U21’s threw away a 3 goal lead to lose at Sunderland today.

According to a pic of the teamsheet, triallists for us were:

Dan Ellison (20 years old CB - 30 games 4 goals for Chippenham in NL South this season)

Diamond Edwards (20yr old midfielder from Southampton)

Mani Ilesanmi (19 yr old CF from Harrogate Town)

Jerome Richards also had a (T) next to his name but online searches said he was already with Derby’s U18s this season.

    They aren’t good enough yet???

We haven’t seen anywhere near enough of them to make that sort of comment.

Most of our first team arent good enough.

We haven't seen a lot of them yet but the people who pick the team, who see them every day in training, who have decades of experience in coaching youth teams and knowledge of the step up between youth to senior football have seen them and aren't picking them.

What's wrong with the one's we've got in the Academy?

They aren't good enough yet, otherwise they'd be in the first team...

Who would you suggest from the U21s that is currently better than our starting XI?

Brown might be the only one close IMO. Robinson, Weston, Fapetu, Wheeldon all have potential but not 1st team quality yet.

I'm talking about bringing in 20-24 yr olds that have league experience. Unfortunately we are looking at Ireland, Scotland, lower leagues & Premier league cast-offs, because that's the pool we are fishing in at the minute.

  4. Still have the oldest average age squad in the league. Hangover from not being able to pay money for players.

Hopefully we can start to bring in a few more adventurous, energetic youngsters to inject a bit of pace & excitement back in to the squad. Feel that things are just a bit too slow at times. One or two in January would be a good start.

Let's face it, the damage done by administration and embargos will take years to reverse. Need a bit of patience.

  5. I have a private plate, my grandad owned a haulage company and purchased one for myself, my sister and my cousin at the respective times of our births. All had our names and a combination of 3 numbers adding up to his lucky number 16.

They stayed on the company lorries until we were old enough to drive and then transferred as a present. Unfortunately he isn't with us any more so, although it'll be worth a lot more now than when it was purchased in the early 90s, it is worth even more to me in sentimental value.

Jake Rooney? Or the lad we just added from Palace’s academy?
One player who is on a free having left Man United’s academy is Di’shon Bernard. Whether we’d compete for him or not is a different question. He spent time on loan at Pompey last season so might be willing to drop to league one, but likely to have other offers and maybe guaranteed starts.

Played for Jamaica in their Gold Cup win against NMLs Guatemala last night. Along with Joel Latibeaudiere who I think some people suggested would be a good fit for us as well.

sponsors can make a shirt iconic. I think back to some of the old kits from the 80s. When I was a kid I didn’t know who sharp or brother or candy was, or why it said it on the front of a kit, but it made those kits iconic for me.

To this day, I still have no idea what a Motta is… but agree with you wholeheartedly on the sponsor making certain kits iconic. Fiorientina Nintendo kit was another great. 🤔 The Italians used to get it really right in the 90s.

NML was electric in the first half of the season - arguably a top 5 performer for us.

I think he's just one of those players that fades in the second half (in games and in the season as a whole) and I'm sure Wednesday fans said exactly the same thing.

You're right though - adding international games in to the mix will make matters worse.

Did Brereton Diaz the world of good though, going to Chile. Don’t cyclists do their off-season training at altitude in South America to increase the production of red blood cells?

Many many Championship appearances, international starter, length of contract left

Twine is English. Knight wouldn’t get in the England team so that isn’t a differentiator. And Knight never set the champ alight despite his appearances. Obviously I’m no scout so can’t vouch for one or the other having differing potential ceilings. But based on the information listed, I think it is fair to compare the two.

Beyond the fact they're both League 1 players, none of that is relevant or comparable.

Knight & Twine? Almost the same age, similar position, target for championship clubs, fee comparison this year Vs last year so no massive inflation. What makes it irrelevant out of interest? Can you elaborate.
