It does seem that the responsibility to say "this would breach our obligations under FFP, if we do this we'll have to make sales pronto to comply or accept penalties" instead of "ok, you've told us to make it happen so we'll find a way to make it happen" lies with Pearce.

So that's it? Someone uses an exaggerated example to highlight why it's ridiculous to say people shouldn't criticise (on a Forum no less) the people who are involved in leading us to this point, but you can just dismiss it because of Godwin's Law?
I'm no expert, but based on what I read about the club, what other people on this forum say, what the man himself has said on Radio Derby, let me be clear that in my personal opinion, Stephen Pearce is as much of a disgrace as Mel Morris.
But opinions can be changed. I could be wrong so feel free to present me something that suggests he's not a disgrace instead of trying to be a smartarse with links to wikipedia and I'd be happy to say I was wrong (as I was supporting Mel Morris for 5 and a half of the last 6 years)

So when the club is in a complete mess financially, we can't aim any frustration in the direction of a charted accountant responsible for managing our finances?
What next? Not being allowed to discuss good/bad moments by individuals in a football match because they're only doing what the Manager asked? Or not being able to criticise Heinrich Himmler because we don't know what Hitler told him to do?

by that logic we may as well close the forum.

I know your comment is tongue in cheek but there are some very experienced and knowledgeable people on this site. For me the CEO and we are talking about Stephen Pearce has got away lightly so far.
He is a chartered accountant and a lot of our issues are to do with finance. He is also the operational head of DCFC so it’s his responsibility to make sure it is run correctly. If he was the CEO of any company with shareholders he would be keeping an eye on his taxi pulling up. I have no problem with his as a person but he needs to accept responsibility for the problems we are in.

If you can’t pontificate on the job function and performance of Stephen Pearce on a forum set up specific to Derby County, can you tell us all where a more appropriate forum is for such discussion?

Completely agree. Haven't seen an exclusive out of the local journos for years. The majority of the DET is clickbait/ regurgitated tweets/ info on ex players/managers. They should have been all over this. How Nixon (if he indeed does) knows more than these guys is beyond me. The only thing they do that is somewhat useful is the match write ups/live commentary and interviews, but even those are superseeded by this forum, Rams TV and Twitter.

Yes, the buck stops with Mel, but I actually think a lot of the blame also needs to go on Pearce's doorstep.
As CEO, Pearce should be responsible for the day to day management of the club. He is responsible for managing the clubs finances responsibly and making sure we remain a viable business. The whole accounts fiasco is his to clean up, so is the communication with fans, so is the relationship with the EFL. Its his responsibility to ensure that players get paid on time, for making sure that contracts can and are provided to players. For making sure the strategy set by the board/ownership is implemented effectively. None of that he has done. I see nothing from his tenure as CEO to suggest he has been successful and meet whatever objectives he's been set.
I can't actually believe he's kept his job through the whole fiasco. It seems to me that Mel has had to perform the CEO position.

Hit the nail firmly on the head.
I think back to when both Wigan and Bolton were in their plights and how hard the local press up there fought for answers and information in those situations.
A journalist from the local press was even banned from Bolton‘s stadium for a period of time (IIRC) for probing too far. Still, they continued to fight on behalf of the supporters.
Can anyone honestly say they’d expect the same from ours? I can’t, sadly.

I listened to Radio Derby Sportscene at 6pm tonight - very disappointing. Jim Wheeler’s phone line dropped and, while efforts were made to reconnect, Simon Long ( podcast writer), who didn’t go to last night’s meeting, launched into a rant which told us nothing new. Jim Wheeler then came back on the line but couldn’t get a word in due to Simon Long’s rant, which was a pity because I sensed that JW had a more positive take , having been at the meeting. JW managed to say a little more before Ed Dawes wrapped up the discussion with half the programme left. Pretty much a waste of time as I was hoping for a bit more news on how the meeting went.

This is the first post I have seen since opening the thread, and the perfect one to say I'm sorry if you have messaged/mentioned me and I have ignored you, this morning has been chaos in all honesty, I'm not being lazy, haven't stopped since 8am.
I am now just finalising things by getting a couple of points fact checked to ensure that what I put out is completely accurate and not spend the day/evening correcting myself.
Feel like I'm apologising a lot lately, it's just I want to you to know I'm not trying my best here, not looking to tease this out, get more views, likes, attention, nothing of the sort.
I'm being sent screenshots of abuse, tweets and posts asking to verify all morning across different platforms, I'm asking you to please stop, in fact please don't even react to this thread as it will only add further to my notifications I have to work through. Never had to deal with anything on this scale before and in all honesty, I'm struggling as I don't want to ignore any of you.
Thanks again to the many for understanding on the forum, love you all and the positive support from last night makes me proud of what we have all created, I just need a bit more time. ??

Would appear a tweet I made blew up in a way I never expected tonight as some of you saw.
Needless to say many have been blocked, no time for it.
Was never intended to be attention seeking, looking for followers or some how trying to tease fans.
There was a conversation taking place regarding the release of the minutes, thought I was being helpful by letting them know it would write ups only as no minutes were being taken. That’s it.
I was on a train with patchy 3G signal and expected to respond to a poo ton of people.
I have started the write up on my phone, well aware even more so tonight of fan frustration, just stepped off the train now, home in 20 and honestly, I’m off to bed and if that pisses more people off, so be it.

I’m not sure whether I feel sorry for Wayne Rooney or not. On the one hand he has been strung along like the rest of us and for his first job as a manager, he couldn’t have picked a more basket-case club.
But on the flip side, we offered the job to him on a silver platter. He had no experience, his presence undermined the former manager and we’ve rolled out the red carpet for him since day one.
Realistically, no other Championship club would touch Rooney. Why would they? Perhaps the reason he has stuck around this long and won’t quit is because without gaining experience as a number two somewhere like John Terry, we’re the best he can currently get.

What are the expectations for this season?
With the current thread bare squad, reliance on academy players and a number of trialists, is the aim just to stay in the championship, positions ourselves for a more successful 22/23 and remain attractive to a potential buyer? Or do you expect more from Wayne and team?

Can you please explain (if as reported) why the club have a debt with Michael Dell for the loan taken out by yourself enabling you personally to purchase PP Stadium from DCFC?
And
Why are we still under Embargo? As there is enough second guessing going on in the national press and on many other platforms, please if possible could you clarify the clubs position.

I think we need to get answers to every point on this, including the details behind each one. Why are we the only club in the entire football league default in payments to the HMRC. Do regulation 16.2, 16.3 and P&S non-submission of audited accounts really relate to purely amortisation or is there more to it?
This is as of this morning.

The perception from the majority of our fanbase is that the EFL are behaving in a vindictive & unreasonable manner with their petulantly worded statements, inconsistent interpretation of their own rules & the use of a transfer embargo to punish the club in the absence of more serious sanctions from the Disciplinary Commission
If this interpretation is correct, why haven't the club sought temporary injunctive relief to compel the EFL to allow the club to make reasonable signings in preparation for the new season? (in lieu of a decision made further down the line on whether the submitted accounts are P&S compliant)

Can you provide more insights into your and the club's relationship with the EFL? There is a strong perception amongst fans that it is poor, with the EFL out to get Derby. Is this your view too, what are you and the club doing to amend that and what changes would you like to see amongst the EFL/Championship?
