I mentioned the very same feelgood factor... and the atmosphere... in my first post in the matchday thread, after returning to my keyboard after the game.  It was most noticeable.  Particularly that last 30 mins.
I also mentioned "For the first time this season" and "Belief".  I stand by my observations.  
This was the beginning.  This will prove to be our turning point.  This was the game we'll be looking back on, come judgement day (Promotion, not death!  Ha Ha!)
Not just the SS, but all around... and not just when ordered to do so by the SS.  Even my NE corner was buzzing, and many more than a mere handful joined in for once!
 
My only disappointment was when the SS sang "Fatty, Fatty, What's the score?"
There were far too many around me making assumptions, and holding up their own fingers to signify a 1 and a 0, whilst looking around sheepishly!  They need to take a long hard look at themselves!  👀

What a wonderful piece of skill down in the North West corner 
This lad has really stepped up lately 

Well actually it was thanks to three players. A fantastic pass from Smith (I groaned when he came on but apart from getting caught in possession, as he is prone to do, early on - but I’ll forgive him as he hadn’t got up to speed, I thought he had a good game and was instrumental in our more attacking approach), NML and Sibley. I feel a little bit smug as I said to the folks sitting next to me “I’d bring Sibley on for Barks” and even got into a light hearted “row” as one of them just thought he’d get booked - that was the less mature Sibley from long ago. But I guess if none of you heard me say it then it didn’t happen. 🙂

From my seat far far away in the NE corner... along with my failing eyesight... I'd have put my house on my assumption that it was NML that had scored from the tight angle.  I couldn't fathom how it could have been any different, given that short time between pulling the trigger and hitting the target.  I was more than nonplussed when the PA called out Sibbers!  🤣
 
In my defence, when we (NML again, was it?) hit the hoardings before the back of the net, I was one of the few around me who wasn't fooled into jumping up and celebrating a goal!  I was quite proud of my failing eyes, on that occasion!  Those around me just looked like a bunch of numpties!  🤣

For some inexplicable reason, I completely ignored Portsmouth's role in all this.  I looked purely at us v Bolton for 2nd place.  I was clearly wrong/stupid to do so.

Stats are as a lamppost is to a drunkard. More for support than illumination 

For that scenario to happen Portsmouth would have been beaten twice ( by us and Bolton) so the most they could get is 102 points, making promotion in our own hands. 

It’s in our hands to make sure our goal difference is better than theirs likewise 🤷🏻‍♂️

If we win all our games that includes us beating Portsmouth, and if Bolton win all their games (except against us) that would also include them beating Portsmouth, so under the scenario you’ve described Bolton would finish top and we would finish second ahead of Portsmouth.

I'm tempted to say I enjoyed that second half... even before the goal.
OK, we still lacked a little composure.  Guile.  Dare I say skill.  But I can take that, as I'm a fan of a third division team.
But we did look willing.  They did give their all.  They did appear to believe in themselves... so much so that for the first time this season (at home), the fans sensed it.  We too showed belief.  That was the best home atmosphere of the season.  The club as a whole deserved that winner today.  We deserved those 3 points.  We all deserve to feel that feelgood factor this evening.
Today is the day that belief finally kicked in.  We're a long way from the finish line of course, and I suspect we still have to endure a few ugly moments before we get there... but we're heading in the right direction, and tonight Matthew, I'm gonna be smug!
