roboto got a reaction from Adslegend in The Administration Thread
Perhaps Mr Ashley, with his record of buying businesses in trouble, knows the ins and outs of these laws very well and has had his team going over the issues over the last week and this is the hand he is now playing to get best value for the club.

Every time a thread gets upped with a players name in the title, I get a little flutter of panic ?

roboto got a reaction from Kathcairns in Wayne Rooney
If Wayne holds out to the end of the season and we survive (relegation and liquidation) then he might be in with a chance for the United job, which would probably be a lot easier than the Everton job is right now.
Everton need someone neutral (unlike Rafa) that has significant experience in dealing with top level professionals. Rooney has 366 days experience currently and the first part of that wasn’t particularly successful as he tried to learn in the toughest of circumstances. He’s the sort of manager that needs time to get his coaching across, bring in his own characters and build a squad of his liking.
2 weeks of a January transfer window won’t be enough time for him to do this.

I’d be thinking about my financial situation too if I was him. He is a professional footballer, he won’t be able to demand the salary he currently does for much longer.
He isn’t first choice for his position and will be further down the order once Bielik is back in the team.
He hasn’t accepted the offer of a transfer, the club (admin) have. We haven’t even heard that he’s agreed terms with a new team yet.
Im not happy that we look like we have to sell players to survive, but I won’t think badly of any player, or think they’ve tarnished their reputation with us, for moving elsewhere at this time.

Again. Centre mid is an area we are blessed with depth (compared to the rest of our squad) and have great quality there.
Knight is a great player with a good engine but I also think he has limits which we have seen more and more of since his initial impact when joining the first team squad.
If he does go for a decent fee then hopefully that will be the end of the sales and secure our finances to the end of the season. His place can be filled by someone like Sibley or Morrison and we have Watson, Hutchinson and others in the academy that can add depth if needed.

Sounds like some tabloid drama to spice up the “bit in the paper” from Nixon.
I don’t doubt that the vultures are circling and looking for a bargain, but of all the players we have remaining I think Curtis is the most loyal and one to have really shown his passion for the club in recent years. If he is looking for a last contract of his career he is free to find a club in the summer, I think he’s here for the fight.

Perhaps his train of thought is that he will unlikely be able to be offered the same terms at Derby anytime soon and if he can get some money into the DCFC coffers by commanding a transfer fee then he is helping out in that way.
He doesn’t owe us anything. He’s been a solid professional for us since he joined, but centre mid is where we are blessed with options (compared to other areas of the squad), so it’s better to accept offers for players like him instead of someone like Kazim or Davies.

Jagielka the biggest loss so far. Hopefully we will have enough to see us through the season once the vultures have picked through the remains.
