Back to trawling squad lists for crap rumours for them.

Ipswich play a very high press and the midfielders are trusted to carry, they can win games different ways. That works at any level.

Remember when we had chat about aligning play style through the age groups then we could hire managers that match the philosophy? Seems like another life now.

I've never not considered that. Loads of hindsight in football and it's never as straight forward as you think it is. Just my personal judgement at the time was to keep LR, he would prob have needed a bit of time to get fully going but then again Warne didn't exactly hit the ground running?
If we end up third season in L1 with Warne do we all agree it's a failure or do people still give him even more grace?

Semantics really, LR didn't have a full time contract because of the state of the club so they just kept a verbal rolling agreement. He was still the man in charge and would have had every reason to expect he'd at least have a chance of getting full time contract.
Didn't think he was ready for the challenge? After winning us way more points than anyone believed was possible with a completely stripped bare squad and a massive points deduction?

I was against it when it was announced, he stuck with us through all those hard times kept us fighting then got dumped.

We had a good manager that played better technical football that would have played teams of the park with this squad, Clowes sacked him.

We look at Hull's squad with envy now but the top 6 in the Champ is about as competitive as it gets, he's doing a good job there up against some big clubs with massive budgets. That is league is a big shift up in quality level from L1, Ipswich done well because they play good passing football with a high press and high energy levels. Invested a lot of money in that squad as well.

tomsdubs reacted to SSD in Does Warne deserve the vitriol aimed at him?
He doesn't deserve to be called a charlatan or gym teacher, that's very harsh. We can't argue that he is very successful at this level of football. With this budget and calibre of players, we should be a top 3 team in this league comfortably regardless of manager. And we are challenging for promotion based on our position and points.
I'm not sure why I can't warm to Warne though. Is it because I have been used to watching a certain style of football for years and now we have gone back to good old fashioned "hit it wide and cross it"? I don't think he is maximising the best out of the squad and financial resources at his disposal. There is a sense when I watch the team we are winning purely because we have better players, nothing that Warne is doing tactically to win us matches. It feels like the bare minimum to win and a number of supporters don't want bare minimum. We should be dominating and the team are not doing it regularly. The league is there for the taking and we keep missing opportunities.

I would have kept Liam, young, up and coming Manager who knows what he wants in terms of style of play. A bit like the Saints and Ipswich managers.

I genuinely can't stand this football, I do not enjoy watching this team at all. When we are winning you kind of stomach it but as soon as the form drops off it's full on suicide watch stuff. How can you be that bad as a team? Do they even train together?
