So, while Mike Ashley was swinging his bat around on the sidelines, David Clowes has padded up, gone out to the crease and smashed a six off the first ball.

Derby County means so much to so many of us and you don't realise the affect of bad news after bad news has on you. You get on with it with a stiff upper lip and all that but reading the statement today certainly brought emotion out of me I hadn't fully comprehended was there until now. A sincere thank you to David Clowes and his Team. Better days ahead.

    Absolutely spot on.
It's worth bearing in mind that perhaps David Clowes never intended to own DCFC, but has been moved to step in after the collapse of other bids, the non-appearance of meaningful bids from other PR-hungry interested parties and the very real prospect of liquidation. Whatever, if he's seriously close to having a bid accepted that is acceptable to the preferential creditors, the EFL and that will also reunite the stadium with the club, what more could any of us want at this point?

Doubt we'll get anything from him.  I do believe he wanted to buy us, but it all fell apart for whatever reason.  You can blame him (rightly), but also Q for not providing a deadline and letting matters drift thus denying others the chance.  End of the day it was a business deal that fell through, they happen all the time. I suspect he did have the money, but it either wasn't immediately available, or more likely, the UK regulators weren't happy with its source.  For a business-man, it's c'est la vie. I tried, it didn't work, move on to the next venture.  For us it's so much more than that, and I'm sure most of us would love to know the full story.  But let's face it, after the vitriol he received on Twitter, if he posted a letter explaining things, he'd still get panned by the Twitter trolls, regardless. A lose/lose for him so why bother.
And in saying that, we'll probably get an announcement end of the week saying everything's cleared and CK is the new owner of DCFC.  Nothing would surprise me these days.

Personally I think he got cold feet because of the hate mail he got after Ed Dawes big ‘announcement’.
Ive only a hunch to base it on though, we’ll probably never know.

At some point the EFL will take away the league membership, the only thing at the moment that is making a sale viable.
Once they decide to do that, liquidation is inevitable.
It won’t be decided by the creditors or the administrators, it will be decided by the EFL.

They don’t become free agents, their registration passes to the EFL who will sell them to pay football debts.

"the minimum requirements for a bidder to be referred to the EFL for consideration are:
    1) Bidders to submit offers that pay football creditors in full, pay 25p in the £ to other creditors (or 35p in the £ over 3 years) and propose a suitable solution for the club’s ongoing occupation of the stadium.
    2) If such offers are not received, the next possibility is for offers that pay football creditors in full and propose a suitable solution for the club’s ongoing occupation of the stadium. In this scenario, where less than 25p in the £ is paid to other creditors, a 15-point deduction would be imposed for next season (depending on when a sale completes)."
    ---
I fail to see what realistic option doesn't include the very basics of paying 100% to the football stadium and securing the rights to play at Pride Park whether as owner or tenant.
£8.4m (maybe less) pays the football creditors in full and somebody (Clowes probably) has already agreed a deal for the stadium if required.
In theory for Option 2, a bid of £8.4m (maybe less) is enough!
What other option are you and others expecting is available?
