If (and it's a very big if) the rumours of a 9 points plus 3 more suspended are true, then it makes no sense. "Negotiating" such a high punishment means the EFL know they're on dodgy ground and cannot simply impose it. Why should we ever accept such a thing when we contend we have done nothing wrong?
The only reason I can think of, is that the decision is from Mel's potential buyers, who want a line drawn and the thing over and done with. Maybe they think, come January, they can buy their way out of trouble. But if that is the case, Mel needs to be a hell of a lot more confident in his buyers than the recent Sheik or Spanish boxer fiascos. And I'm not currently sufficiently confident in Mel that he's done sufficient (or any) due diligence.

Lets just wait for the corner flag to message rather than believe the Mail or the Sun. After all this time to just accept the 9 plus 3 suspended seems a bit odd unless potential new owners have asked that it be done.

If anyone hasn't seen Dylan Williams' post-match interview on Rams TV yet, do check it out. Such a likeable lad and got a good head on his shoulders. Has the right mentality, if he keeps that he will go far in the game

Not pretty, a real hoof fest that at one point looked like a game of both keepers booting it to each other. Good debut by young Dylan amongst all that ugliness though.

Dissapointing by Buchanan but a couple players around him could have made things easier. Davies all too happy to not take responsibility, Shinnie all to flat on his heels to give the easy ball inside.

This fannying about with the ball at the back, always looking backwards, trying to draw opponents on and deliberately put ourselves under pressure, is an absolutely idiotic way of playing unless your team is full of world class stars. I do not understand why we try to do it. We are so very often the architects of our own downfall. Just stop it.

Went to Grimsby v Barnet yesterday, £20 a ticket for non league football I thought was a little expensive, however with the pandemic you can understand clubs needing to get some revenue back into the club. Walking out at full time I would have gladly paid £40 for the ticket.
Few minutes into the game Grimsby went 1 up having been awarded a penalty, by far the better team always looking to attack, Barnet bagged 2 just before half time and that only dialled up the volume of Grimsby’s singing end.
Went into the small bar under the main stand at half time, you couldn’t hear any complaining, no derogatory comments about the team, nothing, was bizarre but refreshing. My Derby tattoo was spotted and asked how we’re getting on (said half time was only 15 minutes long), why was I there, all very friendly.
They went 3-1 down, no change, The Pontoon in full voice “We only sing when we’re fishing”, incredible support given the scoreline, took me back to the McClaren days where you still thought we would win this.
Barnet and a player and their manager sent off, Grimsby went on to win 4-3 and by the end the whole ground was absolutely rocking, Alex Hunt on loan from Sheffield Wednesday with the winner, free kick just outside the box in the top bin. Only looks about 12 but turns out he’s a bit of a free kick specialist.
5030 fans, decent number stayed to clap the players off the pitch and see Sousa their right winger get his bottle of Lambrini for man of rage match.
For saying it was a last minute decision to go and take the future father in law, we got some great seats, sat next to some of the younger players and right behind the dugout to see Chris Doig going nuts all game.
Been a few times, but yesterday was right up there for entertainment, glad we went rather than sitting around at home. Get yourselves out there during international break, not all games will be entertaining as this but it really is a refreshing change to just go and enjoy the stress free football.

The winner, 2 mins into stoppage time.

We have a squad of 25 of which Bielik and Kazim-Richards are long-term injured, Knight, Baldock, Ebosele and Lawrence are short-term injured (well done to Lawrence for playing the last game) and Marshall isn't involved for whatever reason.
The key question remains "When will we be out of embargo?" Jagielka and Baldock are only contracted until the next window and if we're still embargoed then we won't be able to extend them unless we have further long-term injuries. It was a little worrying that we didn't loan Bobby Duncan to Plymouth because they only wanted him until Jan, at which point he would have returned to us as a player of professional standing. This suggests we're concerned about still being embargoed then, or else it wouldn't matter.
I would want us to be able to bring in Academy bodies as and when necessary, such as Cashin, Thomson, Plange. It's been a terrible thing for these lads that the embargo has prevented them getting the chance they would otherwise have had.
Have we got enough to survive? Let's see after 10/12 games. I'm not convinced we're fit enough, which is disappointing.

excellent Steve Nicholson line explaining that if Plymouth loaned him till January but then he returned to us, having played league football - he would then count against our ‘official player list’.

therefore we need him out for a season (or just out). Short term loans don’t work for any of our under 23s.

What a sideshow we've made of things, between the club and the EFL.
Young players can't get the development they require, either here or on loan.
You'd like to see common sense applied to such things, but it's in short supply it seems.
