Posted from another thread. Pearson doesn’t seem to rate his defensive capabilities.

On selecting an academy player in front of Wilson v Middlesbrough last season.

"It's my decision based on what I think is right for the squad. I want a balanced squad. Kane is an attacking player, he's not a defensive full-back

if we’re playing a back three, it’s his attacking qualities that I’m interested in. ❤️

That chart isn’t much help if you’re colourblind… 26-29 and <21 are identical for me!

Appreciate this is akin to “for the benefit of black and white tv users, spurs are wearing yellow” but the colours you can’t distinguish are distinctly yellow vs green. It’s probably a default excel/chrome colouring, so take it up with Microsoft/google. 🤣

  3. So what do we need to get to where we were last season (as a minimum)?

I’m feeling forgetful in my old age, so what have we lost (or didn’t have) that we haven’t replaced yet?

A right back - we didn’t have one

A midfielder (replacing White and/or Knight)

    Wingers?

is that it? And everything else is gravy?

Given the fact we still have a full loan allowance, and that window doesn’t get busy until later on, we’re in a good place.

  4. I’m trying to remember a goal (with the hope of then finding it on YouTube!) which I think Daryl Powell scored, that I haven’t seen in decades, and may have many details wrong.

The ball was on the corner / edge of the 18 yard box (nearest the tv camera), possibly cleared from a corner, and he hoofed it up in the air and it just dropped in the far corner out of nowhere.

    Thanks.

  5. This negative tone suggested here is very similar to the current Southgate situation. Literally the most successful England manager in 50 odd years, who has galvanised a squad, and people want him sacked less than 12 months later. ‘Fans’ are fickle. I don’t doubt that people will boo if we’re bottom half at Christmas. I also think the players that are here have come expecting to win promotion, even if they don’t say it in the open.
