Loach to come on up front to replace Collins after 75 minutes as our only substitution of the evening

I’m not sure that Warne knows is best position ie an holding midfielder or more advanced. For me Hourihane playing alongside Smith and Bird doesn’t work.
Anyone alongside smith won’t work. Unless it’s in the stands.

Young u18s squad today suggests a young team travelling to Boro for u21s tomorrow. Hoping that means we will see a few u21s stepping up for the EFL trophy game against Wolves u21s…
I see the K Gordon the third is on the bench.

He will. We played some good stuff at times, we just needed that bit of luck in the final third. If Collins gets his toe on one and we equalise, we all go home happy etc etc etc etc
Get off your phone during the game, Warne.

He’s not quite ready yet. IMO if he’s banging in 2-3 a game by Xmas then it’s time.
It’s a good result today but reaction needs to be tempered by how young the Man City team were.
We had 4 u18s starting and they had more than that.
Brown has a great future and if he’s still scoring at Xmas and still not getting chances with the first team then questions should be asked.
Hopefully a new manager will trust the academy more than Warne.

No idea, but he’s now twelve months wiser in the football world. With more football experience in the club with Mark Thomas and that will open up channels and external agencies to help make the appointment.

I think you only have to look at the 16s losing like that to tell you everything you need to know.
I’m hoping the whole of the academy are embarrassed by that. My mate said they conceded 19 goals in 5 X 40 minute games.
They lost 2-0 to palace, 3-0 to villa and drew 2-2 with Everton.

There’s loads that I could rip this post apart with but I’ll stick with just the one.
The Kellyman family live in Derby. Omari will be training at a completely different time to his brother, so why does it make sense for them to be at the same club? He lives literally 10 minutes from the training centre at Derby and at least 45 minutes from Villa - the decision to do that journey at least 4 times a week hasn’t been made on having their sons at the same club.
The one thing you are correct with is that Omari didn’t want to leave, but believe me he realised quickly the difference in everything he was getting at Villa compared to Derby. And that is the reason his little brother has followed him.
On another note, I’ve just heard our U16s have finished last out of 28 teams in a National tournament - the academy still has a lot to do to get anywhere near a mid to high Cat1 club.
A lot of questions being raised around recruitment and the standard of coaching at the minute.
It’s that the U16 Premier League cup that was held at Loughborough this weekend?

I'm confused. We generally, and particularly first half yesterday, played out from the back. Lovely to see much better football. Now, generally during our league games we don't do that we get long kicks from the keeper and long balls from particularly Cashin and Forsyth which nine times out of ten give the ball to the opposition. Anyone know why? I don't get it.
Warne s**** himself for league games generally and for the last 30 minutes of every game and changes the tactics.

Omari Kellyman’s little brother has left the academy to move to Villa.

We more or less couldn't give it to him due to the EFL's embargo restrictions (prior to administration!) limiting us to so many players with first team experience. Playing him in a first team game would have stopped us signing someone else (such as Jagielka). In my opinion, he was ready for first team football, which will be why he left to get it.
In terms of players we should have done better financially out of, other than the two you mentioned, there's only really Buchanan, Ebosele, and Ebiowei as things stand, all due to not being able to offer them new deals during administration.
We weren’t going to give him a decent contract. Nor Ebosele, remember.
The powers that be at the time didn’t rate either of them for some reason.
brown had clubs in for him, but festy wanted to stick around and so signed a new deal eventually. -

It was the EFL who decided that every match was to have a minutes applause before kick off.

I don’t think that means there won’t be any sanctions, but more that the new governance body won’t suggest what they are.

Was Waynes decision rather than cash necessity for this one as opposed to the fees for Kellyman etc. A poor decision all round.
"It is one where I felt I couldn't deny him the opportunity, so that is my decision, not an administrator's decision.
"It was my decision after speaking to the player, I felt I couldn't deny a young lad an opportunity of going to play in the Premier League."
He couldn’t deny him the opportunity to earn £5k a week. the problem he’s now got is that he’s stuck at Chelsea because no one in their right mind thinks he’s worth paying him that much or even paying half his wages to take him on loan.
