago, I had them as a very good Autos possibility, more so than us.
And now they're 10 points behind

and there's really only 2 teams keeping it together at the moment - us & Pompey
    Barnsley game will be crucial

It's rather telling to note that Notts Forest are trying to pretend this didn't happen, which is a sure sign that it hurts.

And clearly didn't pass on the highlights for RAMSTV

    Help me here.

Myself and many others who live abroad or cant get to games pay a substantial monthly subscription to Rams TV. I dont shut mine down in the close season. I continue to pay even though there are no games to watch for a couple of months. Have done this since RamsTV and showing live games started however many years ago that was.

Im far from being wealthy so its quite a large amount from my monthly income whats left over.

So… am I on my own thinking its very cheeky asking for extra money to watch pre season friendlies like today? A fiver isnt much to many but I think this is a bit of a misstep from the club.

and if you try to pay for the one-off game they tell you they’re charging you twice.

we had this problem a few seasons ago, it’s a mistake,

Tiny request, but any chance we can have the post title changed to something like "David McGoldrick - negotiating extension"?  I keep seeing the post get bumped with "Signed 1 year deal" in the title and have to click through to find out if it's actually a new deal or not.

    I echo this.
I also wonder/hope this is similar to the Craig Forsyth sag last summer, no news for ages, finally signs - has a great season

  6. For what it is RAMSTV is great.

If I'm going to moan, the price went up 30% and the coverage went down. Like others i miss the U21s & U18s.
I don't need the commentary or any analysis and i'm sure they're videoing any for training purposes - so just a straight feed would be really nice

Here's a possible explanation. Dobbin on the deck a couple of seconds after the "tackle" with the ball clearly still in play and rolling slowly towards the goal line. The tackler clearly brought Dobbin down in the tackle and prevented him playing on.

I think if the ball had gone over the touchline, the ref would have assumed the defender got there, but because it effectively went precisely where Dobbin would have wanted it to, he assumed Dobbin had done it.

Plus of course, it was in line with their take-out attempts throughout the match

  8. Just felt we were a little naive.
From early on it was clear, yellow cards were only given on artistic merit, and the little professional blocks, shoves etc. the ref wasn't interested in. We're used to having more time on the ball and playing teams with less skill, and so up against a team that knows how to subtly block people or pull them back, and then break, it made it really difficult.

I think we'd have done better if we'd been a bit more physical, equally with that ref, and the rolling about skills on display, we could been easily down to 10 men. I expected more of a context but not super downhearted and Cashin coming back reminded us of what we're missing. Roberts is a good substitute for Sibley but Davies' legs have gone.

Hopefully Bird is okay and we carry on in the League

Football without the fans is nothing they said during lockdown. What a load of s*** that was. They simply don’t give a toss about those of us who go to the games. Who overseas is going to be remotely interested in Derby v Barnsley FFS.

    Raises hand
I'll admit I'm in a minority though, plus it's now a 6:30 am kick-off so I also would have preferred the boring traditional 3p.m. option

Most of what he said was spot on, but some exaggeration for a couple of points.

30 minutes of battering was more like 15 minutes being on top.

I felt Sibley's challenge was certainly over physical. I'd have to see a couple of replays to judge whether it was a foul and if it was worthy of a card or nor. It's rare for a player to go off injured in that manner without a yellow card being shown.

Watching on the TV, it looked like he was going for player and ball, and  did a reasonable job of getting both. It certainly wasn't late, and I think part of the  defender's problem was that he was actually kicking the ball, when Sibley's foot arrived.
No sympathy though, if your team keeps hacking him down, and he sees a 50:50, he's going to take it

I would guess this is to get our u21 team something like competitive. Our younger players have a better chance of improving with the chance of playing better football/winning.

    I agree with this
It can't always help your development being 16 and getting battered by 18 year olds every week and the same at 18 in the U21s
Yes some will cope but some positions are more physical that others.

Just having and extra two experienced players at U21 allows us to play players in matches when they can best develop be that U21 U18 U16 or whatever. Would i prefer that we're bringing in permanent replacements for the huge outflow, yes obviously, but we'll take what we can get

Any one else have issues with last night's match, I noticed this also, especially at the beginning of the game.

Also at 55 mins, it froze and I had to come out and reload on another device, as it would eventually restart with intervention but not get past the same point.

I was running chrome on a laptop,  never had an issue before, even when abroad.....

It froze for me a few times, but no more than normal

As I've said, from my viewing angle it looked a foul and I would have liked to see the incident again from the south stand camera view. Neither the highlights nor the review shows decided to show that angle on Rams TV.

Agreed, it looks like he had a nibble as in the first half, and then Barks went down.
We do need that south stand view and i'm slightly surprised it hasn't been shown. There's the other view on the Full Match replay but it's obscured by the goal and again seems to show the foot being dangled in, and Barks going over - again though it's not the right angle to be conclusive

I suspect contact was slight, as Thompson had a word with Barks as he went off. But equally he was on a yellow, he'd shown the ref previously he was happy to shove his foot in, and he consciously moved his foot in the direction of the player and got nowhere near the ball again. So he gave him a decision to make.

Can't get up to Derby on a school night, sadly.

Like the last round, it doesn't seem as if it's on RamsTV, even for those overseas.

I'm subscribed to RamsTV audio so will listen if that's all there is, but is there a legitimate way to watch the game?

    Don't believe so.
The 2 foreign streams are Bolton vs Villa and Fleetwood vs Everton

you'll have to wait for next round
